Would be nice if the management did an upkeep. For the rates they charge, one expects everything to be new and fresh.

A good overnight stay requires three things: a smooth check in, comfortable room and a pleasant service.
What went wrong as the first one: Hotels.com didn’t send the hotel my voucher and they refused to honour the receipt I was showing them as a proof. More than an hour was spent in the lobby amongst very irresponsible guests who were roaming without masks and this was scary and very tiresome after 9+ hours of road travel.
Everything else went well. The service at all Royal orchid properties has always been good and here they more than made up for the bad experience with their hospitality and even a token goodbye snack parcel.
My special mention to Yunus who worked hard to get this sorted with Hotels.com. This website would lose its clientele and also affect ratings of hotels who are subscribed to them unless 24x7 customer support is provided.
The attitude at the front desk was not ok. Just because this was an Expedia booking he didn't allow me an early check in. He demanded an extra Rs 1500 just for an early chec in & I paid it. He clearly mentioned that if it was a booking on his website he would have allowed an early check in. This inspite of me irequesting them that I be offered an early check in as my vehicle would reach Shimoga early in the day. Pathetic service.

Pros: Staff/Customer Engagement, Restaurant food, Breakfast. Best hotel in Shimoga.
Cons: Price for Roti, Naan, Paratha (all types) is same. Roti is too small and thin (not recommended). Restaurant menu and inhouse menu are quite different. No Pool. TV channels are very limited - only 12 and out of that 11 are sports channels. I wish they had enough channels on TV.
Air conditioning was not great. But overall comfortable stay.
It was okay!! Food was excellent! Need more improvement in front desk customer service & pls check before u talk! Room service was very slow. We enjoyed our stay! But we will not come back there again!
