Great location in the beautiful Borrowdale area.
Friendly and attentive staff.
Nothing
The food is excellent. This is fine dining. Chef is great!
Our room was hot as it was above the boiler room, but in winter that would be a bonus. Beautiful room, so comfortable.
Really well appointed. Quality furnishings and decor. The views are beautiful and generally a lovely place to be.
The bar draught taps didn’t work. Most of the staff were great. Some could have smiled a bit more.
Great location and staff
Cleaning of rooms late late on our second day and tea coffee. .toilet rolls etc not fully restocked despite request at reception.
No option for a 2 course evening meal
Good restaurant
Poor customer service. This place could be so much better! When we arrived after a long day of hiking there was no one on reception and took ages for staff to check us in as they were all busy with the dinner service. We were sent on our own to our rooms which were very difficult to find in a convoluted space. This hotel is located in beautiful grounds. However, our very expensive room was overlooking the car park.
Furthermore, I was very disappointed by the way a booking error was handled. I accidentally booked the wrong month, but paid again for the correct dates and stayed at the hotel as planned. At checkout, I was told the hotel understood the situation and would support my refund request through Booking.com. However, I was later told that no refund could be offered because the original booking was non-refundable.
Unfortunately, the way this was handled has left me with a very negative impression of the hotel and its customer service.
Beautiful setting, very comfortable and spacious room with a nice little terrace and a fantastic view of the surroundings.
The restaurant only does fixed menus, no a la carte possibilities.
Beautiful hotel in gorgeous setting. Very tastefully decorated and comfy. Food was fabulous!
Beautiful location, super comfortable room with spacious bathroom
Some confusion with restaurant reservation which showed a lack of continuity in the room and restaurant offer
This hotel is in a fabulous location with excellent walking from the doorstep into the Borrowdale valley. The hotel was extremely comfortable with plenty of space to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Our balcony room had an amazing view of Grange village and the surrounding fells. The hotel room was most comfortable with excellent facilities.
There was a super choice for breakfast which was always delicious and the staff were very accommodating when approached for additional items. The evening meals were very elegantly presented with robust flavours to compliment the initial feast for the eyes.
The only criticism we could mention were the balcony chairs and table. The chairs were uncomfortable and the paint finish was rough. While understanding a heavy chair is required to withstand the Lake District weather and not blow away, an alternative would have made our stay more pleasurable.
Die sehr ruhige und schöne Lage.
Leider gibt es als Abendessen nur ein Menue zur Auswahl, was entsprechend teuer ist.
Beautiful location ! Freshly refurbished room. Very elegant and cosy restaurant with amazing views. Delicious food. Few minutes drive to Keswick.
Old windows that we struggled to close.
Some of the staff seemed a bit snobby.
No bread at the buffet. All had to be ordered.
No coffee machines. Had to order and pay for a coffee separately. ( although coffee in itself was lovely)
My Room was great (free upgrade to a ground floor suite); the location, of course, is awesome - so peaceful with stunning scenery.
The food was excellent! Lots of choices for breakfast, with excellent local products. Dinners were exquisitely prepared, and delicious.
I liked everything
The location was good for me. As I was looking for a quiet place.
it is very remote with limited access to public transport.
The room wasn't cleaned. I fact there was no one to clean the room.
I stayed for three days but they didn't send anyone to clean, change the towel or do anything like any other hotels.
It was strange, the hotel gives you a drink voucher instead of cleaning the room. You need to do it yourself.
Beautiful location- views from breakfast were spectacular. Great walks on the doorstep
Stefan on reception was fabulous- he resolved an issue we had with great creativity and elegance. Had our keys waiting for us when he spotted us returning through the car park post walk. He is a credit to the hotel 😃
Some issues with lack of water in the bathroom
