On entering the hotel we were greeted by Zach. Probably one of the best front desk experiences I’ve had - and I travel extensively. Above and beyond. A complimentary upgrade to a suite from a jnr suite was the first thing.
Secondly after discovering there wasn’t an ice bucket in the room, I popped to reception.
Zack told me to head back to the room and he’d sort it.
5 mins later, there he was with a bucket of ice and a smile.
“If there’s anything else we can do, let me know.”
First class.
The room is bright, extremely clean, the air conditioning is efficient and quiet. Brilliant airport hotel. Bravo.
The hotel is lovely and well maintained. The rooms were perfectly clean.
The prices of the food in the restaurant were outrageous. At least the food was good and the service was fantastic.
I thought the hotel was at the airport. It’s a mile from the terminal and it was an extra £18 to get a taxi there!
All good
Nothing
Most things
Expensive drinks at the bar
Room was kept at a comfortable temperature for a good nights sleep
One lift was out of service, not easy if you're on third floor
Many of the self service places of fruit and cold cuts were empty
Beautiful well designed rooms, exceptionally quiet given location, great facilities (didnt have enough time to enjoy all), lovely bathrooms, exceptional food
Nothing!
Great layout & clean, comfortable
Leisure club, pool, gym, comfortable room and very clean.
Nothing.
Parking situation is good. Close to the airport and donington park. Facilities were immaculate.
Design of the hotel is nice. Easy to find the room. Room was lovely. Bathroom very nice and clean. The staff are very polite, nice and helpful, I was very surprised, especially Mick at the front desk, very pleased with how he helped us.
N/A
Given its next to an airport the hotel is quiet.
There is a clear rip off attitude across the hotel. £15 a night parking (announced after you book), 6.50 for sides for a main (eg add 6.50 for chips for a 19.50 burger) - nothing is included as you would normally expect. No water on second night if you book a room for two nights (why?), aircon capped at around 22 degrees - to keep hotel costs down) - when its hot outside this means a very warm room at night. Staff are equally embarrassed and often highly defensive about the overt price grab attitude. The food is also very average chain hotel style but at silly prices (£42 for a basic sirloin steak and remember no sides at all so 'Steak and chips' would be 48.50). The sum result: the customer feels genuinely undervalued and ripped off which is a disappointment as this could be a really good hotel in an area which sorely needs one. We've stayed here at least twice a year with several rooms when at Donington Park for many years (10?) and spent thousands of pounds. We will no longer be using this for our team and guests.
