The staff were exceptionally helpful and happy
Lift was less than clean and gave a bad impression in an otherwise pristine clean environment
I liked the location and it’s history- the front desk staff were exceptional
I had kindly asked if there was a possibility to organize an early check-in as I was coming in from an impossibly early flight and long drive from Dublin with my aubt wake in the afternoon hence woukd have appreciated an early check-in and the written response was à flat tough cookies response cant check in is at 4:30 pm - I wrote back expressing my surprise and thst it was the first time in my life I had received such a flat no - ever and that was folkloric by ! Early check in is an extra 50 euro - which is flat out ridiculous - luckily when I arrived there was a lovely front desk attendant who took pity on me and called housekeeping asking if any rooms were available or ready yet and I was able to freshen up and rest before going to my aubt!s wake - whoever does the responses at the hotel needs a quick course in hospitality! An extra 59 euros for early check in ! They should be ashamed of themselves ! That not what a grand old hotel should be known for - especially since there are other choices around town ! I was left with a bad taste in my mouth with that response - but the front desk staff were lively and helpful so that made up for it !
Was great
Excellent location.
Very noisy. Avoid room 314. Fan or generator above it never stops and kept me from sleeping. Pillows very hard, may suit some.
Poor service in restaurant and bar not in line with local service at all.
Location & staff is excellent.
There is no parking, we parked in front off the local guard station and the rear number plate was removed from our car.
This is by no means the hotels fault, but a little disappointing with the town itself
I had a steak sandwich with a side salad and I got a snail in it . The guy that served us the meal said that the manager would call up to our room in the morning before we checked out but unfortunately no manager called . I ended up getting sick disappointing experience.
clean. safe
Beautiful old hotel with excellent facilities in great central location. Walk to restaurants, pubs, etc. Room was very spacious with a view of the water
