Pros:

Lovely hotel with beautiful rooms
Pros:

The room was decorated beautifully, the bar and lounge areas were also stylish

Cons:

There wasn’t any atmosphere in the bar area and even before last orders (10.30pm), we felt a bit awkward as if the staff were trying to close up and wanted us to leave

Picturesc, peaceful, beautiful food and scenery! Perfect for a relaxing break away from noise!
Pros:

Everything was first class

Cons:

Loved everything, the only thing I needed was air con, but that was purely down to the fact it was the hottest night of the year and was super humid. So, I can see why it's not a necessity given the lack of year round heat in the UK

Absolute gem of a place , couldn’t fault it . So worth every penny

The hotel was exceptional . The staff couldn’t do more for you !
The food was incredible , whoever the chef is needs a raise!!

I have never stayed in a more beautiful hotel, and the setting is so peaceful

I would return again and again!

Very enjoyable.
Pros:

Having stayed at this hotel many times over 20yrs I already knew the standard would be good.

Cons:

At one time children under 16 were not allowed in the restaurant after 6pm so that other diners could have a quiet and relaxing evening meal. However it was half term and so perhaps it was to be expected.

Cons:

very expensive for the meals and breakfast. We paid £50 each for 2 course and we were still hungry afterwards. Drinks very expensive and not much atmosphere

Gorgeous hotel and will return
Pros:

The location is picturesque, staff friendly and clearly happy to be a part of Borrowdale Gates. Sandra is a huge asset on reception. The restaurant looked lovely and the food quality both at dinner and breakfast was faultless. Our room was fabulous with views we will return for.

Cons:

Our fabulous bathroom was let down by lack of hot water… the system doesn’t cope with peak shower times… we had a gorgeous bath but unable to use after our long mountain walk as no hot water… I was devastated!
Great option to service own rooms but surely enough toilet roll could be provided without having to go to reception to request it.
A more luxurious pillow would have been lovely
