Great place, and what an experience, friendly stuff great food, even the rooms are specious having best of both shower and bathtub
Very disappointing stay - I booked the Regency Suite for 4 nights at the start of a 2 week vacation in South Africa. We walked into the room and everything seemed in order - the suite was large, clean and well appointed. It was very cold (the room was at 19 degrees) so we turned on the heater in both the bedroom and living room and unfortunately they kept blowing cold air. Maintenance came up and was able to get the heat going in the living room but not the bedroom, and said they would send maintenance the next day to fix the bedroom. Unfortunately, that meant my mom slept on the couch in the living room (with no bedding) because the bedroom was too cold.
The next day, we got back from touring and the bedroom heater was still not fixed. During this entire debacle, I was down in the lobby over 5x and the best they could offer to fix this was to send up an extra blanket - no portable heater, no room change, etc. We ended up checking out early after 2 nights because I couldn’t have my mom sleep on the living room couch another night. As we were checking out, it was absurd in that multiple hotel managers and staff came out to try to get us to stay, but none of this same effort was extended the evenings before when I was trying to resolve the issue. Moreover, even though I checked out 2 nights early, I was not refunded for the extra 2 nights where I had to book a new hotel at added expense just to have heat.
As a Hyatt globalist, this hotel and stay was very disappointing, and could have easily been corrected with a little more consideration and hospitality by the hotel.

Absolute high class Hotel! Shiny-clean rooms, fantastic breakfast buffet where you can find lots of tasty meals. Very friendly and helpful staff all over the Hotel. Portier gives us daily great information about the city and shows us where better to move.
I stayed here two times, by second time I got almost last available room where I would wish to have the carpet and a big couch , and the Manager Hanno was such helpful and nice that he moved these two details from another room to our room to makes us feel comfortable! I am very appreciated.. My best experience!
He was every single day of our stay very friendly and carrying, that makes us feel warm and happy like at home…
And my big wish for future plans to be back here again!
Thank you sooo much Dear Mr Hanno for Everything!
Wish you and Hyatt Regency hotel best success!
We stayed at this hotel or 2 nights because we could claim our Hyatt points as well as the good reviews they had online. The reviews are generally correct. We had an early check in and they tried to give us a later check out and that was much appreciated.
The hotel staff were very helpful, genuine and hospitable, a big difference from hotel staff in the other properties we stayed in various countries in the region and continent. Facilities were well maintained.
If i had a gripe- it would be that the building is not sound proof and when a vehicle sounds its honk, everybody will wake up. Good stay and a return hotel to stay if i return to Cape Town. To me, of all the hotels i stayed in Africa, this hotel and the hyatt place/house in Nairobi are the best hotel stays.
Check out my reviews of hotels, attractions, tour agencies that i have taken.
A fantastic stay at the Hyatt Regency Cape Town.
Perfectly positioned on the edge of the historic Bo-Kaap, the hotel offers excellent access to all sides of Cape Town, whether you're travelling for business or leisure.
The staff are friendly, attentive and professional, always willing to assist without being intrusive. The rooms are well-appointed and comfortable, with everything you need for a seamless stay.
A meal at Urchin Restaurant is an absolute must. The food reminded me of traditional Sunday lunches with Ouma, reimagined with a refined and contemporary South African touch. Equally impressive was the room service from 126 Cape Kitchen & Café, which was both delicious and beautifully presented.
A wonderful combination of location, hospitality, comfort and exceptional dining. I would happily stay here again.

We checked in on the 11th of June, 2026 for a 2 night stay as part of the cruise packaged we booked with My Cruises. However, upon checking in we were advised that there wasn’t any booking made by My Cruises on our behalf which we found strange as we were provided a Voucher with Hotel Booking Reference. We waited for hours while they sort out our accommodation and in the end, they asked us to pay 9,000 Rand so they can allocate us a room and informed us that the full amount will be refunded as soon as they receive confirmation from My Cruises.
