Just had to find a place for the night and this hotel was close to the highway. Good choice, they have parking, a swimming pool (which we didn't use) and nice patio rooms that go out to the pool, pretty quiet. The restaurant served surprisingly good food.
I found myself in Ciudad Carmen overnight and checked into Hotel Real. Maybe they had just mopped but the place smelled like Fabuloso detergent and disinfectant. Bar was closed, restaurant was empty but took an order for a cocktail. I waited by pool area which had dirty tile and dirty table top. Seemed like drink would never be served. Waited what seemed like forever. I even went to restaurant and asked if they were making it. It finally showed up. Intended to take a swim after long hot drive but pool was rented out to a group of chubby women doing water aerobics to very loud Mexican disco music and a coach with a microphone yelling the moves. Wasn’t the most tranquil cocktail moment I have ever had. I opted to eat elsewhere and found a very good taqueria a couple blocks toward the airport. El Vaquero I believe. Other than the disinfectant smell, dirty pool area, poor drink service and pool full of loud chubby women the room was clean and otherwise comfortable. It was ok for one night transient stay. Wouldn’t have wanted another night.
Stayed in this hotels for many times. Amazing place to relax after tough two months work on offshore.
Rooms are nice with comfy bed's and well cleaned. Good Wifi connection.
Restaurant has good choice of food. Breakfast is excellent.
For pool users they have good and well maintained pool.
The Hacienda Real is a good hotel with friendly staff. There's nothing better than a shower, cold beer and wifi after a six hour crewboat ride from the oil fields.
I can recommend this hotel for anyone travelling to Carmen.
Suggestion for improvement: English speaking TV channels!
I stayed in this Hotel for 1 night in Sep2015 and now again in Oct2015.It's a nice Hotel very near to Airport.Ambience of Restaurant is perfect and good tasty food.Rooms and Bathrooms are very neat and clean.Bed is perfectly arranged.Staff is very friendly and helpful.Just across the road is MEGA Superstore which was very handy to do some shopping before I leave for Mumbai.Overall a very good experience staying here.
Stayed at this hotel several times in 2012, 2013 and 2014. Nice and clean rooms(but no refrigerator if you are not on the suite). Nice pool and friendly staff if you take into account that everything takes time in Mexico. The restaurant I can't recommend.
Stayed here on our trip back to the US and will stay here again. Great food in their restaurant. Pool was nice for the day. This is an oil service town so keep that in mind. The rooms were like a Holiday inn. Lobby was very pretty with restaurant and pool visible.
12 years since last trip. This time was provided a room at the back end. Very poor state and dated. Needs a good makeover.
Front end of the hotels looks great. Bar and restaurant in decent state. Has character.
Location convenient location for us on work assignments. Huge supermarket across the main drag.
Located just two blocks off the beach, Hacienda REal del Caribe's architecture is bright Spanish Hacienda style as its name would imply. Be careful when booking to not that there are TWO such hotels, decorated the same and owned by the same people. The Hacienda del Caribe is next to the bus station a block off the Calle Juarez main drag, is about a fourth the size, with a tiny swimming pool -- like a large hot tub and the foyer opens out on to a walking street. Getting there with lots of luggage is a bit difficult.
However, the Royal or Real in Hacienda Real del Caribe is on 10th Ave. about five blocks north of the smaller Hacienda. It's large with parking. The pool is excellent and good for laps. The staff speak English and is very well trained and helpfu. All is clean and reasonably well maintained. It's older and not a 4 star polished hotel, but no regrets in staying there even for picking patrons. We stayed on the 3rd floor in a twin queen size bed room that was sufficiently large with a very large bathroom. Again, it was well maintained, and clean with all the usual amenities of a good hotel.
Nightlife around it is everywhere with only a block walk to the excellent walking street with great restaurants, shopping and commotion. Of course that is a bit problematic if you're trying to get to sleep at 10 PM -- music and deep bass reverbs are at full throttle. But the rooms are fairly sound proof so we dropped off to sleep without a problem.
So, location is GREAT. Architecture is beautiful. Maintenance and cleanliness is good. Hotel layout is great. Pool excellent.
And the price -- you get the Real one for $80 or so. and the none Real for $60-$70. We're used to 4-5 star hotels but liked this hotel a bunch.
Check in was a bit chaotic and definitely not as smooth and efficient as it could be. But it did the job still within a reasonable time.
The rooms are nice, reasonably clean and quite.
Service of the hotel staff was good. All very friendly and speak enough English to support you well.
The restaurant is good with a nice choice of dishes and even if you want to deviate a bit from the menu this is not an issue.
The breakfast is excellent with many choices and still can choose alla carte if you want something else.
There is a good, and fast airport shuttle service available on request.
The name describes the setting, a Royal Hacienda. Lovely pool area and gardens, lobby and restaurant area well designed and decorated. Spacious clean rooms with the essentials, friendly service. Good breakfast !!
We chose this hotel because we wanted a place with character, and we got that. The room was nice and clean, and the hotel common areas were very nice with colonial flair (reception, bar, pool). Unfortunately, we will NEVER stay at this hotel again. The service we received, from the receptionist to the manager, was horrendous. Upon our arrival at 4PM there was no TV remote in the room (the TV does not function without a remote). Normally, this would not bother me, but I was traveling with a 9 year old who had been on the road for 7 hours - we needed Nickolodeon, STAT! We called the front desk and asked for a remote control and were told it would be in our room in 15 minutes. We called again 30 minutes later and we were told our remote was "being repaired" and would be up in 15 minutes. We waited until 5 and then just left for the pool. We stopped at the desk around 7PM on our way to dinner and inquired about the remote that never showed. The manager assured us he knew about our problem and would take care of it. He kept cutting us off in mid-sentence saying, "I know, I know," but we got the feeling he just wanted us out of his face. The remote showed up when we returned at 10PM.
Also upon our arrival, the safe was missing batteries so my husband had to request those and wait, while the rest of us went to the pool, for someone to show up with a full set.
While at the pool, we could not get bar service to actually bring our drinks to the pool (the pool is located right next to the bar). Eventually, the staff got tired of me walking in the bar in a dripping wet bathing suite so they brought out our last round.
One last thing. Every time (no, really, every time) we went up to our room the electronic key card did not work. We had to go back to the reception desk to have it reset. I don't want to sound paranoid, but, um, that could not have been more annoying had it been planned.
I hate to end on a bad note. Did I mention how pretty the hotel was?
I have only stayed at two hotels in Carmen and this seems to be in line with most hotels in the area of this ranking. Has a gym, pool, restaurant , bar and laundry service. It is across the street from a large Walmart type store, bank, Dominoes and a wing place called Wing Army. Rooms are just OK. Staff is nice. I had a problem with my a/c and they had it fixed right away.
Generally ok, rooms fairly large, comfortable. Room service just ok. Resturant is very good, although breakfast for a bit of variety could be improved on.
Pool area is nice and relaxing. Basic but funnctional gym.
Be carful when you make your reservation they tell you one thing and give you something totally different, I reserved for 3 people, my son my wife and me, they told me I wold get a king size bed, and bufette breakfast for 2, to my surprise when we arrived they told me that berekfast was included but yust for 1 person, and not a bufette just scrambled eggs with ham and bacon, me and my family are vegetarian and don't eat eggs and certainly no ham and bacon!, they didn't offer something else, I ended up paying the same price but with no breakfast.
Please be careful!
