If you value basic guest convenience or clean pool facilities, look elsewhere. We prepaid for our stay at this location specifically to enjoy the pool and hot tub, but it was an absolute disaster from start to finish.
The hot tub was completely out of order. Worse, the main pool water was heavily cloudy, full of a strange, abnormal bubbling, and the chemical smell in the room was so overwhelming it felt like a health and safety hazard. When we mentioned it to the desk, the General Manager, Josh, gave excuse the pool was "overused and the filter couldn’t keep up." If your equipment cannot handle your guest capacity, that is a management failure, not an excuse to pass off onto paying guests.
To top it all off, we needed a luggage cart to get our bags down from the 4th floor. Josh informed us they only have 2 carts for the entire 4-story hotel, so we never got one. When I suggested that a multi-floor hotel needs adequate luggage equipment, Josh had yet another excuse ready about "not having room to store them."
This property is poorly managed, poorly equipped, and handled by a GM who would rather make defensive excuses than provide hospitality. Management needs to shut down that pool area and rebalance the system before someone gets sick. Avoid this place.
The Holiday Inn Dayton South in Centerville is a very clean, accommodating hotel. I loved my room, it had a big window with beautiful view. Lots of natural sunshine. Everything was clean and up to date in my room. Breakfast was nice with an assortment of hot and cold items. Something for everyone is always a plus. The pool looked pretty. I was going to use the hot tub this morning but it was closed. Other than that, perfect stay. I will book this again for sure.
Really poor service throughout my 4 night stay. When I arrived and went to the 4th floor, the keycards did not work so had to go back to reception and have them redone. The ironing board was wobbly and dangerous with the iron dropping off the board. I reported it to reception and 3 days later it had not been replaced despite a reminder. One day my room was not cleaned. I was given a free drink as an apology. Breakfast was poor, we didn't eat there after the first morning. On the plus side the room was clean and large with a nice bed, good air conditioning and a good TV. I would not stay here again.
Horrible hotel to stay in for work
Said we couldn’t grill in the parking lot because of fires and wants you to take off your boots before going inside even if you haven’t been working in the mud
Just checking into this location for New Year’s. Drove two hours here and upon arrival our floor has a stench of cigarettes. Brought our two year old who was extremely excited to use the pool. Once we arrived at the pool we found out by other guest the heater isn’t working and the pool it’s self is very cold and my child was not able to get in. Hot tub is also closed which we were told by others that they’ve stayed here three times and all three times the hot tub was closed. We will not be able to utilize the pool for our child and wish we would have been notified and would have went to a different establishment.
Short staffed while I was there, but overall good experience
the pool was too cold to use and the carpet in the hallway looks dirty and worn but the room was clean and the breakfast was good and the staff was great
I paid in full when I booked. My boyfriend checked in as I was at a venue for the event that brought us to town. They charged his card in full for the room again. The front desk referred me to the manager. I’ve reached out to the manager and the group sales individual without a response.
The coffee machine in the room did not work.
We booked for 4 guests in a King suite (2A, 2 kids). After arriving at 1:30am from the event, I had to ask the front desk for pillows and blankets for 2 of the guests. This should have been waiting for us in the room.
The tv in the front room didn’t work and gave a message of “No guest checked in”.
At breakfast the trash cans were so over flowing there was no where to discard our trash.
The only person that seemed to be working the breakfast station was very lovely and working extra hard. The cleanliness issue appeared to be a lack of appropriate staffing.
We were greeted when we arrived and a few inconveniences were resolved on the first night. Other than that there is nothing to rave about our stay. The hotel was mediocre in cleanliness. The bed and furniture were not comfortable. There were no blankets for the pullout. The room was not supplied with adequate towels. Guests were loud and we could hear them from our room. They ran out of food at breakfast. The hot tub didn't work. The pool was dirty, especially the filter. Other guests brought alcohol into the pool area.
The hot tub has been out of order for 6 months we were told and that was the only reason we picked that hotel and also the only reason we traveled on Friday. We could have saved our money and just traveled to our event on Saturday morning.
Felt safe in hotel and parking lot
Good location. Easy access. Friendly staff.
The staff was very nice
Hot tub keys didn't work which was fine but apparently neither did the filters in the pool or tub. Rooms were nice, clean and comfy but tv didn't work except for one channel and that took forever to get working. The lady at the front desk was great and did all she could to help with tv situation. Overall was a very nice stay and would stay there again.
Only issue, front desk person not at desk when arrived to check in. Ive stayed there 2 weeka in a row on a Friday. Neither hweek, were front desk personnel at desk when I arrived.
The forst Friday, staff was friendly amd apologized for not being at desk. 2nd Friday, a male coming thru from maintenence (maybe) was going to help me, when girl finally ce around corner. No apologies or welcoming. She just did the task of checking me in.
Everything else about the hotel was fantastic. Enjoyed my stay very much
Really nice, all update. Great full breakfast!
Breakfast great and room clean
Best stay I’ve had in ages. People were friendly, the breakfast was great and I slept very well. If I go back to Dayton, I’m staying there.
Bring your several plans and brought home with me stating and also rather than fire them going off is an idiot was smoking in the room. You talk in the morning. I like staying in here. I prefer to stay here with the price right? What time is the price is too high
Room not clean
