Lovely staff, but let's down totally by the cold food.
Pros:

We stayed at the hotel for a week from the 3rd October,we were apprehensive having read the reviews especially about the food.
Our room was up on the 6th floor and we think had been recently refurbished as when we checked in the reception commented what a lovely room we had been allocated, what a shame the bathroom wasn't of the same standard,a poor shower and rusty bath panel.
We found the staff very pleasant and polite and if you needed anything, then they tried to accommodate your request.
Now on to the biggest issue the food, although we found the food plentiful and tasty,it was never warm even when they brought a leg of lamb straight out of the kitchen it was stone cold,we dont understand why after so many negative reviews that the hotel management don't sort out the heat lamps above the food, most people we spoke to said they were returning customers some who had been about 5 times, who told us they won't be returning,we will be one of that group.
Such a shame,if they could sort out the issues, then it could be a great hotel.

Poor food
Pros:

Hotel and amenities good. Food in restaurant poor: always cold, mostly overcooked and tasteless. Stayed there previously in 2018 when everything was good.

Quiet & Relaxing
Pros:

Lovely hotel spotlessly clean. Staff friendly and really helpfull. This hotel and the area is very quiet and relaxing. Wether this is because we went close to end of season im not sure. As someone in my 30s i could see this being an issue for some younger guests but quiet and relaxing was what we wanted.
There was entertainment in evenings and staff did there all to involve guests.
Location is beautifull we were on the 6th floor and had amazing sea views.
Food was good choice at each meal time and had theme nights. Drinks were good quality even local brand as part of all inclusive package did not scrimp on measures. Rooms cleaned daily and to high standard. For a relaxing much needed break i defo recommend.
As 2 ladies travelling together we felt safe and comfortable to go for a walk in surrounding area.
Pool area spotless staff always collecting glasses etc. No fights for sunbeds. Lifeguard on duty during pool opening times.

DIRTY and OLD hotel with poor service. It's not even close to 4 stars!
Pros:

ROOMS AND CLEANLINESS: If you expect that you will find a cosy and nice stay at this hotel that is calling itself 4 stars, you will be shocked. I found the room old and dirty with hair from somebody else (hair on the bathroom door stays there until the end of my stay as other dirtiness); dirty cups and sticky spoons in the room. Dirty and old bathroom; old and broken furnitures. The edges of the wardrobe were broken so I needed to be careful taking clothes. Not trustful cleaning lady!!! HALLWAYS Dirty carpets and walls in the hallways. RESTAURANT every day offer: dirty cups, cup saucers if you will be lucky to get and also DIRTY old couches. The same food for breakfast every day, and not all the products available during the service. NOISE LEVEL: even the area is very quiet, it has nothing to do with the hotel. Forget about soundproof windows and doors. Walls are so thin that you will hear yours neighbours, tv, toilets. Moreover, you can expect that the hotel will throw away all bottles outside from 22:40 EVERY DAY. There is so many options to have a better stay at Menorca. Don't waste your time for this place.

Twice has so far been very nice
Pros:

Another lovely stay at this ideally located hotel, and paying slightly extra for All-Inc is excellent value. Their staff are excellent Ambassadors for the hotel. The room, with a dual pool and sea view, is well appointed with a daily inclusion of housekeeping if required. The usual Summer holiday entertainment and activities were varied to suit different tastes, as was the buffet style meals and snacks. I would recommend staying here, and may do so myself for a 3rd time in the future.

Wonderful !
Pros:

Stayed at the alua de menorca in s'algar for 3 nights, lovely stay beautiful sea view and worth paying the little bit extra , brilliant food and staff. The hotel and menorca was so clean .Entertainment was great . Loved the hotel facilities had a really cool sports area with different activities put on through the day but also very calm and chilled atmosphere. .never had so much included in a all inclusive drinks wise.
found the location to be really good and work for us. plenty around. Short walks or taxi . alcufar (15mins) walk . Spent day in punta prima using free hotel shuttle .
People staying at the hotel tended to be on the older side but there was a few younger couples and families with children .

