Passer votre chemin.....
Pros:

no room at the inn
Pros:

despite a piece of paper stating that i had a room garuanteed and that there was no need to reconfirm the booking, i turned up to find that they had never heard of me and thus no reservation. squalid looking place as well.

An average hotel in Rochechouart!
Pros:

We arrived at the hotel booked through on a Sunday late afternoon in March to find it closed. There was a board with a telephone number to call, which we duly did. The person responding (the manager or proprietor) gave us an access code so that we could let ourselves in - he did not offer to come and greet us and let us in. He also told us that a key would be found on the reception counter, and the room allocated to us. We duly gained access to the hotel, and room, and it was obvious that we were the only people staying there that night. The heating was on, and so it was adequately warm etc, and the room allocated had full en-suite facilities. It was a hotel with no frills, and an old building. The wooden floor had no carpet, and just floor boards and one rug. The nails holding the floor boards down were worn and not particularly sharp. We were told that we would find another hotel in the town for an evening meal, but no other hotel was open. There was a pizzeria open, and so we used that. At 7am the next morning the hotel opened, and we were provided with a very basic continental breakfast (7 euros per person). We did try the restaurant in the evening, it was OK but nothing special. Our overall verdict was that the hotel was OK but nothing great, but perhaps the best in the town. There was on street parking only.

Pros:

A rustic atmosphere in a building over a century old. Old barn wood floors were slightly crooked adding to the atmosphere. We were greeted by the owner upon arrival who soon after served us a drink on the front patio as we enjoyed the warm night air. The room was clean and airy. A tree covered terrace was below our window but was closed down earlier so we were not kept up by noise. Across the street from a bakery, butcher shop, cheese shop and a grocer we were able to buy all of the fixings for a delicious picnic to eat on the grounds of the castle at the end of the street.

La Météorite, Rochechouart, France
Pros:

Authentic, typically French local hotel. Shabby-chic. First impression is that is looks a bit tired but the rooms cannot be faulted at all. Beautifully decorated, exceptionally clean, big comfortable bed with crisp white linen.
Breakfast served in the bar is charged as extra but all perfect - fresh crumbly crossiants, fresh soft bread all obviously from the local patersserie oppersite in the square with dark rich coffee.
Overall experience was a absolute pleasure and as we have family living in the area we will definitely be going back again.
Compliments to the owners.

Pros:
