Categories

Cleanliness
5.5
Mixed reports: several guests praised clean, modern rooms and leisure areas, but there are multiple serious cleanliness complaints (stains, mould, filthy bathroom edges, glasses left outside, smelly spa drain and eggy stream).
Service
9
Consistently positive staff feedback: reception and multiple team members described as friendly, helpful and professional; guests repeatedly noted good service and helpfulness.
Location
8
Generally favourable: handy location with pleasant canal/field views for some rooms; some road noise reported when balcony/doors are open.
Room Quality
7
Mixed room quality: some rooms described as clean, modern and comfortable (nice views, comfy beds), while others reported small bathrooms, worn/tired decor and problematic beds with exposed springs.
Amenities
8.5
Leisure facilities are a strong point: spa, pool, jacuzzi and sauna receive high praise; however some spa areas and changing rooms were described as tired or with flaking paint and the lift failures impacted access.
Value for Money
7.5
Perceived as reasonable value by some guests (price and included breakfast noted), but issues with food quality and tired hotel areas temper the value impression for others.
Food and Beverage
6.5
Mixed to negative: continental breakfast had good choice for some, but cooked breakfast and several evening meals were criticised as greasy, lukewarm or poor quality; limited vegetarian options and occasional items out of stock.
Overall Experience
8
Overall mixed but leaning positive: many guests enjoyed the spa, pool, friendly staff and would recommend, yet several stays were spoiled by food issues, lift problems, cleanliness concerns or booking errors.

We enjoyed our stay, and we look forward to staying again.
Pros:

I found the hotel to be good value for money and all the staff were kind and helpful.

Cons:

The hot beverages at breakfast, the machines were always busy. When you went for the cooked breakfast lids were left off the container or not put back properly- hence the content were not always as hot as they should be - that is the other guests not staff.

Dinner menu very unexciting.
Canal view not worth it.
Room small.

Like the location and the hotel but the rooms are in need of some renovation work
Pros:

Location

Cons:

The shower base tiles are appalling. They are covered in mould and limescale and in need of a good clean. Bathrooms are small and bottom of door was very badly chipped. The bedroom carpet also had an area with tape on it.

Very poor communication and accommodation cancelled on checking in!
Cons:

Our room was overbooked and therefore our accommodation was cancelled at check in. We drove 3 hours and received no prior notification from the hotel. We’d received a notification 2 weeks before our stay confirming our booking and asking whether we wished to book a table for dinner. Very poor service and extremely disappointing!

Pros:

Breakfast was great with lots of choice.

Cons:

We ordered an extra bed to be added to our room on the Saturday night as a friend couldn't stay for both nights. On arriving back at the hotel at 2am, the bed wasn't set up and no bedding was left. When we reported this to reception, they were very apologetic and sorted it straight away. Just not what you want to be doing after a long day and night at a wedding at 2 in the morning. The extra bed charge was removed from out bill.

Pros:

The grounds to the hotel and spa were lovely, lots of little bridges and it was right by a canal. Great views out of our bedroom window.

The room was clean and functional. The spa was clean and had plenty of saunas, steam rooms, pool and Turkish bath type pool. Showers in the spa were powerful, lockers handy no need for change. Towels provided.

Cons:

On the first night we noticed a steam room was closed along with a smaller spa room. Some tiles had come away from the shower( making it look a mess ) in the spa area by the pool.. it is in need of some maintenance.

Our bedroom was quite small considering it had a table two chairs and a huge dressing desk ...not necessarily needed.
