Super.
Location and convenience
Lack of natural light because the building a few meters away blocks the entire view. During a previous stay, I had a room with much better natural lighting.
Hippo Boutique is our favourite stay in Cape Town. The Hotel is clean and the rooms have everything you need. The beds, linen, towels and pillows are 5 star. There is safe off street parking, friendly staff who are incredible helpful - and its on Kloof Street - which is so much nicer than the waterfront.
If you are looking for accommodation, look no further.
The location is absolutely fantastic. Close to restaurants, shopping etc.
I had a problem with the first room that I had but they managed to move me to another room after two days. The vouchers for breakfast is a great idea. Three different places to choose from for breakfast.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
I’d stay here again!

Too noisy in particular the room 111 , very close to the street.
We're already looking forward to our return 🙂. We'd like to especially highlight the exceptionally friendly welcome at the hotel. We received a room upgrade, allowing us to enjoy a very spacious room with a fantastic bathroom. The hotel's location is excellent: it's easy to explore parts of the city from here, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby for dinner. We felt safe and secure, and there's free, secure parking available. We highly recommend this lovely hotel.
We stayed at Hippo Boutique hotel as a group of 17 people visiting from the UK, and from the moment we arrived, customer service was excellent. Staff are so friendly and helpful. The rooms are large, well furnished and very comfortable. There is a room safe in every room, a laundry service is available, rooms also have a kitchenette if required. The hotel is in a great location with a range of coffee shops, restaurants and general stores in close proximity. The hotel is also close to the UCT Hiddingh campus and on the route for a range of tour pick-ups. There is also a pool which was very welcome in the hot weather! I honestly have no criticism of this hotel and have recommended it to family and friends without hesitation.
I love staying at the Hippo Boutique Hotel, it is always the simplest, easiest and most graciously hospitable place I get to visit. In Cape Town, the area has really come a long way and is really amazing.
niets
Well-located in a pleasant area filled with little cafes, eateries and bars, small hotel in Cape Town with a variety of room types and a small pool - The bijou pool was perfect, we used it on three days and no one else was there on each occasion!
We loved our executive apartment, great to have the extra space although some minor niggles - The shower head needs a proper clean / descale as currently it sprays all everywhere, the a/c insufficient for the size of space, an issue with the tv screen
Tea & coffee plus bottled water top up daily was excellent and we loved the opportunity to visit each of the three local cafe breakfast options - such a great idea, highly recommend Sofi
Reception staff however were not as attentive or helpful as we’d have liked, especially around requesting late check out, pool towels, and room keys not working / leaving guests outside the front door
We stayed at the Hippo for 3 nights. The check in and service by the reception staff was top notch. All staff we dealt with were excellent, friendly and informative. The hotel room we stayed in had a balcony on the front over a lively street that can get noisy but it never bothered us at all. The room we had was very modern, with a small kitchenette and very spacious. Breakfast was at various cafes/restaurants around and included in the deal. We found the breakfast was very good and varied. The hotel is in a great position for shops, bars and restaurants. Which are varied and very good. Its about one and a half miles, walkable, to the V & A waterfront. The area around the hotel was very cosmopolitan and we felt safe, but bear in mind, this is South Africa and just be streetwise and do not wander off the main areas. I would recommend this hotel and would return in the future, if we go back to Cape Town.
