Fantastic stay, looking to book again soon
Pros:

The location was fantastic. We did some amazing walks. The dog friendly room was large and led to the garden outside. Restaurant and food lovely. Staff very friendly

This really felt like a special stay. Thank you.
Pros:

I was delighted to receive a complimentary upgrade when we checked in for our one-night stay at the Borrowdale Gates.

I hadn’t mentioned anything to the receptionist who was incredibly polite and helpful, but me and my partner had just got engaged that morning. The upgrade made our experience extra special.

We have stayed in so many B&B’s around Keswick and this hotel is by far the BEST.

It’s stylish and modern, supremely clean, in a great location, comfortable, and unbelievably quiet! It was perfect.

The breakfast was outstanding too. The morning before we paid £14 each for a breakfast at a local cafe, and the one here was better in almost every way.

Huge thank you to all of the staff, we can’t wait for our next visit.

Cons:

The only downside was that the bar was very expensive.

Beautiful small hotel in a great location in the lakes
Pros:

Beautiful location and gardens
Dog friendly rooms.
Breakfast was very good.
Comfortable, well equipped rooms

Cons:

While they have dog friendly rooms, you can’t take dogs to the bar or restaurant- meaning you need to eat out at one of the local dog friendly pubs rather than the restaurant in the hotel.

Cosy room, lovely location and friendly staff
Pros:

The location of the hotel was great! Close to the lake and just a couple minutes drive in the car from the town centre which is exactly what we wanted. The room was very cosy with a lovely modern bathroom.

Cons:

The only downside about the hotel is that the walls must be very thin, we could hear people having conversations in the rooms either side of us, any sound/noise seemed to carry throughout your room.

Happiness!
Pros:

This is our second time at Borrowdale Gates as it is located in a very gorgeous location.

Do take care to select a room with a view of the fields as we were originally allocated a room overlooking the road & refuse bin. We requested a different room and paid for the upgrade.

Dinner was superb, the hotel staff did a great job decorating the table as a birthday surprise for a family member.

Breakfast was good, we had a good view of the garden and saw a few rabbits hopping around, woodpeckers and many local birds in the garden.

The nearby walks were so lovely, the hills, fields and many sheep. Great place to recharge and enjoy nature. x

Pros:

Great location, quiet and scenic. Hotel small enough for personal service, good rooms well decorated and comfortable, easy parking.

Cons:

Very unhelpful manager, refused to let me reserve a specific table on my wife’s birthday (despite this being no
problem in past years under the old management). She told me that it was an unreasonable request! Also told me that ‘your food will taste the same whichever table you sit at’ . The most annoying thing was that there were three tables obviously being kept for certain guests.
There was no room cleaning during our stay. At breakfast I saw four guests leaving reception with two toilet rolls each. Obviously their rooms were not serviced either!
The breakfast and dinner on the first day were very poor, fortunately much better next day, (different chef?)
This is not a cheap hotel to stay at. In the past it maintained a high standard, otherwise we would not have returned. Unfortunately the standard of service was quite inadequate on this occasion.

Loved the room decor,bathroom,comfortable bed,amazing view, good access for our dog,lovely fresh breakfast,lots of choice and suitable for gluten free.

Cons:

The bathroom floor stayed very wet for the entire time we were there after taking showers on the evening.