Never return to this Hotel
Pros:

The Hotel is ok but what lets it down is the restaurant I can’t call it that it is like a cafeteria the food that was supposed to be hot was cold everyday the same never had a hot meal.Food kept running out even cereals and brown bread the desserts were terrible same each day.The evening meal was a nightmare if you didn’t have to queue it was so busy twice when we went to get food somebody else was sitting at your table they couldn’t get us out of the place quick enough, plates taken as soon as you put your knife and fork down. All we heard from other people was exactly the same all moaning about cold food and inferior food.We were glad to come home for decent hot food. All the people we spoke to said they would never go there again so sad it could be a really good Hotel as rooms good and well maintained but they need to sort this out as it is an important part of a holiday.

Enjoyable apart from a group of loutish drunk noisy cricketers.
I would like to know off the person who replies to these reviews...are groups of cricketers regular long weekend visitors throughout the season or is it just October?

Dining only a bad experience some staff good and the room was good
Pros:

The hotel itself is quite nice although some of the facilities are no longer available.
The main complaint is the dining room. All inclusive dining is a great disappointment. When on holiday the dining and food is an essential part of our holiday which we enjoy changing and dressing up for. The food was consistently cold and we were told that a microwave was available!!!!!! I do not go on holiday to heat my dinner in a microwave. The meat that was supplied was so overcooked that it was tough or sometimes still raw in the middle. If you arrive at the dining room half way through service there would be no bacon or porridge for breakfast, no brown bread, no crousants or pastries. Lamb chops one night were so overcooked and no meat on them. The manager of the food chose to ignore our complaints and walk away.
The resteraunt was so full and manic that you had to queue to be seated.
Cocktails were hit and miss, mostly via a machine not properly mixed. No snacks available

Having visited this hotel over many many years it’s demise is very disappointing.and sad.
Pros:

This once superb hotel has in recent years been allowed to deteriorate to the point it is barely a 3* hotel anymore.
The upfront staff are great and without them it would not even be a 3*.
The food overall is poor very rarely hot when it should be and shockingly labelling is almost non existent and I would suggest that for guests with dietary problems this is a health and safety issue.
Whist staying at the hotel we contracted gastro-enteritis and we were informed by a member of the management team who came to see us that a number of guests AND staff had had to go to the local hospital where that diagnosis was given.
What caused the outbreak is unclear but luke warm food and poor labelling does not help ,plus crockery was not always clean.
Leisure areas at the hotel have been allowed to deteriorate and the shooting and archery areas have apparently been abandoned completely and even the dart board is falling apart.

Disappointed
Pros:

n terms of housekeeping, although one towel was replaced due to hair dye, the other towel—still dirty—was simply folded and put back. According to the hotel’s policy, towels that are hanging should not be touched and should only be replaced if left on the floor. Additionally, despite requesting extra towels, none were ever delivered, adding to the inconvenience.

In the dining area, food was not labelled properly, the experience was also disappointing. Breakfast was monotonous with the same food every day, often lukewarm. Dinner offered more variety but still had temperature issues. The plates in the dining area were consistently dirty, and we often had to sift through multiple plates to find a clean one.

Moreover, with half board drinks were included with breakfast but not with dinner, and the communication about this was confusing and inconsiderate. On one occasion, the dining manager rudely interrupted our meal mid-way to address the issue, saying why do we have glasses of water on are table telling us we aren’t allowed them, showing a lack of professionalism, didn’t even let us say a word to him as his just walked of and kept watching us ever since that day making the stay even more uncomfortable . Where as the day before we were handed the drinks menu and we just took what drinks we fancied and were added to are room bill which we were totally fine with.

In summary, while there were a few positive aspects, the numerous inconsistencies and poor service left us thoroughly disappointed.

Disappointed and let down by misleading promises
Pros:

Disappointing experience – not as advertised
I would not return to this hotel. Our group booked an all-inclusive holiday centred around crown green bowls, but the experience was marred by poor management and broken promises. The manager had a disagreement with our organiser and handled it with rudeness and disrespect, which set a negative tone from the start.
Despite the bowling green being advertised as part of the package, we were unexpectedly charged a daily fee to use it. To make matters worse, the green was in poor condition on arrival—covered in sand and clearly neglected.
The food was consistently lukewarm, and the overpowering smell of cooking oil was enough to turn my stomach. Many of us had to eat out, which added unexpected costs to what should have been a fully catered stay. Several guests also experienced upset stomachs and sickness during the trip, raising concerns about hygiene and food safety.
Overall, the lack of hospitality, poor facilities, and disregard for guest wellbeing left a sour taste. A real shame, as the trip had great potential.

