I got a really good value deal at this hotel. We struggled to find it from the train station, but once we did I couldn't believe how central it is. It's right in the heart of all the action and I feared the noise of Saturday night revelrywould be an issue. It's an odd arrangement to get in, upstairs, downstairs, up in a lift. The guy on reception was very friendly. The room was nice and the air con was very efficient. It was unbelievably quiet. After joining in the revelry to a small extent, we didn't feel ready for breakfast, which I'm regretting having read reviews of how good it is!
I'd definitely stay again!
Staff very friendly, location amazing.
Lift to reception?? Another lift to your room !!. Quite noisy in the evening( granted it is in the middle of the city). Definitely don't go if you need wheelchair access.. the windows look like they haven't been cleaned for years.
Easy location for City Centre.
Staircases not always sign posted. Dirty windows.
The hotel was very central

Hotel was conveniently situated, 3 minutes from Cardiff Central. Despite unusual Reception arrangement, it all worked very well. Staff were efficient courteous & well organised. Bed was good & nice big bedroom. I don't sleep well, but I did at the Royal. Breakfasts were excellent BUT, could do with a more efficient means of keeping the self-serve Full Welsh Breakfast hot> I like hot food. That is a fairly minor irritation. But an investment in better warming equipment would lead to 5 stars. Overall I would recommend this hotel.
The courtesy, helpfullness and freindliness of the staff.
Bedroom could be improved but at this price, its not as issue.
Huge comfy bed. Hot shower with good power. Friendly staff. Great location.
TV did not work well. Floor in bedroom was strange sticky but slippy texture.
I liked the location of the hotel in the city center. Friendly and attentive staff. Delicious breakfast.
The rooms have poor sound insulation, so you can hear the creaking of the floor in the next room, making it difficult to fall asleep. Small windows that cannot be opened for ventilation.
The location and the room size
Nothing not to like
Good location in the middle of town and a short walk from the train station
Nothing wrong with the place
Comfortable bed, easy to locate, good amenities
Maze like layout, stairs to enter
This was our 2nd stay at the Royal and it didn't dissapoint we had one of the superior doubles which we would definitely book again loads of space and a free bottle of wine it was well worth the money the staff were great the breakfast amazing nice and quiet especially in the center of all the nightlife the only issue was the bath that needs the non slip on the bottom of the bath redoing or a non slip mat there if needed as it was very slippery when having a shower and I have knee issues so my husband had to help me in and out of the bath I would still book this room again but this would just make our experience that much better was going to book again on the 6th till the 8th of november this year but sadly you were fully booked
I booked the hotel because it said they had parking. What I didn't know until I had paid for the room, was that the parking was in an NCP which was a few minutes walk away (not ideal with heavy luggage), and, I had to pay £14.95. If the website said I had to pay this for parking, I would have found somewhere else to stay. So I am not happy with this factor.
