Great room and location by eat street and across the road from lake
Absolutely loved the location of the motel, and the room didn't disappoint either. It had everything we needed for our stay.
A friendly welcome from the reception team. Apartment was a studio with kitchenette on the top floor. It was clean, spacious, had good amenities and was close to shops and restaurants. The view of Picton harbour from our balcony was absolutely amazing, we could’ve stayed there all day watching the works go by. One night was not long enough!
High standard of accommodation. Fantastic location. Helpful host and cleaning staff. Excellent stay.
Convenient location and safe. Facility is clean and comfortable. Staff I was also very friendly
Absolutely loved my stay! Stayed in a 1 bedroom with partner and two kids for 2 nights. Very spacious. Bedroom had queen bed and single (warm and comfortable!!) and we were facing the park across the road and the lake. Lounge had two spacious, comfortable couches that turned into beds. Kitchen had all the amenities. Bathroom had a big room with a big accessible shower and a toilet in its own room within the bathroom. Fast, efficient check in and check out process. Host was welcoming and friendly. Gave time to talk and catch up. Used the outdoor pool many times. It’s small but deep enough for a relaxing soak and warm. 4 year old lapped it up! Overall 10/10 rating and would highly recommend this place to stay. Will be back.
I had previously stayed at this property and did discuss a number of concerns that had arisen with our last stay but decided to come back again as I felt that one stay should not define what this property is all about.
This time I was very, very impress with my stay and the room I was given hence I gave a 5 star rating.
It is so ideal for overnight stays and just to spend time away with your partner.
I was given accommodation on the bottom floor which allowed easy access in and out for me especially carrying some very heavy suitcases but also recovering from head and shoulder injury.
Well done Lake Front Lodge, will definately come back again!
The location of this hotel is perfect! It has a great view of lake rotorua and it is near all the amazing restauranta of Rotorua. The guy who checked us in was very pleasant and gave us a lot of helpful tips for our visit to Rotorua. Would definitely book here again.
Very conveniently located. Nice view. The best service on my trip.
Beautiful spot near the lake and very close to Eat Street, walking distance to everything you need. The room was clean and modern with lovely staff to help with anything you need.
A great location, close to the lakefront and Eat Streat.
Not impressed with getting a fold out couch for extra guest instead of single bed as per booking.
Could have been more attention to detail in cleaning. A bottle of old milk was left on the bench.
We booked for a group of 4, so I am not sure why our room only had a queen bed and a single bed. It was a lovely room though, all warmed up when we arrived at half past 7 in the evening. We were too exhausted from our long flight and then drive from Auckland to head back to reception after we got to our room, so 3 of us shared the queen bed. The unit was clean and the toilet spacious. I would however suggest getting a unit on the upper floors if you are able to bring your suitcases up the stairs, because each morning we found a few cockroaches on the kitchen floor that crawled into our unit from perhaps a gap in the kitchen flooring. On the second night we made sure to clean up and clear our rubbish before we slept, but that still did not keep the cockroaches away. The motel is located just across the lake with the boardwalk and the huge playground. We were able to watch the sun rise every morning from our unit and patio, so everything else made up for the bedding and pest situation.
Perfect place to stay on the waterfront. Walkable to everything.
The lodge is located next to a busy road, after which is the lake, not as peaceful as it looks in the picture. The “balcony” is actually the walkway for the rooms upstairs, often we had to close the draps for privacy.
I stayed here recently with a friend whose lifetime dream was to go to Rotorua after learning about the area at Uni. He uses a wheelchair & we wanted somewhere that would both accommodate his requirements and not require a mortgage. I'm very happy to say that the Lake Lodge met both needs admirably.
I've stayed in cheaper Rotorua accommodation previously and I have to admit that the experience had lowered my expectations to sub-basement level and I'd warned my friend accordingly. I'll admit that I was VERY pleasantly surprised when we got into our room: it was spacious, had everything we'd need for our stay, and my friend asked why I'd been so pessimistic about the place. I'll freely admit I misjudged the motel and will happily recommend it to anybody who'll listen in future.
We'd booked a two-roomed suite, as that appeared to be the only available option which was wheelchair-friendly. We had a large lounge area, with a kitchen area at one end and a separate bedroom with a queen(?) sized bed and a single. The beds were very comfy and the linen was very high thread count and felt very luxurious. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. The lounge area had plenty of room for my friend to get about and there were two large sofas, which I believe fold out into two sofa beds. Fortuitously, the table was at just the right level for him to get his legs underneath and he was able to reach (almost) all the light switches.
The kitchen area had everything we'd need for our short stay and - shockingly - all the china and cutlery actually matched! The bathroom was clean, modern and had a roll-in shower, with a very useful seat, although this could be moved out of the way if need be.
Neither of us drive, but there was a parking space right outside the room: equally, although we didn't need to use either on this trip, there is a fairly large heat pump in the lounge, and a large fan for the bedroom. We had little real interaction with the staff, but those with whom we did were polite and friendly.
If I had any complaint at all, it would be that the threshold into the room is slightly difficult to negotiate if you're in a wheelchair. I was able to give my friend a boost over the bump, but a solo disabled traveler might find it quite difficult to gain entry. Having said that, it's a minor thing and didn't do anything to distract from our enjoyment.
The motel is right on the lake front and just 100m from both Eat Street and a very busy ice cream parlour. It's very quiet and even though a busy road passes just outside, very little can be heard inside.
I'd highly recommend staying here if you're looking for reasonably-priced accommodation in Rotorua.
Large room near restaurants and a great park.
We are here for three nights. The Motel is situated at the beginning of Rotorua with the lake in front and plenty of parking. It is a great place with an easy short walk into the shops and restaurants.
The motel was clean and had everything needed including a microwave and two plate hob. I would definitely recommend staying here.
This was the wierdest place we stayed at during our trip to NZ. We stayed at B&B. The kitchen area was nice to use, breakfast was ok. Everything was clean. Situated in the center, free parking. The room though was super tiny. Nowhere to even put our suitcases. No nets in windows when there is no AC! We had tons of insects inside as we stayed during hot days. It's also impossible to get the room to cool down as there is no through ventilation. The bathroom is also super awkward. No exhaust fan. Absolutely nowhere to put your toiletries, no shelves, no hooks, towels stay wet since again there no air movement. Our room was next to the kitchen so with open windows we heard all cars and all people that got up early. Absolutely do not recommend.
What a gem of a place. Barry at checkin was super helpful and had some great recommendations of where to go and eat. Plenty of free parking. Room big, views of the lake and very clean. Easy walk in to Eat Street and all the delights of the town. Would definitely recommend as a place to stay.
Good location. Clean & comfortable.