3rd stay at this hotel ... and we will no doubt be back in the future!
Pros:

This was our 3rd visit to Allua Illa in the last 3 years. We met up with friends again on this most recent trip. We had a fantastic week - most enjoyable. We were pleased that the food was much improved since our visit the previous year. The animation team are great - special mentions to Ray and Alex. The rooms whilst clean are looking very tired (especially the bathroom) - we would hope that there would be an upgrade before hopefully our next visit in 2027.
The daily housekeeping of the rooms is brilliant.
Something else we noted needs particular attention, in the pool area, is the decking - repairs and varnishing is required.
S'Algar is brilliant for us as it is quiet and so relaxing, but is also a fantastic base for trips to nearby Mahon, Es Castell/Calas Fonts, and Punta Prima. The provision of shuttle buses to Mahon (for a small fee) and the free transport to Punta Prima are superb.

Nice hotel in small village
Pros:

This is a lovely modern and very clean hotel in a very small seaside village. From the hotel it is a short walk to the seafront.
We were on half board and took the drinks package which was offered on arrival. This included a choice of wine, water ,and soft drinks to accompany dinner. The restaurant layout was quite cafeteria like and at times very very busy. At dinner the starters and dessert choices were good. The main courses had plenty of choices also, but were only lukewarm not hot, and the meat was not tender. As the evening meal is a big part of the holiday this was disappointing.
The pool area was always clean and had plenty of sun beds and umbrellas.
The staff were all very pleasant and helpful.

Overall good, soured by petty 'drinks' policy?
Pros:

Firstly we travel a great deal and rarely leave a review, however, I thought it important to share a couple of snippets for someone looking at staying here.
As some previous reviews have mentioned, Half Board, which incidentally cost us £3k for a fortnight does not include tap water in the buffet restaurant. On arrival, staff will try to upsell you a 'drinks' package, a clear low rent scam, knowing water isn't included. We could perfectly understand wines and beers not being included and reserved for an All Inclusive package, but tap water, prisoners get water with their meals!!!!
As is often the case in hotels, the noise is an issue, with paper thin walls and doors slamming until the early hours.
Daytime events are also an All Inclusive affair, the staff only approaching the 'right coloured wrist band people' to join the fun.
On the positive side, housekeeping and pool facilities are great.
Breakfast and evening meal are plentiful and varied, with various themes such as Italian, Mexican, Asian rotated for our fortnight. Of course taste is very subjective but we found it varied enough to be enjoyable.
Plenty of parking for a hire car (which I'd suggest essential to explore the island, make sure you take video of your hire car thoroughly for damage before you set off, as usual on our return, we where threatened with loosing our £1300 excess as they pointed out damage which thankfully we'd already captured on video. Incidently, use a credit card to leave your refundable excess deposit or they'll try to sell you 400euro excess cover!
S'Algar itself is a small quiet village with a rocky platform bay with steps to the sea.
Hope all this helps in some way.

Return visit
Pros:

This is my fourth visit to this hotel and once again cannot fault all of the staff for their friendly, helpful manner always greeted with a cheerful smile greeted as a friend.

I had a Brilliant sea view room with a lovely walk in shower and cleaned by cheerful staff complete with tea making facilities and fridge.

The only thing I have found which has altered is the entertainment staff organising activities around the pool which can get very loud and not to everyone’s choice and the evening entertainment is outside on the patio area.

The Restaurant is always buffet service and there seems to be something to suit everyone’s taste. All inclusive guest can help themselves to a wide choice of wines beers and soft drinks and cava is available at the evening dinner service.

Will I be back on holiday again at this hotel and the answer is a definite YES.

A few tweaks please!
Pros:

We have been coming to S’Algar for the past 30-years and have stayed in this hotel as far back as when it was the San Luis. This year we have visited the hotel twice, once in May to celebrate our Golden Wedding with our family and again just last week for a quiet, relaxing time which was exactly what we had.

