Natural Lodge Caño Negro

Great place with nice garden and bird feeders. Had a couple of boat tours arranged by them which were excellent.
Very helpful staff even lent us the bars kettle so we could make tea.
Food was also excellent

We decided to stay at this hotel because we wanted to experience the everglade type atmosphere. It was a bit of a jot to get here with some tough roads and very rural area, but it is a hidden gem. We absolutely loved it and are so glad we decided to go outside our comfort zone and stay here I’m sure not many people do, but it is well worth the trip to say that we came to this location and specifically this hotel. And we finally got to see a family of monkeys on our river boat tour. We were beginning to think they were not really in Costa Rica. thank you

Proximity to natural environment for biding excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff. An excellent chef. Overall 5 stars.

We were almost the only people there. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the tours organised from the lodge were excellent and both overran their projected time considerably. Food was fair but not special.

The registration people were quite helpful and friendly; they spoke English well. The guides provided on the tours taken were not well trained to interact with groups. Their English language skills were marginal, and their biological explanations were lower in quality than other guides we had used at other sites. The roads leading to this place were washboard-like for hours, making travel challenging. One would really want to see this place to put up with such road conditions.

Staff was great, food was very good, and Jimmy took us on a very enjoyable boat tour pointing out wildlife.

We arrived late and the staff was happy to wait for us to check in-we weren't able to arrive on-time. They also were happy to start breakfast for us TWO HOURS EARLY as we left the hotel at 0600 to go fishing. The staff was VERY friendly and accommodating.

This hotel is ok, is for people wanna see a wildlife and rest. Don't have tv and wifi just around the lobby and bar

The best part about our stay was the staff! They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed!! And the tour they arranged of the Rio Frio and the Lagoon was fantastic!!

Das Hotel ist wohl das beste in Cano Negro, bietet aber leider immer noch relative wenig. Besonders ärgerlich sind die Preise, die sie für Exkursionen verlangen - im Ort kann man selbst für den halben Preis dieselbe Leistung bekommen. Ohne Exkursionen gibt es im Hotel überhaupt nichts zu tun. Wir hatten zwei Nächte gebucht (und gezahlt), sind aber schon nach der ersten wieder abgereist. Als kurzer Abstecher ok, aber auch keinen Fall für einen längeren Aufenthalt geeignet.

Simple rooms. Awesome area. Canoeing tour with Jimmy is a must do. Good food and reasonable priced.

We enjoyed the area, but probably would have appreciated it more if there wasn't a drought. not much to do other than be on the water. It was definitely overpriced for other comparable lodges in rural Costa Rica.

Ruhige und gepflegte Anlage, mit Pool, an dem man nach der Fahrt durch die Kanäle den restlichen Tag entspannen kann (auch, wenn die Liegen etwas unbequem sind). Nur 10 Gehminuten vom Bootsanleger entfernt.
Gutes Essen, etwas Geduld darf man gern mitbringen, da der nette Kellner allein etwas überfordert schien.

Dear Expedia, We booked a room at this hotel after reading it's description. However after being shown to the room we were taken by surprise that it did not come close to the expectations of it's description or price. My wife used the bathroom first thing and toilet did not work which was very embarrassing for her. The room looked like $60 room not the $140 we booked.... not even close! We talked to front desk explaining that we're not comfortable with the price compared to the written description of the facility and what we discovered. There was no manager on site so she got one on the phone. He explained there was nothing he could do about the price. I said ok, we're leaving. While we waiting to talk to the manager, another guest expressed their displeasure and said they we were leaving after one night. The next day we saw them and they said the inclusive breakfast was one fried egg, 2 pieces of toast and one cup of coffee. They were discussed with the hotel at that price..., ok place for $50 a night but no way over $120 a night! We would hope Expedia would refund our money for this booking. I have stayed at many, many hotels and cabinas all over Costa Rica and other countries for over 35 years, never, ever have I walked away from a booking.... never! This hotel was way over the top misleading and way over priced. The grounds and room we're at $50 per night facility, not $140! Please refund our money. Sincerely, Mark
