Hotel building site
Pros:

Bit disappointed as the hotel gym was being rebuilt at the time which meant there wasn’t a gym available and construction work started at breakfast and went on most the day. This wasn’t mentioned when we booked it

Ok but not quite the 4 stars we expected
Pros:

Stayed 3 nights. Classed as 4 star but lacked a little. The hotel feels boutique style and is quite lovely. Staff were exceptionally good. In bar area could do enough and it was nice in the evening to sit round the fire pits in bar area. Well done on that. I know we are in the cloud forest but it would be nice to have some of the pool not covered. The whole pool is under cover. Areas around under cover to sit and lounge which is nice, but, we had lovely weather and there was no where outside to sit and enjoy the sun except on chairs at tables or wooden seats by the fire pit. Enjoyed our stay but on reflection we probably think 2 nights is enough. Plenty to do in the area and the transport is top notch though. The rooms are quite small and basic. Our shower was dreadful. Water running out of sides not through shower head did report it on check out so hope they have prepared it. Not really what you expect for 4 stars. Did not eat in restaurant as wanted to experience costa rica local food. Breakfast was OK but not fantastic. Lot of maintenance going on too around the place which was a tad annoying . Not sure we would visit here again but the staff were lovely.

Best hotel of trip
Pros:

Probably our favourite hotel of our Costa Rica trip (stayed in x5 places). Quirky, friendly, largest sized family room of the trip. Enjoyed sitting beside the lit fires at night with marshmallows to toast for the kids. Top tip - Explore the lions head beside the toilets in the bar for an extra surprise.

Exceeded all expectations
Pros:

Poco a poco exceeded all our expectations. Like a work of art in and of itself. The designer has created a beautiful space full of plants and art and sculpture every where you look. The staff are so kind and smiley and good fun. The breakfast offering was huge and varied and delicious. The hotel's position so close to all the shops, art galleries and cafes was perfect for us giving us choice on where we wanted to eat. We had a problem with left luggage in a transportation bus, a lost son (for a short while! He was in one of the bathrooms by the spa!) and laundry that we needed washing. Nothing was too much trouble for them to help us with. We went on a night walk in the jungle and a zip lining adventure. All were so much fun, educational and organised so smoothly. There was some refurbishments going on during our stay but they were done very discreetly and didn't effect our stay at all. We just wish we could have stayed longer. We cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Beautiful, comfortable, amenities, great staff
Pros:

We had an amazing experience at Poco a Poco! The hotel is stunning with beautiful rain gardens that make everything look like art, inside and out. Rooms were comfortable and equipped with amenities including drinks and snacks that were included. We had a lovely experience with staff, especially Lily (front desk) and Daniel (wait staff). We would highly recommend and would visit again!

Comfortable but nothing to write home about
Pros:

We had room 42 which was a basic room and what our travel agent had booked, however on arrival the receptionist said they’d upgraded us, but that was not the case. Im not sure why he told us that.

The room was light and the bathroom adequate but the room was very noisy. People above seemed to be moving furniture and stomping about, you could hear every time someone on our corridor closed their door. Builders started early so a lot of noise.
Bed was very comfortable and AC worked fine.

The hot water sometimes took ages to get hot in both sink and shower.

Breakfast was adequate. All the basics but nothing special I’m afraid.

Mini bar was confusing - I believe they said it was free for the first day, but not sure if that was just check in day or first 24 hours.

Gardens were beautiful but pool is covered so sunbathing is not really a thing here and no sun loungers in sight.

Walking distance to a few shops, GP and pharmacy etc which was helpful in our case, and if you walked down the steep hill the other side of the shopping area, there were plenty of restaurants and shops. The Tree House restaurant was excellent.

Would help to have more wardrobe hangers and hooks on doors to hang costs etc.

A very quirkily decorated hotel, and the staff and people we met were all friendly and helpful.

