Staff and service.
Unfortunately, the property is surrounded by Portimão’s very tall buildings. From the photos shown before booking, it looks as though it is located on a fairly secluded beach, whereas in reality it is right in the middle of town, surrounded by tall and rather unattractive buildings.
The villa itself could be very beautiful, but the rooms, and especially the bathrooms, are definitely in need of renovation. In my opinion, it is certainly not up to the standard of the other Relais & Châteaux properties I have stayed at.
I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the staff. The only disappointing detail was that, the day after check-out, I received an email informing me that I had been charged €6 for some crisps that were in the room, despite there being no price list provided. It is obviously not about the six euros, but after spending €2,000 for two rooms for just one night, it did make me smile.
Overall, this is definitely not a hotel I would recommend to guests who are accustomed to the standards of Relais & Châteaux properties.

A fantastic hotel. The location is right in a tourist area overlooking the beach but it's set back away from the crowds so it's quiet and peaceful. The room we stayed in was pure luxury.
We stayed during our anniversary and the staff could not do anymore to make it feel special for us. All the staff went out of their way to wish us well.
The pool area and dining area are beautiful and not having to rush out to get a table or sun lounger was such a luxury.
This is definitely somewhere to go.

Accessing the hotel. Getting to the property by rental car in the evening with the streets filled with people and not knowing we needed a code number to enter a street with a pin and not having the code number. We drove in circles for an hour.

The most wonderful hotel in the Algarve! Exceptional service, stunning property and outstanding touches at every turn! Probably one of the most extraordinary hotels I’ve ever stayed at! Even having a partial ocean view we had zero complaints as every room had exceedingly extraordinary views! Highly accommodating to my daughter with celiac disease! Special shout out to Vera at reception for offering excellent service and to all the pool attendants, waiters and the staff serving the outstanding breakfast buffet! If you have the chance to stay at the Bela Vista do not hesitate for a moment! Highly recommend.
We had an incredible stay at the Bela Vista. It was stunning and the staff were wonderful. The food was delicious, especially the breakfast! Our room was so beautiful and spacious. The pool set up was wonderful and the temperature was perfect. It was quiet even though the hotel was at full capacity. It felt so romantic and special. I would highly recommend this hotel and would come again!

The staff all exceptional, the service and best of all the Vista restaurant. Worthy of 3 Michelin stars not 1. The chef is amazing the seafood tasting menu incredible. I am not a seafood lover but enjoyed every single thing. The crab doughnut out of this world. Feel so lucky to have experienced the meal. Lovely chef who takes his work seriously and everyone makes you feel so welcome.

Bela vita restaurant for lunch for son birthday: outstanding food, very professional service and special touches. Thanks to pastry chef who prepared an amazing cake as a surprise for my son ( not requested ). Amazing place, second time!

Perhaps the most beautiful, well run hotel I’ve ever visited. Fun and stylish without being pretentious or fussy. Incredibly helpful and kind team working here. Our room in the “beach house” section was impeccable; the bed was beyond comfortable and the outdoor furnishings made lingering by the sea perfect for morning coffee and evening stargazing. The pool and service by the pool was perfect. Attention to detail is everywhere; the chaise cushions by the pool are thicker than most hotel mattresses and made of the most beautiful fabric. Breakfast was bountiful and delicious. Dinners at both Vista and Bella are a must! My only note of caution is that it takes a good 45 minutes to get to Lagos from here with all of the summer traffic and roundabouts every half mile so we didn’t quite get to explore the surrounding Algarve to the extent we had hoped. But the property is so beautiful and we were never in a rush to leave.
We gave a lot of thought to which hotel to choose for the final of our trip to Portugal. Bela Vista was the best decision we could have made! It offered a beachfront location, a beautiful historic building, excellent service, rooms with a sea view, wonderful food, a spa where you just want to linger, and—above all—the people: we felt so welcome and warmly received. Every wish was fulfilled. We extend our sincere thanks and hope to visit again.
We had an excellent experience. Prior to arriving we were in Lisbon seeing the sights with family. We then travelled by train to spend several days on the beach at Bela Vista. The entire experience was 5 star. The accommodations were comfortable, the food amazing and the overall peace and relaxation was just what we were looking for. The staff make it a truly memorable experience. We hope to return!
