The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I really appreciate the courtesy call to my room after checking in just to make sure everything was ok.
Nice hotel where I needed it in the city.
No swimming pool, hot tub or sauna.
Convenient

This is a review for The Inn On Sheridan, but I must give a backstory first.
We booked for five nights Feb 17-22, 2026 to see our daughter graduate Navy RTC in Great Lakes and visit relatives in Chicago one day. From the airport to the rental car to the booking through VRBO, nearly everything was a small disaster. VRBO never sent the directions and check-in info directly, only an email with links, but no specifics of even the name of the hotel where this VRBO room was located. The directions link they provided using Google Maps or Apple Maps, took us through South America, adjacent to Cuba. The phone number for the host returned, “Your call could not be completed at this time.” While parked on a dark corner in God knows where, Chicago crime corner, we reached out to VRBO customer service but the person barely spoke English. More than 45 minutes of on hold while we spelled out everything and waited for her multiple attempt to gather info from the host, we were finally provided the hotel name, so I found our address and we drove to The Inn On Sheridan. We were checked into room 300; last room, top floor, longest wing. It was clean and we were happy to be done with the arduous travel day. We hardly slept that night the beds were broken down, there was a loud, random clanking from the bathroom ceiling as well as a terribly noisy AC unit with no cover over the controls that was super brightly lit up. There was so much light and road noise coming from our corner two windows on the main road that we were doomed to be up all night.
Sounds abysmal, but allow me to continue.
I messaged the VRBO host who basically said take it up with the hotel. My understanding is that these short-term rental companies lease out a cluster of rooms that are at a discount, usually because they’re up for renovation. They become their maintained property and usually slap some lipstick on the pig, and sublet reduced-level housekeeping through the hotel. Yet rent these to us poor souls at what typically is the same or higher price than the hotels best rate.
I went to the desk and the manager, Abby was phenomenal. She’s empathetic, caring, a great listener, and moved us immediately into a great room. Everything was in excellent condition, properly stocked linens, comfortable beds, fully functional appliances, properly closing blackout shades, and quiet. Tragedy averted. Over the next several days we purchased another room for our Sailor who was supposed to be granted overnight liberty, but was denied last minute. The staff fully refunded that room same day without question. Our daughter was again granted overnight liberty for the next two nights as they didn’t have her orders for A school. We reserved another room again, picked her up (which is on government time), grabbed lunch, drove back to the hotel, and got a call on the way that she was recalled and had to be back in a few hours again. She was terribly distraught, but they own her now. We got her supplies and took her back to RTC. When we got back to the hotel I asked if it was possible to cancel that extra room again, and they cancelled it again without a hitch. Amazing, and based on their policy, we’re not obligated.
Our daughter received her orders to fly out immediately, so we moved our flight home up a day and checked with VRBO to see if there was any rate reduction to cancel the last day with more than 24 hour notice. They again said it’s up to the hotel. I asked but didn’t expect, and they went right to work on it. Due to VRBO paying a lump sum in advance using a virtual credit card, they couldn’t make the adjustment but said they’d talk to the manager and see what they could do. After reaching back out to VRBO with that info, and the hotel manager reaching out to them, they were so kind to refund part of our unused stay.
Let me say this, VRBO is terrible. It’s our third and last time ever booking through them.
The Inn On Sheridan however, is spectacular! Not the most up to date or fanciest place, but amazing value for the price and literally the best customer service I’ve ever experienced traveling. Across the board, the staff is top notch. From Abby (Abigail), Rosa, Jocelyn, Heaven, and one other lady that I forgot her name (sorry), all at the desk, to the shuttle driver, Carl, and the hospitality gal on floor 2, Maria L., we were treated like the most important people in the world.
Thank you, wonderful staff at The Inn On Sheridan, for making our very difficult, and bittersweet trip very comfortable. Your generosity and grace for our sailors and their families is uncanny. Sincerely, thank you.
The moral of the story, BOOK YOUR STAY HERE directly with the hotel.
Didn’t stay for breakfast
Option if get early though not $50. Maybe check in , leave bag elsewhere and come back after 4
It is conveniently located near my family. The restaurant across the street, Dada Soul had some amazing food.
Advertised a room that is pictured below that wasn’t available. I have stayed before and wanted that room. The room I received had a place to cook something but no place to eat. The pictured chair has not been cleaned since the opening! I would not sit a sock there less known my body. The front desk clerk had no knowledge of the room structures.
100%
We stayed at the Inn at Sheridan while traveling from San Diego to Chicago for my husband’s military graduation. We traveled with three minors and one adult, and from the start, the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming.
We booked two rooms: a queen with a balcony and a king with a fireplace. We instantly fell in love with the balcony room, especially since it snowed while we were there, which was absolutely beautiful. The kids loved going out on the balcony to see the snow. The king room’s fireplace kept the room warm and cozy, which was a nice bonus.
The staff was very accommodating and made sure our rooms were on the same floor, just a few doors apart. The free breakfast was also a nice touch. We ended up extending our stay by two days, and the staff made rebooking the same rooms quick and easy.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience and will definitely stay here again if we’re ever in Chicago. Thank you to the amazing staff, 10/10!
The only downsides were that the washer and dryer were out of service, and the bathrooms are on the smaller side with some worn doors, but neither affected our stay.
The location was great and Abby, who checked us in, was fabulous. She gave us a listing of local restaurants and even upgraded our room, since it was our anniversary. The breakfast was also very good.
