This is a hard review to write because we do like the place. It’s right in the middle of town and so an easy walk to anywhere. All the units are ocean front, and right on the beach. There's plenty of storage for clothes. All the staff are pleasant and speak enough English to get by. There are lots of lounge chairs and palapas and umbrellas. There is a supermarket right across the street. Most of the guests, like us, are older, so it’s very quiet. And there is a great restaurant on the premises. So, what’s not to like?
Well, there’s no coffee in the room, a big disappoint for us. You can get coffee if you go down three flights, cross the parking lot into the lobby, and then do the reverse carrying two cups. The bath lighting is horrible. There are just two hooks for towels and only one hand towel with no place to hang it. You cannot get your hand under the sink faucet to wash. I could not stop a puddle from getting on the floor when showering, and the shower stall barely drained. The mattress is soft and saggy, the pillows lumpy, and though a king, our feet hung off the end of the bed. There’s no chair or desk, and the outlet by the bed was broken. They require a deposit for beach towels and a hairdryer.
So, would I stay here again? This is the only beachfront hotel in Puerto Morelos that I could find, and we don’t much care for Airbnb. So probably yes, we would.
The pool was a lot of fun, every room had a beautiful view of the beach and ocean and the location is very convenient to walk everywhere. The staff was great.
Last year I happened upon the Hacienda Morelos by luck. I was very impressed by the location, the cleanliness and the friendly staff. Happy to say all three are still intact. (I guess the location probably couldn't change!).
This is neither the newest or fanciest hotel, but you cannot beat the location or the value. The rooms are left spotless daily. You also are near all the activity without being subjected to loud music every night until the wee hours.
For shorter term stays this is the place to be. They also have a private strip of beach and an excellent dive/snorkel shop and restaurant which i have reviewed separately.
Next time in Puerto Morelos they can expect to see me again.
Thanks
Booked the hacienda hotel for the third time using WestJet hotels.com
We mistakenly booked the wrong day by one day and are trying to get help from both the hotel and WestJet but neither one wants to help change the date by one day. Any company not willing to move a date by one day will never get our business again.
Very simple fix but obviously not for a larger corporation
So just be careful to never make an honest mistake as these companies will not help.
Nice big room with fridge and safe. Large terrace on 1st floor overlooking the pool, beach & sea. Bathroom a little dated but clean and functional with large shower and lots of hot water. Great location with beach access and plenty of sun loungers round pool and on beach for exclusive use. Great restaurant attached to hotel (Meulle Once) super location and tasty food. Walking distance to everywhere. A great place to stay at a reasonable price.
I had a beautiful view of the beach, never thought I'd like being so close.
Beach view. Relaxing
This hotel could easily be a 4 or even 5 star hotel with just a few modifications. The location being beachfront with pool is easily a 4 start hotel. The rooms could use a bit of an upgrade. The bed was very comfortable and the air con and tv worked. We could wake to the sun rise. However, we were told that the did not supply water, a fridge or coffee pot in the room. What they did not tell you was that there was coffee in the lobby starting at 7am and there was a water dispenser for cold and hot!! They said that there was not a fridge in the room and their was! We would have planned a bit differently if we knew these things. The lights in the bathroom were ok, but ladies don't try to put on any make up. I have learned to always bring my own hand and wash towels in Mexico. No hair dryer. The lights in the room were also ok, but only ceiling lights. The plugs were difficult when trying to use phone chargers as they were in the same place as the turn on/off switch for the lights. But we did get it to work. Next time we will bring an extension cord! We had a little patio and the chairs could stand to be replaced. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel that had a fabulous breakfast, but we didn't try it for dinner as there were too many others to try. Being beach front I can see when it is busy they do not have enough umbrellas for shade, but it was slow while we were there. The other GREAT thing was that this part of the beach has a long Sargasso barrier. Not sure how well it works during the height of the season, but we had very little when we were told by passers by that further down the beach by one of the resorts, they could not even get in the water. Bottom line is that we don't like far from PM, and love little get aways. We will come back to this hotel and we will stay longer than 3 nights.
Very quaint hotel older well kept except room 102 had a gap that let in mosquitoes and ants in . On top and Btm of door . They had a foam strip across but you can still see lots of light in between the door and outside . Best room for gorgeous sunrise from bed ! Mgr changed our room all was good . 102 best sunrise views !
Beautiful hotel with wonderful staff in an interesting walkable location.
We have been to Puerto Morelos 5 times and have stayed here every time. The staff is SO nice. The hotel is a little older, its not one of the fancy resorts but it is ON the beach. Across from the grocery store and within walking distance of anything you could need. Muelle Once is the restaurant there and it is DELICIOUS. Have the pancakes!!! Absolutely recommend Hacienda Morelos 200%
Awesome view
We stayed at Hacienda for 5 days recently. The location is great - you can walk to the Centro and to many restaurants and shops.
The beds were pretty hard / not comfortable.
The beach was nice and clean. Plenty of seats and shade.
Overall we would stay here again.
This place is so cute. It’s in the perfect location, the beach is very well maintained and pretty, and the amenities are fantastic. Would absolutely return.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the hotel was in a great location. The beach area was well kept, and the pool was always clean. The restaurant food was great and so was the staff.
Great location. Pool was nice and the hotel is on the beach. Its not a 5 star hotel but good in comparison to what's around.
The best place.
Hacienda Morelos is an absolutely wonderful property! The staff is top notch and the convenience of eateries nearby and the supermarket is unmatched. The hotel restaurant is pricey, but decent. There are plenty more places nearby that are so much better! I’m already planning my next stay at Hacienda Morelos.
For those looking for accommodations that are not a big, all inclusive resort, Hacienda Morelos is an amazing option!! The hotel staff were all very friendly and check in was easy. After settling in to our room, we headed out for dinner and some basic groceries. Upon returning to the hotel for the night we had a few issues with the room. I talked to Dori at the front desk about those issues and she quickly trouble shooted and moved us to a new room. Given we now had more stuff than we started with, she even helped us move our things. The hotel is right on the beach with great views! Downstairs, just off the main lobby is a wonderful restaurant, Muelle Once! Service and food were great each time we visited. Additionally, OMDelfin, a dive/snorkel outfitter is on property. This made doing a trip out to the reef very easy and convenient. The hotel has a great location. It is close to the town center, the super market, and many restaurants and shops. Puerto Morelos has a great, chill vibe and you can’t go wrong staying at this hotel.
Very quiet hotel with laid back vibe. Lots of shopping and food options near by. Nice beach area. Restaurant at hotel had great food and service.
