Excellent facilities, service and location! Went over and above to make our stay extra special

Great location near lifts, short walk to the restaurants and center. Quick ride to the train. Staff is friendly, facilities and breakfast are nice.

This single room is by the elevator and stairs and is a little loud. You can hear the person next door in the bathroom through the wall.

My biggest complaint is that the shower is terrible: the stall is tiny, and the handheld shower head has so much pressure it can’t rest in the cradle, no matter what you try. You’re forced to hold while trying to manage the squeeze bottle of soap/shampoo.

Otherwise the spa is nice but small for the number of people. The hot tub is just warm, but massive.

We have been visiting Zermatt for many, many years – but this was our first stay at the Christiania. We couldn’t have been happier. We booked directly with the hotel and were encouraged by the pre-arrival communication. Since we weren’t going to be skiing this year, a great Matterhorn view was very important to us – and Kiri went out of her way to make that happen. The peaceful location is perfect, the modern rooms are comfortable, and the food is good: a brilliant breakfast and, for guests who book half-board, a generous and varied dinner (the latter served in the same attractive restaurant as a-la-carte/non-hotel diners, which made evenings a very pleasant and relaxed experience). Better yet, there’s the atmosphere: this is a family-run hotel – and it shows. It feels Alpine and informal, but it works very well. Fellow-guests all seemed happy. And the (many) staff were all friendly, helpful and efficient – from reception to housekeeping and from the restaurant to the shuttle-service. In short, I can’t imagine why we’d stay anywhere else in future.

We were greeted professionally by Tara and she gave us a personal tour of the entire hotel which was awesome and told us all we needed to know for our 5 night stay!

Everything better than expected. Zermatt was too warm though..much more than expectation. Maybe table fans can be made available to guests. Very hospitable and responsive people at reception specially. Maybe One veggie hot dish for breakfast shd be there.

We spent 5 days in Zermatt in a skiing vacation( couple) For many years we have been coming to Zermatt, a magical place ! Always stay at Hotel Christiania- it is like coming home. Great service, awesome facilities and very friendly, helpful staff. Can only say positive things about this great hotel and highly recommend staying there

Amazing quaint hotel with great amenities and a perfect location for ski lifts and a 5 minute walk to most restaurants and the Main Street/shopping area. Everyone in reception was knowledgeable and very helpful with our questions. Definitely would stay again

Exceptional in every aspect. We were picked up on arrival by the Christiania shuttle at the train station, great service.
The lovely lady showed us to our room which was beyond expectations, such a wow moment walking into the room and seeing the matterhorn in all its glory.
The room was large, comfortable, excellent bed comfort, plus we had a lounge area and balcony to sit and enjoy morning sunrise with fresh Swiss mountain air. We had a fruit bowl and complimentary water on arrival . Nespresso coffee pods refilled each day and a lovely big bathroom with Christiania logo towels, slippers and double sink. The wardrobe was large and lots of space to put bags. This was an exceptional room. Unfortunately my partner experienced altitude sickness and spent an entire day in bed, at least he had a great view and room to relax in!
The hotel itself is beautiful and the spa area also exceptional with a pool you can swim laps, spa area and multiple saunas, relaxation room, gym, it is so clean and beautifully appointed. The hotel is quiet and relaxing yet positioned close enough to walk into town and enjoy the bustle of Zermatt.
The restaurant is fantastic. We travelled 6 weeks through Switzerland and France and this was a stand out dining experience and hotel. We had the veal with bernaise sauce and local Swiss wines to match. The veal was incredibly tender. The cocktails from locally sourced Zermatt gin were also exceptional. The buffet breakfast had excellent variety and good quality ingredients. Particularly enjoyed the orange juice machine for fresh juice each morning. The lovely gentleman greets you each morning at the breakfast and the view again is spectacular. Highly recommend booking a Matterhorn room. I look forward to returning to such a fabulous establishment next time we are in Zermatt.