Over the years the quality of the food has changed and deteriorated but as we are AI and have three meals a day we weren’t going hungry. Breakfast is good, lunch and dinner are very similar but always a choice and you can find something. However, vegetarian and vegan options aren't consistently plentiful or clearly labelled. Yes I agree with past posts that it is not always as hot as I would like but it is difficult I am sure catering for so many. Choice of bread is excellent as is the fruit at both sittings. Cheese and cold meat is always available.

We found the drinks selection good and pleasant for our tastes. The cocktails aren't great, but spirits and mixers, beer, and sangria were all good. A little tip about the coffee at breakfast from the machines, not the best, but once the snack bar opens and the Sports Bar, you can get a lovely cup of coffee from the barista, which is what we did.

Just a little note to management about the food put out in the snack bar and the flies which people have mentioned. We only had apples, pears and oranges which we were able to wash before we ate but maybe a simple covering of netting or plastic would stop the problem of the flies on the cakes, pastries and rolls.

The rooms were cleaned to a high standard every day and should you want fresh towels every day then they are available.

The entertainment was good, some excellent singers and the entertainment team were young, energetic and very friendly. We had some lovely evening playing cards and games with Kat, Ursula, Alba and Hermes. Andrea in the Sports Bar is a delight and offers a very welcoming and relaxing space to chill out.

The reception staff, especially the lovely Mandy, cannot do enough to help you get the most of your week. In a way they do the job which the holiday reps did years ago, advising you on trips, transport and really anything you need to know. Above all we feel very safe at this hotel. Many people we met said the same and have been coming for years.

And here it comes, the ‘however’. The last couple of days we had one or two conversations with people who had been coming for many years, one couple even before us. The general concern is the food and how it has gone downhill and they are questioning whether or not they would come again. The second negative which I believe is fairly new to the hotel is the smoking. In recent years we understood that smoking was and has been confined to certain areas, namely by the green bins. This year we have found ourselves having to move around the pool due to smoking and vaping (the latter more so). I am sure that I am not alone in whilst looking healthy I have an underlying health condition which affects my lungs and I should be able to feel confident in choosing an area where I can feel safe away from smoke and chemicals. On two occasions, vaping was being done by people in the outside dining area during eating without any interference from staff.

Just a final note to management, as I mentioned earlier we came in May with our family who had a wonderful holiday but would be reluctant to return if the food and smoking isn’t addressed. As for us old cliental we don’t want to stop coming but have to prioritise our health.

A good three stars not a four star
Pros:

The entrance to the hotel looks a bit tired but enter the reception and it is totally different.
Booking in was quick and efficent with Rebecca being a very pleasent and helpful lady. The lift is quite small so two people and two suitcases and it`s full.
The room was fine but the lampshade was rusty and the light switch was dirty.A quick call to reception soon had these things sorted. The bath panel could do with replacing but didn`t affect the use of the bath. The shower is hot and while not over powerful is effiecent enough to give a good shower.
The beds are a little firm but we still had a good sleep every night. The air conditioning worked well. The teabags are not replaced after the first time of use,so just take some from the restaurant and get some milk from either the restaurant or the bars if the restaurant is closed.
While the balcany isn`t big it is enough to sit out on and enjoy a drink with a collapsable drying rack.
The floor is wood and not the usual tiles so was quite nice.
The restaurant does get busy at times but the waiters are busy collecting empty dishes and doing a good job.
If you have a gluten intolerance or are celiac then you can tell them at reception and they will put it on your room number and send it to the kitchen. However be careful as someone cooked my husband pasta and told him it was gluten free, we were unsure and checked yes it`s gluten free. Well it wasn`t and my husband paid the price of being up all night.
When you go to the resraurant ask for one of the chefs to tell you what is and isn`t gluten free. They even so a gluten free pizza base.(if someone tells you that they are busy ask to speak to the head chef and you will be given gluten food )
If you want a quieter bar go to Jumpers which is just over the carpark, here you can get drinks and some ice creams .
Jumpers is also where you meet for any sports like padel.
The sports bar doe`s get busy but just have a little patience and you will get served. After all you are on holiday what`s the rush?
They do serve gluten free beers also.
The food in the restaurant is very mediocore with some nights all the meat being chewy and bland , but you will always find something.
If you want to go by a bus to anywhere on the island get a receptionist to print the timetable for you but don`t expect a regular service. However with a bit of planning it is possible to get to other places.