After hours of waiting, we were then allocated a room (Room 104) on the ground floor which is not the room indicated on the voucher. We were supposed to have a King room with a view but instead we had the view of the building in front of us and the traffic noise and we therefore didn’t have much sleep due to the traffic noise and the noise outside the corridor as our room is right in front of the lift.
On the 2nd night (last night) of our 2 night stay, we were only provided with 1 bath towel and no bath mat and hand towels. I had to ring them 2x to ask them to provide me the required towels.
We also followed up the refund from the money we paid which they did. My husband then asked at the reception as to what actually happened with the booking and she told us it was the Hotel’s fault. They provided us a free dinner as a sign of their so called “good gesture” but we had to sit in the foyer as the Manager informed us that it was fully booked though there were a few vacant tables.
Attached are the photos that I took from the room we were allocated.
Location. Helpful staff.
Hotel feels tired compared to others in the area.
Halaaal only catering.
Excellent service across the team; accommodated early check-in request, were solicitous and helpful all through the stay. The location is excellent; walking distance to many restaurants and the waterfront. Rooms are well laid out, meeting rooms are spacious and great place for a work visit.
The Hyatt Regency Cape Town is a well-appointed hotel in Cape Town Central. Bookable through Hyatt points, this may be the best deal I've ever gotten with the Hyatt award chart. While the neighborhood isn't the most walkable and the hotel isn't the most stylish, the service was fantastic and I would absolutely return for the price.
Check-in:
We arrived around 1pm, a few hours before the designated check-in time of 3pm. Our room wasn't available yet, so staff offered to hold our luggage while we explored the property and got lunch a few blocks away. When we returned (around 2:30), our room was ready and our luggage was brought up shortly after we arrived.
Room:
We stayed in three different rooms throughout our stay (more on that later). There was nothing remarkable about the design, though the consistency of a clean, comfortable Hyatt Regency bed was much appreciated after a long flight. A few things to note: the accessible room, while slightly more spacious, does not have a shower curtain and gets the bathroom all wet. Other rooms have slightly odd bathroom layouts with less efficient use of space, but the overall room experience is not compromised. We were also initially assigned a room on the first floor, which is the floor that the hotel generally puts groups on. This ended up being quite loud, and we had to ask to move to a higher floor.
Amenities:
The hotel has fairly comprehensive amenities, including several restaurants, a pool, fitness center, and spa. The breakfast, though not included in the points rate, was very delicious and affordable when paying with US dollars. We didn't try the main restaurant in the hotel, but the cafe served good tea and pastries in the afternoon. The pool and fitness center were nice touches, though not anything to write home about. One quirk about the hotel amenities is that they do not allow you to charge things to your room off the bat; you need to pre-pay to establish a balance with the hotel, and they will refund the balance at the end of your stay. While I understand the desire not to assume further guest incidental costs, this eliminated much of the convenience of charging things to the room as a hotel guest. The hotel is centrally located, at the edge of the Bo Kaap neighborhood and near Bree street. there is much to do nearby, though I occasionally felt uncomfortable walking on some streets around the hotel. Fortunately, affordable ubers are safe and very easy to call from the hotel's central location.
Service:
Service was a highlight throughout our stay. As I mentioned earlier, we had to switch rooms twice during our stay. The first time was due to a smoking odor that appeared while we were out. Staff immediately accommodated us in another room down the hall and helped us move our things. The second time was due to the loud group that was staying on our floor disrupting our sleep. Despite the fact that the hotel was at capacity, the management worked hard to find a solution and were able to shuffle us into a room on a higher floor, giving us an upgrade to a room with a balcony in the process. Overall, service was standout, delivered with a smile at every turn.
Bottom line:
The Hyatt Regency Cape Town is a fantastic deal with Hyatt points, and the standout service only adds to the reasons to come. In the future, I may want to try a property in or around the V&A waterfront for more walkability, though doing so would likely come at the expense of a less luxurious or far more expensive stay. Given that, I'll be quite content to return to the Hyatt Regency.
The staff were very nice and helpful during our stay specially Nayomi, she made our check in smooth and was very supportive.
Wish if the breakfast had a more variety in dairy products (cheese)
