Nothing, happy with everything
Everything about this hotel was fantastic. The location is breathtaking, quiet and yet only short distance from Keswick. The staff are excellent and the food is absolutely 5 star. Cannot recommend highly enough and value for money that I have never experienced before.
Zero to dislike.
The area is breathtaking and the staff is magnificent! Hazel, who waited on me for breakfast every morning was one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. That woman is a national treasure and should be protected at all costs! The property has clearly been recently renovated and is just beautiful. I couldn’t be more pleased with my first stay in the Lake District!
It’s not close to anything besides nature so be prepared to drive or eat at the hotel if you need anything quick.
Fantastic welcome and service from Stefan at the front desk. He is a great asset to our experience. Beautiful views, great food, spacious room with balcony. Stunning gardens. We had a fabulous stay.
Balconies should have more privacy. Also the entry to the hotel could have more ambience. And more choices of tea in the room (mint, chamomile etc.).
Amazing property set in an outstanding location, start where attentive and friendly.
The food was exception - complements to the chef
Could have been cleaner
Breakfast was beautifully cooked and presented. Great choice. Views at breakfast were stunning. Staff were incredibly helpful.
Some confusion with booking.com - I had booked breakfast with the booking and also upgraded my room. when I got to the hotel, breakfast had not bee included and we had to pay for this separately. This was disappointing and embarrassing for both the hotel and us.
The location
Suite was tired smelt of damp food wasn’t great staff eager to point out class at 10 pm
Very nice and well organised. It is a fine dining restaurant.
I didnt realise it was fine dining and we hiked in so there was not really an alternativr for us to choose from. It is amazing in the right circumstances, just that we didnt realize and felt underdressed and more of a bother.
The area where it is is great and it was very good staying there,,
The hotel has a great location. It’s clean and recently refurbished. The dinner restaurant is really nice with a touch of fine cuisine. Very good choice of hiking trails around, though many have steep descents, so poles are nice to have.
We were not allowed to have lunch at the hotel after checkout.
Unfortunately, not much to like. The bed was comfortable. Nice location.
The room wasn’t properly cleaned when we checked in! Besides the furniture being dusty - which is something I could have ignored - the bathroom was dirty. There were stains on the toilet seat! Bathroom floor seemed like it hadn’t been cleaned in quite some time. It was dirty and there were small hairs around.
Breakfast was probably one of the worst we’ve experienced in a long time. The buffet selection was poor and the cooked breakfast was just not tasty. The bacon was thick and rubbery. Sausage rubbery as well. Even the scrambled eggs were rather watery.
Overall, very disappointed with our experience. Definitely not value for money.
Very clean and modern decor. Comfortable furniture and well sized rooms. Friendly staff
No fridge in the hotel room
Location, scenery around, tasteful decor, amazing food!
Need to have fan in window to let air in without bugs. Airless room.
The location and views were wonderful. Staff were attentive, cheerful and engaging. Food was exceptionally good and the catering staff went above and beyond to cater for a vegan in our group - separate vegan menu with multiple options was provided and the items updated on a regular basis - "the best cauliflower steak she has ever had".
We were impressed the sustainability vouchers which gave a cash voucher (for use in the hotel) if you choose not to have your room cleaned - £5 per day.
There was little to dislike, however, there were housekeeping errors which needed addressing. Once they were pointed out, the situation was generally rectified.
Its location is fabulous.
Rooms have great decor.
Restaurant is fabulous.
Great views.
The room was a bit dusty.
The sink and shower wastes need cleaning.
Attention to detail missing in areas of hotel and service.
One member of staff at breakfast could be heard complaining about working there.
