The service was excellent. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The homemade muffins every morning was an excellent touch. Coffee and warmed muffins on the deck was the best!.
I had to keep pressing the coffee maker to fill up my cup. Im sure it is simple to operate, but for some reason, i wasnt able to.

Hastings House is beautiful, and the people who run it are lovely. We stayed in the Willow Suite, which was fabulous. I was particularly captivated by all the hummingbirds outside the breakfast area

Hastings House is set in a beautiful location.
We stayed in the Farmhouse, which is right along the water. There are gorgeous gardens around the property as well. It's also an easy walk to the nearby town of Ganges. The hotel's decor is very rustic and charming. It's the type of place you go to get away for peace and quiet. Be prepared to consume a lot of calories. The staff deliver fresh muffins to your door every morning, and then a massive breakfast is also included with your stay. It's pretty expensive - I would've rather skipped the breakfast and muffins and paid about $100 less each day (which is what the bill said our daily breakfast cost). But that is my only critique. Overall, we enjoyed it. We had a relaxing time in a beautiful location with friendly staff, and we enjoyed getting to explore Salt Spring Island from our home base at Hastings House.

A beautiful, secluded place to stay and relax. Walking around the property is interesting, with a mix of forest, flowering trees and plants and vegetable gardens. Views of Ganges bay from the Manor House area are spectacular. Warm muffins are delivered to the room around 7:30 a.m. Then a wonderful made to order breakfast in the Manor House, overlooking the water. Dinner at the restaurant was outstanding. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. The only disappointment was that the hotel was aware that we were there to celebrate my wife's birthday and she never received any special recognition. Membership in Relais & Châteaux well deserved.
Great location and great staff. Charming main restaurant. Beautiful view. Complimentary shuttle to and from ferry dock.
Room was dark. Bathroom needs renovation. Drapes falling off tracks. Furniture dilapidated. Included breakfast was delicious but they wanted to charge $6 each for a specialty coffee. At the price we paid for that hotel, it should have been included. Half bottle of wine was on the counter when we entered, with a $25 charge if used!
