Ill maintained facilities, but friendly staff
Pros:

The staff was nice and friendly, especially at breakfast.

Cons:

The elevator was broken during our stay and we weren't alerted ahead of time. We were able to take the stairs up several flights which wasn't the most fun with luggage. The hallways were very dirty with bugs in them, and we even saw a door sign made of paper stating the door. The room wasn't very clean. There were black spots above the shower in the bathroom, the shower tiles were grimy, and there were stains all over the wall paper. It was really unexpected from a Fairfield Inn; usually I expect cleanliness and better accessibility.

Very concerning they place guests in rooms without working locks.
Pros:

Staff was kind and breakfast was good.

Cons:

Carpet was filthy and stained, hotel room lock was broken and did not close. Double queen room did not accommodate 5 guests though I was able to book for 5 family members. No alternative rooms were available.

Peaceful room
We were there as we were going to a wedding so they let us check in a little early. We appreciated this so we could leave our overnight clothes etc.

Cons:

Nothing was disliked, we didn’t spend a lot of time there due to the time we spent at the wedding.

The wallpaper was missing in bathroom. The electrical cover was missing a chunk out of it . The light had to be messed with to get it to work. The big red stain on wall by bed.. and the bug in my bed

I would consider staying again depending on
Pros:

The breakfast guy was amazing and the staff are kind and helpful. The location to downtown Fenton and the Renaissance Festival was amazing ! The beds were super comfortable and it was clean. Thank goodness it was clean because it was questionable when we pulled in. The rooms were also spacious and the water pressure was amazing! I would recommend eatting at the restaurants in Fenton and exploring the downtown area, a lot of what surrounds the hotel was really nice, even the Kroger! I would probably stay again if I got the same price but my aunt and uncle paid double what we did and I would not book for that. They gave us complimentary water for the road.

Cons:

The building is extremely run down from the outside to the inside. You can tell as soon as you find it. Its not easy to find sometimes even with the GPS. The gas station next door is closed so dont go there. They do charge for parking which is just dumb, no one would park there and for the cost of the rooms, I think they have other concerns and should use that money to hire a grounds keeping company or worker. The pool is tiny and questionable along with the elevator. Our bathroom had a cracked sink, rusted parts of the tub, water concerns in the ceiling. They charge way too much for what you get! I got a room super early when booking and paid less than my aunt and uncle who got it about a week later and it had doubled. They also bad to change rooms because their first room was definitely not worth the money and smelled. It was NOT worth what they paid and pushing what we paid. They really have so much potential so it is sad. I probably would also go back if they dropped parking fee and cleaned the outside just because of the location to the festival. Honestly, if you just need a place to sleep and then go to the Ren fest all day, go to q nice restaurant in Fenton, it might be worth it depending when you can book the room and the price. I am just shocked because the pictures don't match and it needs some definite updates. I am also shocked at what you get for them to be branded Marriott and 3 star hotel. I know its close to Flint but once you see and explore Fenton, it doesn't fit in. I want them to be able to charge higher fees and still be in buisness but they could use hotel improvements so badly. The price and the quality right now don't match. I think their employees deserve better too!

It was very conveniently located near a wedding venue that we were attending
Pros:

The property was very nice. A big plus- we arrived early for the wedding we were attending that afternoon and the desk clerk was very accommodating and checked us in early so we could freshen up from our travels 😊

Cons:

We had difficulty with the thermostat in the room

Low budget hotel experience, and very disappointing stay
Pros:

This hotel has gone downhill since opening 15 years ago. As you pull into the parking lot, you get the idea that you are pulling into a budget hotel, not a Marriott property. From the faded parking lot striping to the weeds and dead bushes in the landscaped areas it is obvious that maintenance is not important. And you will be charged $5.00 per day to park in said lot. Faded, thread bare carpets greet you as you enter the lobby. The lobby and breakfast area were not adequately air conditioned during our stay.

Housekeeping is done daily, but is poor. Items were left in the fridge by previous guests, and during our stay, on various days, dirty towels were left in the tub, the bed wasn't made, the sink area wasn't cleaned and floors weren't cleaned.

The breakfast offerings were sporadic. The first morning they were out of milk. During our stay they were out of yogurt and eggs. The only cereal offering was Special K. The staff apologized for the food selection, stating numerous vendor changes and their poor reliability.

The room was also in need of a refresh from the ripped and stained carpets to the cracked bathroom sink, peeling wallpaper and warped drywall in the bathroom and dinged furniture. There was no kind of luggage rack/furniture.

I have stayed here a number of times since the hotel opened, but will now look elsewhere for future visits to see my family in the area.
