The staff and location were the best part.
Pros:

The location is gorgeous. Set out in a very small village but close enough to Keswick.

Cons:

The bathroom felt dirty. There were cobwebs and a spider on our ceiling. The bottom of the shower door was covered in mould. The bathroom was also very small and the fixtures and fittings felt too big for the space

Disappointing. Not a 4 star hotel. Over priced. Under staffed.

A gem of a hotel in the most peaceful and beautiful spot.

Cons:

One waitress spoilt the atmosphere for us. She must have been having a bad day - grumpy and wearing a ‘jobsworth’ attitude. Such a shame as everything else about our stay was perfect, as were her colleagues.

Ok but wouldn’t stay again
Pros:

Nice property, good staff, great location.

Cons:

It says pet friendly, it is not, dogs are not allowed anywhere in the hotel, not even the bar, I accidentally booked this place thinking I was booking into the Borrowdale, not the Borrowdale gates, at the Borrowdale pets are welcome.

I would return if there was deals on
Pros:

The location is great for walkers and the gardens are stunning to relax if the weather is good

Cons:

The only down side is they only do a set menu.. 2 course £42 or 3 course £58. We were not very hungry but no other eating places close by so it was an expense we didn’t need

Fantastic stay, looking to book again soon
Pros:

The location was fantastic. We did some amazing walks. The dog friendly room was large and led to the garden outside. Restaurant and food lovely. Staff very friendly
