Quirky layout, comfy room and fantastic food.
Pros:

Spacious, clean room. Lovely food in the restaurant for evening meal and breakfast. Friendly staff. Convenient location for onward travel.

Cons:

Would have liked a king size quilt on the double bed.

A gem of a find after a long drive!
Pros:

This was a little gem after a very long drive from South Wales . A great start to our tour of the East coast. Staff were very helpful and they made sure we made the restaurant cut off time. A lovely overnight stay.

Cons:

It was a cold through the night but given the time of year, that's understandable.

The Stair Arms is a welcoming and comfortable hotel.
Pros:

Breakfast was cooked to order and ranged from cereals and toast to a full cooked breakfast. The scrambled egg on croissant was tasty and big portion. The only downside was breakfast begins at 8am and on our first morning we had to leave the hotel prior to this but the staff did offer a packed lunch and were super helpful.

As a family of 3 this proved a good price option and we could all stay in the one room ( double and single bed). Unlike some hotels this room wasn’t specified as two adults and a child so this was a positive for us.

There was a very efficient plug in heater so the bedroom was warm.

Cons:

Just to let others know there is some traffic noise in the bedroom we had at the front of the hotel.

The bathroom is a shower over a bath and with no grab rail or non slip mat this did cause some difficulties for some of our group.

Pros:

The staff were friendly and helpful.
The food was very good. My daughter especially liked the brie and cranberry starter. As she suffered from seizures, we were later for breakfast, but that didn't faze the staff.
The location was lovely. Our dog loved running around the garden.
Great dog friendly hotel.

Cons:

The room was too hot for me, and couldn't turn off heating. Someone else might have liked that but we can't sleep well when it's too hot.
The shower was unusable, the shower head was too loose so the water just hit the wall.
This was something we just dealt with, didn't bother to mention to staff, which is us, this was because my daughter was unwell and it was last thing on my mind. I'm sure after they read this it will be sorted coz they seemed the kind of staff who would do whatever to your stay comfortable.

Exceeded our expectations by a country mile!
Pros:

It started well with a warm welcome. Our ajoining rooms were ideal and the food and service in the restaurant were top notch. The decor is so restful and well designed, it was just lovely. Planning to book a stay again soon.

Cons:

Really nothing. The location on the main road makes it easy to find, but there's no road noise as the modern renovation is of very high quality.

Great Midlothian getaway

Beautiful hotel the refurbishment has made it even more exceptional.

We had a beautiful meal in the restaurant where the food was cooked to perfection.

Comfortable and peaceful stay in a beautiful room that was very very clean

Cons:

Only slight negative is the water pressure for the shower it's so weak it took me about 30mins to wash my hair and don't attempt to turn the heat up or it becomes scalding and takes forever to get the correct temperature.

Great place to stay, will deniately be back.
Pros:

The Satff are great, the bedrooms are spacious and clean.
The Breafast was fantastic!

Cons:

The rooms can be VERY hot and the windows don't open. The showers are not that strong.
