Thr house keeping was awful. We check in on a Sunday and I always check thr beds I pulled my blankets back and there was old blood stains amd black hair at the end of the bed. .I went a d got clean sheets so here it Wednesday night and still no clean bed sheets. The beds was made but still dirty bedding and I know this cause I had a nose bleed that morning and it was still on my pillow .the trash was still in the the floor. And they never threw our trash away.pizza box still setting there and so was the coffee cups.
What an absolute horrible start to my stay. The lady at the front desk “Kristy Stapleton” was extremely rude with a worker trying to access equipment. I actually could not believe how she acted about a guy trying to access a laundry area. She acted like he was trying to access the cash drawer or a big money vault in the back where they hide all the gold at this location lol! Felt bad for the guy because it was pretty obvious he was just trying to do his job. It wasn’t like this was 10pm either we are talking about 5pm on a Monday. Horrible customer service and could not even believe how this old hag acted 😂 pick somewhere else with better customer service.
Traveling for the holidays, we looked for a place to stop after driving 10 hours. We found this Holiday Inn Express. The reviews were all the same and appear accurate...nice staff and the hotel needed some attention due to wear and tear, i.e., carpets need attention. But, here's something people need to know about this location...apparently, according to the staff and my own experience, the "locals" like to use this location to party on the weekends.
We arrived around 9:00 pm. We were greeted by the strong smell of weed as we entered the lobby. When we got to our room, we noticed a vacuum cleaner running on the floor above us...didn't really think much of it. We settled into bed and then heard some running and bumping above us. Thinking it was kids, we expected it to calm down. It didn't. So, at 1:00 am, I went to the front desk and asked about what could be done. The night manager was nice and explained these were "locals". When I asked what this meant, he said that locals would regularly stay on the weekends. He mentioned that this group had already needed a bunch of confetti cleaned up, hence the vacuum at 9:00. He also mentioned that the hotel usually puts them in rooms on the end but didn't this time. He then said they come and stay at the expense of other guests...true statement. So, he found a room on the 3rd floor and moved my family at 1:30. We then worked on getting settled again and getting the room temperature comfortable to get to sleep which finally happened around 3:00 am and we had to get up at 7:00 to get back on the road.
I'm not one to complain and probably would not have if the management at this location had made it right. At first, they gave 5000 extra points...I'm assuming this is the default allowed without approval. But, after looking, this doesn't recompense for a night's stay at their location or any other. I was told when I called to ask about points that actually compensated, "being moved to another room that evening was a good solution and had I not stayed, then they could have done more." They also mentioned that the room was already discounted. That's like saying, "We're sorry we dropped your food on the floor, but it was 20% off...be glad you got to eat here."
So, be aware, if you're going to stay at this location (Youngstown West - Austintown) on a weekend, the "Locals" frequent this location and, while the staff is nice, the "locals" are inconsiderate and are more important than your needed rest. Looking back, the boot prints on the ceiling in room 136 make a lot of sense now...somebody had this experience before. If you're going to stay here...don't stay on the first floor. That's probably a good rule of thumb anyway.
The hotel rugs in the halls and stairs were filthy. It was noisy, the gym had broken equipment, and the room had a very odd smell. But the breakfast was very good and there were a few restaurants within easy walking distance.
Did not eat
breakfast, barely edible, Service none, 1 cookie left at 5pm and no more available. no recognition on arrival, refusal to five a receipt until other person came to correct and say I was paying on premisis and they could print me a receipt. Wow, so many other times and never these problems. totally dated facility but mos of the staff was friendly.
Clean, close to highway and very friendly staff. Room could use a little updating.
Super friendly check in staff; comfy beds & clean room; quality products provided
I’ve stayed at quite a few Holiday Inn Express and this was not up to par. Carpets were stained. Vent in bathroom was dirty. Air conditioner was very loud. But it easy to access from the highway and the staff was nice enough. We were only there for 10 hours but I wouldn’t book again. The breakfast was good.
The room was loud and dirty.
The amazing service we get while being checked in. This was some of the best customer service we have experienced.
Convenient, easy to get to, nice property.
Check in with the staff was informative and friendly.
Pros: The staff was nice, the breakfast was ok.
The beds were comfortable and clean. The towels were clean and nice.
Cons: The carpet is worn, stained, & way overdue for replacement. The bathroom is also in desperate need of updating. The sink was cracked; the toilet seat was loose.
Everything was great
Love your beds and pillows!
Front desk staff was great, friendly and professional.
Nice and clean and reasonably priced. Breakfast was below average. Arrived at 930am for breakfast that ended at 10am and there was next to nothing left. Asked if they could refill the waffle batter and they said it wasn't worth it for one or two more guests. Oatmeal was done, a few muffins and cereal left. Otherwise a nice spot.
Carpet in my room was stained in various areas. Elevator had laminated flooring that was damaged from water and was not the proper flooring for an elevator. Breakfast was dried out and I was there at 630am after it was put out at 6am. Coffee was good though.
Good hotel
This Holiday Inn Express was easy to get to from I 80. Check-in was smooth, the room was very clean. The hotel is older----bathroom moldings and walls show wear. Doors have spots where wood is gone. We were here for overnight, and satisfied with that, but would check out some other options next time.
