Pros:

The location is perfect to visit the Cano Negro reserve. The staff were extremly friendly and the foodwas delicious at everymeal.

Pros:

A very kind, friendly and helpful staff.
Professionally orgenized tours.
Delecious food and drinks.
Amazing nature just at your doorstep, including monkeys, birds, etc.
Quiet and relaxing :)

Tranquil and close to nature
Pros:

If you’re thinking of going to Caño Negro, do it! It has been one of our highlights and brilliant to get away from the tourist crowds and be close to nature for a couple of nights. Natural Lodge was a peaceful haven, with only the sounds of nature to wake up to. The hotel staff were all lovely and very helpful. The food was excellent, with the restaurant overlooking the gardens. The pool was relaxing.

Cons:

The last hour of our drive was pretty bumpy but 100% worth it.

Nice hotel/lodges near lagoon with good food and great staff.
Pros:

Nice modern lodges next to good common area with bar and restaurant. Good food if a little expensive. Excellent helpful staff. Chef does a mean hot sauce.

Cons:

Location on waterfront of lagoon (10 mins walk) as we had expected, therefore limited wildlife in hotel complex. Access roads very poor (not hotel’s fault). Very few customers (we went in peak March season) therefore not much atmosphere.

Pros:

The garden with feeders attracting all kinds of special birds. The excellent staff always giving good advice and birding tips and suggestions. The superb morning bird watching boat excursions with great guide and boatsman. The food and thd amazing way thd kitchen staff is preparing dishes with local flavor. So highly recommended!!

If you’re seeking a unique nature stay in Costa Rica, we recently visited this fantastic eco-lodge that deserves praise. Nestled within lush rainforest, the location offers breathtaking views and an immersive experience with nature.

Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Juan Pablo and his staff, who were outstanding - knowledgeable and eager to share insights about the surrounding environment.

The accommodations were exemplary. They were spotless, comfortable and thoughtfully designed, blending seamlessly into the natural landscape. The sound of wildlife filled the air, creating a serene atmosphere.

Activities included on site hikes,where we encountered a sloth and also a howler monkey family. The lodge arranged a guided boat tour with an experienced bird guide that was wonderful. As birders, we enjoyed the opportunities for bird-watching at the lodge which were a highlight. There were birds everywhere!

The lodge also offered sustainable dining options, showcasing local ingredients that enhanced the overall experience.The chef was awesome!

Overall, our stay was a perfect combination of relaxation and adventure. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the beauty of Costa Rica while enjoying a comfortable and eco-friendly environment. Its exquisite.

Cons:

Rooms very dark. Not enough light to read. No telephone. No TV. Comode too low. Sink too high. This hotel should not be so expensive.

Sehr empfehlenswerte Unterkunft in natürlicher Umgebung
Pros:

Eine sehr schöne Anlage eingebettet in einen gepflegten Garten, wo man Vögel beobachten kann und manchmal die Affen hört.
Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, offen und hilfsbereit. Das sehr gute Dinner haben wir genossen. Zur Bootsanlegestelle ist es nicht weit entfernt und die zwei Touren zur Vogel- und Tierbeobachtung auf dem Fluss und durch die Lagune waren für uns sehr eindrucksvoll und von einem einheimischen Guide sehr gut durchgeführt.

Die Vegetation in der Lodge

Cons:

Für den Preis eine Katastrophe! Zimmer ohne Fliegengitter, einfach ohne irgendwelchen Komfort eingerichtet. Das Personal im Restaurant freundlich, aber vollkommen unzuverlässig, man muss regelhaft mehrfach nachfragen, um zu bekommen, was man möchte. Gerichte hochpreisig mit kleinen Portionen, entsprechen eher einer Vorspeise, als Mann wird man sicher nicht satt. Der Ausflug mit dem Boot ist vor allem für Vogelliebhaber nett, aber ebenfalls überteuert. Die Führung durch die Farm (50 Dollar pro Person!) ist eine Frechheit, absolut nicht lohnenswert. Für 11 km zur Lodge habe ich mehr als eine Stunde gebraucht, ein riesiges Schlagloch liegt neben dem nächsten, die Weiterfahrt war auch nicht besser und hat zum Tausch des Autos wegen Schäden geführt.

Un lieu idéal pour observer les animaux: oiseaux, Caïmans, iguane et singes.
Pros:

Emplacement exceptionnel, très proche du Rio Frio. Un personnel très serviable avec en particulier Joël et Rudy aux petits soins.

Cons:

L’accès à Caño Negro est vraiment très difficile avec une route complètement défoncée sur 20 km.

Fantastische plek
Pros:

De lodge is een verrassing na een pittige reis over een onverharde weg vol kuilen. Het personeel iedereen is erg aardig en doen alles om t je naar de zin te maken . Niet formeel maar heel persoonlijk. Er wordt heerlijk gekookt, de kamers zijn prima,een mooie tuin met apen in de bomen, veel vogels Een fijn zwembad. We hebben prachtige boottocht gedaan ,veel vogels ,kaaimannen,Leguanen gezien. Verder heerlijk relaxen en zwemmen in de mooie tuin.
Dank Ronald voor de leuke gesprekken en Rudy en Joel voor de vrolijke bediening in t restaurant. De kok voor alle lekkers. Het was een superverblijf.

Cons:

1 tip, graag een rekje op de kamer om wat was of zwempak aan op te kunnen hangen. Wat haken in de kamer of badkamerom e.a aan op te kunnen hangen.

A fine lodge with lovely grounds and good tours.
Pros:

The monkeys in the trees, the birds at the feeder, the soft music, the staff, the food, the grounds. The friendly dog was a bonus.

Cons:

The 22 km of dirt road to reach the lodge.

Pros:

The staff was very kind and helpful. The food was excellent and well priced. We enjoyed the birds and they helpfully arranged a great river tour. I enjoyed having the pool for refreshing swim. Rooms were comfortable.

Cons:

The access road was dirt and full of deep potholes. Coming from the west (liberia) was 19k (maybe more?) on that road. It took us 2 hours on that stretch. When we left and continued east, there was less of that road, but it still took 1 hour to travel 10 k. Other people drove faster than us.
