Love the central location, right on the Tashkent metro. The "Soviet charm" still makes it quite appealing.
I hate the smoke smell and the look of a sleezy bar and the cheap casino look right at the lobby / entrance. I stayed there in 2024 and the 2026 renovation looks tacky.
This is an iconic place, amazing architecture. Great location.
Unfortunately, besides the location and architecture, I didn’t enjoy the stay.
Let’s start with the biggest concern: warm water. It seems that warm water is only enabled in specific hours, I believe 7-12 and after 18. I learned that hard way when I had to go out early and was taking a shower at 6am, in cold water. I contacted the reception about it, they said they will call a master to check it. Then in the afternoon, same situation, also reported. Then I noticed a pattern in the hours and also saw other comments about the same. I would have appreciated if the reception simply told me the truth instead of pretending it was a technical failure?
Slow elevators, sometimes waiting up to 5 minutes.
Breakfast could be improved as well, in the end this is a prestigious hotel in Tashkent and I’ve seen better breakfasts in cheaper places.
WiFi randomly stops working, sometimes for 5 minutes, sometimes for 30.
Also, it is loud - take earplugs with you. During my stay there was loud music coming either from the restaurant downstairs or some nearby place, and seems that night quiet hours don’t exist there because one of the nights the music was up until 3-4am.
Wonderful, old USSR style hotel.... nostagic! Good location, close walking distance to Metro, and just a few minutes from the "walking street" where they have some nice 2nd hand sellers. Breakfast offers a good selection
A shame that you have to share tables in the breakfast area. Would be much nicer if the tables could be smaller, i.e. seat 4 max.
I gave 2/10 just because of the spacious rooms and the location. Otherwise nothing works with this hotel.
The hotel felt neglected, and unfortunately the staff was often unfriendly and at times quite rude. Cleanliness was a major issue throughout the property — the room carpet was visibly dirty, with hair, food remnants, and other debris still present upon arrival.
The mattresses were extremely uncomfortable, making it difficult to rest properly. Breakfast was also super disappointing, both in terms of quality and variety, to the point that we decided to skip it after the first morning.
To make matters worse, there was no hot water for the final 24 hours of our stay. Although the staff promised a refund for the last night because of this inconvenience, it was never provided. Overall, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for accommodation.
Przestronny, choć dość stary pokój, smaczne śniadanie i dobra lokalizacja.
This hotel is hilariously archaic. The room I stayed has probably never been refurbished (the bedside table still had radio buttons). The service remains Soviet-era. And yet I give it an 8/10 because it is full of character. I wouldn't recommend staying more than one night, but that one night, if you take it in the right spirit, is a real experience. (This is not sarcasm.) Oh, and the top-floor bar has excellent views and is, by the standards of tourist-focused hotels and restaurants in Uzbekistan, incredible inexpensive.
Lage
When the nearby museums are open again, it is a nice location.
A/C not working.
