Cllean room - friendly reception staff - easy to check in
At 10.50pm they d uh don’t want us to have a drink at the bar - making it very u comfortable when we asked
the room we booked was down 51 stairs along corridors etc. not suitable for elderly people so we had to upgrade to a more suitable room. had we know when booking the room we would not have bothered.
the location was ideal for us and the staff were very helpful and very pleasant. Breakfast was good and arrived quickly which was appreciated as we had to be at a funeral in South shields at 9.30am. the bar and restaurant were well decorated so pleasant to use. We also appreciated the free parking.
Once through the doors leading to the bedrooms the corridors were dark and dingy and whilst not really dirty they looked like they were. We are a couple in our 80s and the route to our room no 132 was difficult with so many stairs and long corridors. Maybe it should be noted in the hotel description that the hotel is not suitable for those with reduced mobility.
The bedroom was adequate but with shabby old furniture. We only needed 1 night but wouldnt have stayed longer. Shame as this was the hotel we had our wedding reception 58 years ago.

It was a bit of a labrinth on getting to our room at basement level. Wouldve been difficult with bigger bags. But doable.

The loud music from the bar downstairs was audible through the ceiling in room 112 to the point you could "name that tune" good news was it stopped by 10pm.
Seafront location, car park on site, proximity to good restaurant next door, well stocked.bar that was open late for hotel guests.
Bar was quite noisy some.evenings with loud music audible in bedrooms above the.bar. car park was full when function on at the hotel. No.other.local.parking.
