The rooms were reminiscent of the old days but with a modern feel.

The Atwater Hotel was a great place to stay in Avalon! Friendly, professional, informative, courteous, staff. Great location. Comfortable bed! Great ambiance in lobby! We will return!

One of the best spots to stay on the island. Absolute perfection. Not only is the customer service amazing, the room and overall ambience is second to none. Everything is in walking distance. We will be back soon. Thank you

The Hotel Atwater is centrally located in Avalon making it the perfect stay for exploring the island. Combine that with a professional and and excellent staff plus very clean rooms with comfortable beds, and you have Catalina perfection.

Every encounter with the staff was excellent. We really enjoyed our comfortable and simple room. The coffee bar downstairs knew our order by day two and everything was pleasant with a touch of casual elegance.

I will absolutely stay here again (after many trips to Catalina staying elsewhere, we found our favorite).

This Hotel has a very wecoming lobby ,spacious comfortable . The rooms are very well appointed ,nice layout, beds comfortable.The location is wonderful. Nice that there is a coffee/breakfast place in morning is handy. I was happy they had a table and chairs at edge of lobby in case you have some food to eat or just need a table.

The look

Staff were excellent! Very clean hotel! Perfect location, right in the middle of the town and just steps from the water.

We arrived with our confirmation etc. somewhere between your company and them they lost the reservation. Luckily across the street at the Glenmore, they had a very nice room for the 2 nights.

Spent a terrific 4 nites/5 days in Avalon on Catalina Island. We loved the Atwater: great central location, beautiful well-maintained property, clean well-appointed room and, most of all, pleasant, helpful, available front desk staff. We had a harbor view room from which we viewed colorful sunrises and sunsets. And we enjoyed the ambience of the lobby.

Very clean and fresh. Cheery. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. The location was perfect close to shops and dining and ferry terminal.

Traveled by ferry to Catalina Dec 31, 2025-Jan 2, 2026 and we could not have picked a better spot. We are frequent travelers but never to Avalon. After checking the positive reviews we selected Hotel Atwater and after seeing many of the options I could not have been happier. Location is perfect. It is a modern hotel with great history and design. I was late scheduling during a busy New Years weekend, but managed a king room. They may have been larger than ours which of given a choice I might have opted for, but it was perfect for what it needed to be. Clean, comfortable, modern and classy all at the same time. Staff was great, even the luggage guy at the pier. He let me on to the Circuit app, highly recommend for getting around. As a daily coffee drinker having a unit in the room would have been nice, but then I may have missed out on the wonderful bistro which is steps away from the main desk. Over the course of our trip and traveled the island and specifically looked at some of the other options. For an older, well traveled couple who valued service, cleanliness and location, I will only want to book Hotel Avalon for future trips.

The perfect Avalon hotel. As we enjoyed a free night stay on Catalina and explored Avalon, we would pass by other hotels and smile, so happy and almost smug at how much better OUR hotel was. We stayed in the Phillip Knight suite and a double queen room and enjoyed everything the hotel had to offer from candy in the lobby to the chess set and games, to using the beach chairs and towels and sipping the complimentary prosecco. This hotel is legit good.

Oh and Avalon and Catalina are perfection.

We enjoyed staying there. It wants me to keep writing. Clean. Convenient. Friendly staff. Phew I got to 100.