Best stay ever!
Pros:

We had such an amazing stay, I’ve never been so disappointed to leave a hotel/resort before—our stay was too short. We had a fantastic (new) room that was plenty spacious for 4 people. We even had our own jacuzzi/hot tub room! The staff were beyond friendly, especially Sophia whom we encountered at breakfast in the mornings and at the restaurant at dinner (the salmon was delicious!) and times in between. In the evenings they have s’mores around the fires and it’s a great time to visit with other people. Maybe because we were there during the “really rainy season,” we felt as if we had the resort mostly to ourselves. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the nature sounds are unlike anything I’ve ever heard! Highly recommend!!

Our favorite hotel of the trip!
Pros:

We stayed only 2 nights out of our 8 day trip but wish it had been longer. My husband and I and our 2 kids (18 &21) all voted this our favorite hotel of the trip. When we first arrived, we were greeted by very friendly staff, had a quick & modern check-in, and offered a welcome cocktail while our bags were brought to our room for us. I was actually worried because I thought the hotel was going to be too bougie for us, I could NOT have been more wrong. The whole staff was so welcoming and lovely. The way the hotel is laid out, we felt like we had the place to ourselves. Lots of nooks and crannies to relax in. We enjoyed reading in the adirondack chairs, relaxing in the hot tub, enjoying a cocktail at the swim-up bar, walking on the nature path, lounging at the fire pit, etc. A new beautiful view around every corner. The on-site restaurant, Otocuma was fantastic. Breakfast buffet was really good and fresh. Easy to walk to a few stores, bank, and restaurants for something different. Oh, and unique features around every corner - from the quirky little figurines/art scattered throughout to the awesome disco party bathroom...just so much fun. 6 stars!

Amazing hotel!
Pros:

Of our three hotels in Costa Rica, Poco a Poco was the standout. Amazing rooms. We stayed in the Jacuzzi room. Plenty of space, free minibar and laundry, exceptional employees, personal service. Let’s be honest; most luxury hotels nickel and dime you. Not this place - our short stay was so good. Also a great location near many restaurants. I wish we had stayed longer. If you go to Monteverde, stay at Poco a Poco!

Relaxing oasis in the cloud forest
Pros:

A very relaxing and chic boutique hotel with a wonderful open air breakfast bar / sundowner bar overlooking a tropical garden where if you're lucky you can see the likes of summer tanagers and Motmots. The room was modern, spotless and very comfortable. The pool and relaxation area on the lower level was very welcome on a hot day. The next level up had a very stylish chilled open air bar with a comfortable seating area curved around a central fire, a welcome retreat after dinner in the evening. After a day trekking through national parks, Hotel Poco a Poco provided a very welcome retreat.

Great hotel with ideal Monteverde location
Pros:

This was my favorite hotel of our 10 trip to Costa Rica. Room was very comfortable, amenities were good. Breakfast on the hotel patio has a great view of the gardens-- and a bonus for birders, trees right off of the patio hosted numerous birds throughout the day, including a pair of resident mot mots. Saw agoutis in the afternoon when hiking the trail. Avoid the expensive restaurant by walking right across the street to numerous local restaurants and even a well-stocked local supermarket. Also a bakery one block away. Pool, jacuzzi and firepit were great. Free marshmallows for toasting in the evening if you stay there. Would stay again.

A little bit of paradise in Monteverde.
Pros:

Clean, comfortable accommodation with helpful staff. Delicious, healthy, freshly prepared breakfast with friendly attendants. Well kept grounds boasting a stunning terraced culinary herb garden, including the most aromatic shrubs in a small space. A little bit of paradise nestled in the cool hills of Monteverde. I would definitely recommend the Poco a Poco Hotel and Spa, and I absolutely plan to go back.

Fabulous hotel
Pros:

We loved our 2 night stay at this hotel. It was beautiful, spotless, had the best breakfast and had lovely chill out areas after full days of activities. We wish we could have stayed longer and this was our favourite hotel of the five that we have stayed in during this 2 week trip.

Thank you all for being so lovely 🥰
