Well located, but overall experience was inconsistent
Pros:

The location was convenient, offering good access to work, nearby leisure facilities, and alternative food outlets, which was helpful given that meals were not always available on site. On-site parking was also a benefit. I also received a friendly welcome on arrival, which was appreciated.

Cons:

The staff experience during my stay was inconsistent, ranging from friendly and engaging to, at times, dismissive and borderline rude.

On arrival, I had to move rooms due to a maintenance issue, which I completely understand can happen. However, the replacement room felt quite dark and not particularly clean, which was disappointing.

Housekeeping was also lacking. There were no visits between Monday and Wednesday, and it wasn’t until Thursday that I received fresh towels and replenished tea and coffee.

I also experienced ongoing issues with my room key, which had to be reassigned daily as it didn’t seem to remain active. After long working days of 12–13 hours, this became increasingly frustrating. On Thursday, the response from the bar staff when I needed assistance with this felt noticeably irritated, which added to the experience.

On departure, I approached reception to request a copy of my invoice. The individual present was abrupt and unhelpful, and it turned out they did not work on reception. A more appropriate response would have been to politely redirect or assist in arranging for the invoice to be sent, rather than the manner in which it was handled.

There were also some inconsistencies around food availability. I was informed that meals were not served on Mondays, then on Tuesday due to functions, and on Wednesday evening I was too late for the carvery, with only a sandwich option available.

That said, I would like to highlight that the food I did receive on Wednesday was very good, and the staff that evening were particularly friendly and welcoming.

This venue had been recommended to me by a friend who spoke very highly of the service, staff, and food, so I do appreciate that my experience may not reflect the usual standard. However, during my stay, there were several areas where service and communication could be improved.

Very good location especially for shopping.
Pros:

Central to Rotherham and also close to Meadowhall. On the doorstep of retail world at Parkgste.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Very good food
Good social nights on Fridays and Sundays.

Cons:

There seemed to be short staffing at times which affected bar service at times.

Fulfilled expectations, thank you.
Pros:

The staff was extremely nice, so courteous and understanding to my situation as a guest, which I greatly appreciated. The business that I had travelled for in Rotherham meant that my check-in and check-out times would be awkward, but that inconvenience was lessened by The Fitzwilliam Hotel. Thank you for your hospitality.

Cons:

It's a budget hotel. To me, it exceeded my expectations. I therefore have nothing to complain about.

The property was close to the place where we had to be in the morning. The room was clean and tidy. Had tea/coffee. Bit impossible to sleep in that room unfortunately

Cons:

The music in the pub in the hotel was very loud and was till midnight. The hotel also has a function room where music was till midnight as well. Not possible to sleep before midnight.
At 8 am another constant noise started from somewhere in the hotel, was there when we left.
You can not regulate temperature in the shower.

Pros:

Staff are welcoming and sort any problems you have. Near to shops and all in walking distance. I use this hotel everytime im stopping in that area.

Cons:

Pilliows are a little uncomfotable and the cold water on the shower didn't work so couldn't use it apart from that everything else was fine.

If men’s working club/social club is your vibe or if you can overlook it for an affordable place to stay on the tram
