A very relaxing and chic boutique hotel with a wonderful open air breakfast bar / sundowner bar overlooking a tropical garden where if you're lucky you can see the likes of summer tanagers and Motmots. The room was modern, spotless and very comfortable. The pool and relaxation area on the lower level was very welcome on a hot day. The next level up had a very stylish chilled open air bar with a comfortable seating area curved around a central fire, a welcome retreat after dinner in the evening. After a day trekking through national parks, Hotel Poco a Poco provided a very welcome retreat.
This was my favorite hotel of our 10 trip to Costa Rica. Room was very comfortable, amenities were good. Breakfast on the hotel patio has a great view of the gardens-- and a bonus for birders, trees right off of the patio hosted numerous birds throughout the day, including a pair of resident mot mots. Saw agoutis in the afternoon when hiking the trail. Avoid the expensive restaurant by walking right across the street to numerous local restaurants and even a well-stocked local supermarket. Also a bakery one block away. Pool, jacuzzi and firepit were great. Free marshmallows for toasting in the evening if you stay there. Would stay again.
Great hotel, good location. Very helpful & friendly staff. Love the bar area.
Clean, comfortable accommodation with helpful staff. Delicious, healthy, freshly prepared breakfast with friendly attendants. Well kept grounds boasting a stunning terraced culinary herb garden, including the most aromatic shrubs in a small space. A little bit of paradise nestled in the cool hills of Monteverde. I would definitely recommend the Poco a Poco Hotel and Spa, and I absolutely plan to go back.
The overall hotel grounds and their hospitality was top notch. Great pool and hot tub area and we loved the indoor / outdoor breakfast space. Would definitely stay again!
We loved our 2 night stay at this hotel. It was beautiful, spotless, had the best breakfast and had lovely chill out areas after full days of activities. We wish we could have stayed longer and this was our favourite hotel of the five that we have stayed in during this 2 week trip.
Thank you all for being so lovely 🥰
My husband and I loved this hotel. It felt luxorious to stay there. When we arrived to check in we were welcomed by a lovely lady (I wish I caught her name) who welcomed us with a drink, warm towels and gave us an overview of the resort. She then kindly walked us to our room. Roy very promptly then brought our bag to our room. Every staff member we encountered was so nice, friendly, and helpful. I took advantage of the spa and got a massage which was wonderful after all the tours and hikes we'd been doing! They have two firepits (you can get free marshmallows to roast), a beautiful pool with bar and jacuzzi. There is also a nice nature walk that runs behind and around the property. The resort is very close to town, we could walk to the shops and meals. There is also a very good restaurant on property. We were never bothered by any noise. The rooms and grounds were immaculate. I was bummed we were only there two nights! We had to check out very early our last day and the staff had two boxed breakfasts waiting for us as breakfast wasn't open yet. It was very appreciated!
Very good hotel. Reception & dining room attractive with interesting features. Beautiful garden. Excellent helpful staff.
The hotel was great. Location was excellent, close to shopping, restaurants and all the great activities. The breakfast was great with hot breakfast options, really helped us to start the day. The view from the hotel patio was amazing. We saw some birds and wildlife. The swimming pool and hot tub were beautiful and warm, nice relaxation after the whole day of activities. I recommend this hotel and we will be back!
Great decor ,staff and location across the road from restaurants and supermarkets.
Lots of hummingbirds
great location for exploring cloud and rain forests. We had a very minor issue in our first room and the upgraded us for no charge. Breakfast was excellent, though it is outside and this location was chilly (mid 50s) and windy in the mornings, so we needed sweaters or jackets. The grounds are beautiful and the staff outstanding. The restaurant was good, but a limited menu. It is very near stores, restaurants, etc.
Beautiful hotel in an tropical oasis
Beautiful boutique hotel, with lovely gardens, stunning views, comfortable well equiped rooms, delicious food (we only ate breakfast) and fab 'nothing was too much trouble' staff.
We have 2 suggestions, some lie flat sun beds would be nice and second, (which is for all the hotels we have stayed at) drop your crazy expensive food and drinks prices, we would have had much more in the hotel if you did.
But a truly wonderful stay, non the less.
We really didn't like this hotel at all. When we arrived as a group of four, we were lumped in with a whole load of other people who arrived at the same time for a group check in. I'm fairly certain we didn't get the rooms we booked but we let that go. However, the drains in the bathroom were extremely smelly (and yes I know about the septic tank system but no other hotel in Costa Rica that we stayed in had the same problem). There was nowhere really to sit and have a game of cards so we ended up sitting in the breakfast room which wasn't ideal. Then a member of staff decided to come in and have several loud conversations on the phone which we thought wasn't very professional. Lastly, I ordered an omelette for breakfast which the egg chef totally forgot about. All in all, not a great experience.
Beautiful hotel in a wonderful setting. Rooms are small but service and hospitality great!
This hotel is a strong 5 star property. The hotel is well located, the property is beautifully designed and decorated and the staff so friendly and helpful. The grounds are lovely with a pool, hot tub and a spa should you want to indulge. The breakfast buffet was good and the restaurant excellent.
We loved the ambience of this Hotel. We stayed in the Family garden room which was also near the pool and hottub. This hotel has a very special ambience and we loved the free drinks and snacks that were included with our room.
The morning buffet was delicious and had a lot of variety. The omelet maker "Alex" was so find and polite. He really stood out.
The weather when we were there was very windy and a bit cool so the heated pool and the hot tub were particularly lovely.
A special touch was that the maid brought us little chocolate every night. So lovely!
This hotel was fantastic, a beautiful property within walking distance to the center of Santa Elena.
Our room was spacious and we spent a beautiful evening roasting marshmallows at the fire pit during happy hour with other guests and we enjoyed a great dinner at the restaurant.
In the morning, breakfast was very nice with the view over the forest. We spent some time walking in the herb garden and the forest trails.
100% recommended
Beautiful hotel within 10 mins walk of town centre. Ate in restaurant one night (was best meal of our 3 week vacation). Several shops and restaurants in adjacent commercial centre. Buffet breakfast very good. All staff very competent and welcoming.
We arrived and were warmly greeted by staff, a cool washcloth and juice. This was a really nice touch and made a great first impression, especially with my 11 year old, who was really impressed with this extra touch. The grounds were beautiful and I really enjoyed watching the wildlife on the grounds. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The location was very convenient, in town and right next door to a grocery store, banking and restaurants. My two boys 8 and 11 years really enjoyed the warm pool and marshmallows by the fire. My biggest complaint is that our stay was only two nights and I would have been happy spending more time at Poco a Poco.
