Overall it was okay considering it was a last minute stay.
Pros:

The front desk receptionist was amazing, very nice and understanding.

Cons:

My room had mold on the curtains but they were nice enough to change them. The gym equipment wasn't working. Also didn't like that my key cards wasn't working.

Pros:

The location was perfect. Close to the navy base. Also food and entertainment was very close within a few miles to what ever you needed. The hotel shuttle was perfect. We didn't have to stress over traffic and lines. We felt safe and very comfortable staying here. We asked for rooms to be close. The rooms was right across for each other. Overall I gave a 10 out of 10. We have no complaints at all. Everyone from front desk to housekeeping and shuttle was very helpful and nice. The hotel was beautiful.

Cons:

We have no complaints at all. Our two days was perfect.

Disappointed
Pros:

The Inn on Sheridan is listed as a 3-star boutique hotel, but I found the conditions disappointing even by lower standards.

Cleanliness and Room Condition:
There was noticeable dirt and grime in the room. The desk chair had vinyl almost entirely peeled off the seat (see photo). The TV periodically lost service and took significant time to reconnect.

Advertised Services Not Available:
I was unable to reach room service and had to go to the restaurant to pick up food instead. When I mentioned this at checkout, staff informed me they advertise the service but aren't responsible for providing it—that's the restaurant's job. This is misleading to guests.

Safety and Liability Concerns:
A bee flew into my room through the balcony door. I asked the front desk if they had anything to kill it. They handed me a spray bottle of cleaner and asked me to bring it back. I was put in an awkward position and ended up handling it myself. If anything had gone wrong, it would have been my responsibility. When I expressed this concern, staff said they did exactly what I asked for—but I shouldn't have had to explicitly request that a staff member assist with a safety issue. A simple "I can check what we have or send someone to assist" would have been appropriate and professional.

Staff Responsiveness:
I asked that my concerns be shared with management but haven't heard back.

What Worked:
The location is excellent—convenient to the Metra, Illinois State Beach Park, and an Aldi nearby. Staff accommodated early check-in ($30 for 2 hours) and late checkout ($35 for 2-3 hours), which was helpful but felt like nickel-and-diming.

Note for families:
Groups frequently smoked in designated non-smoking areas at night, including recreational marijuana. Families with small children or those with lung conditions may want to be aware.
