Dunster Castle is one of the best hotels I have stayed in, I enjoyed my and I will definitely return
Pros:

This is an exceptionally good, family-run hotel. I have never previously experienced such attention to detail in relation to every aspect of the hotel. The rooms are superbly equipped, the breakfast was outstanding and the staff are friendly, polite and efficient. It was one of those rare occasions when I felt that everything was focused on the comfort of the guest.

Cons:

Nothing

Would highly recommend this hotel and we would definitely stay again.
Pros:

This is a fabulous, friendly, family run hotel. We were made to feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. Every little detail had been thought of from a tot of sherry in the room to ordering breakfast for our dog! We enjoyed the freedom of using the hotel lounge in the evening and being able to park at the hotel was a real bonus. The breakfast was absolutely excellent - one of the best we have ever had. Thank you for having us.

Pros:

Excellent. Gluten free needs catered for.

Cons:

The bed was one of the most uncomfortable we've ever slept in. It needed a much firmer mattress and was rather small for a large adult

Very pleasant stay overall but would check location of room when booking if you have mobility issues
Pros:

Fantastic location, welcoming hardworking and kind hosts. Breakfast was really tasty and well cooked. Communal areas comfortable and beautifully furnished .On site parking very useful. Nice touches in the bedrooms. Nice and clean.

Cons:

We knew our room was on the second floor but we didn't know that the staircase is to it was extremely narrow and incredibly steep. Husband has mobility issues so this was very tricky .Best to check this when you book. My mum stayed in a room where the heating ducting ran parallel with thd room. She was unable to sleep due to a constant hum.

Excellent
Pros:

The owners very exceedingly helpful, kind and went above and beyond to accommodate my intolerances. The accommodation was impressive, very clean and spacious. The food was exceptional with very attentive service from Claire. Our evening meal was a roast dinner with 7 different vegetables cooked perfectly. The breakfast was amazing. All the food was delicious and we couldn’t rate this stay highly enough. The welcome sherry was a very nice touch. We were celebrating our anniversary and the stay at the Dunster Castle just made it perfect. Thank you both.

Will definitely stay again.
Pros:

Superb! Gorgeous cafetiere coffee, a small decanter of sherry in my room, finger shortbread in my room, beautifully decorated room and well fitted out bathroom.

Cons:

Nothing of entertainment in the hotel, even though it was New Year's Eve.

Great potential but probably won’t return
Pros:

The location in the village centre was great.

Cons:

The lady who checked us in and brought our breakfast (the owner I believe) was kind, friendly and helpful. But the feeling my husband and I had overall was that the hotel felt a little unloved.

The rooms weren’t very clean unfortunately and the bar area, which could have been a cosy hub, was closed so there weren’t really any amenities.

Between Christmas and New Year can be an odd time of year in hospitality, but there were several guests and so it felt like a little more could have been done to give a warm and cosy atmosphere.

I am sorry to write this because the lady was so nice, but for future guests, it’s important to be honest about our experience.

The hosts were so friendly and welcoming, couldn't do enough for us. They even booked us a table at a local restaurant. Delicious breakfast and choice. Super comfortable bed and we had a lovely attic room. Dunster is beautiful and we highly recommend Dunster Castle Hotel. We will be back!
