Monteverde Lodge

beautifully situated in Santa Elena. Entrance is in a busy area but the property is tucked into a dreamy rainforest with trails and beautiful outdoor features. Simple, elegant, meticulously maintained. Everyone was so gracious and welcoming! We LOVED our stay!

This hotel has a very classy look, beautiful architecture, extremely comfortable bed and sheets. The exterior gardens are walking trails are incredibly beautiful, providing a tranquil setting. However, they had a real problem with bugs. We found numerous cockroaches in our room, had to switch to an upper level room, which had far less bug issues, but they leave the back door to the garden wide open at night so many bugs fly or crawl in and by morning the lobby floor had bugs of all sorts all over it.

Loud dripping noises inside the wall every time the water was turned on. Inexplicable and loud tapping noises outside front door every time we tried to sleep. Screaming children running up and down the hallways and crying babies all hours of the night. Very thin doors…no thought given to soundproofing rooms

Beautiful rooms. Nice view. Great property. Close to town.

This property boasts “sustainability” as an excuse to offer limited amenities and save on their electric bill. Maids turn the AC off each time you leave the room so you come back to a hot room every time and there are no tvs or refrigerators in the rooms.

I had better expectation of this property. But staff was good and helpful .

Staying at the Monteverde Lodge was one of the highlights of our CR trip. The setting with the jungle/window outside the property was tranquil. The food is amazing! Everything was presented beautifully. They set us up on several awesome tours with Rafael and we saw lots of wildlife we would never see on our own. The gardens and trails are gorgeous. We even saw a pack of capuchin monkeys climbing over the roof when we left. The staff did everything possible to ensure an excellent stay.

The property was nice but lacking as there is nowhere to store you clothes other than a small area to hang things in bathroom. The problem with that is your clothes are always wet. Don’t make sense to put it in the bathroom. There were no draws or television. Also people should know there are many steps to get to your room or front desk/restaurant area.

Beautiful location. Wonderful staff. Everyone is helpful and friendly. So close to many things to see and do. Make some time to walk the trails around the lodge. We also loved the San Lucas Treetop Dining!!

This Lodge is in a beautiful location. The sunset view from our room was breathtaking. The staff was beyond helpful and very friendly. The rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and very clean. We would definitely return! We didn't have a vehicle, but most of the tours we booked picked us up here with no problem. We even booked some tours right through the hotel, which was very convenient. We walked to a nearby grocery store and strip mall for evening meals. Just wonderful all around!

Beautiful serene property with comfortable rooms, excellent meals and friendly staff. The only reason I rated good versus excellent was due to occasional septic smells in the first floor bathroom and wait staff making a few order errors in the restaurant We enjoyed the sounds of the birds and brook outside of our room through open patio doors as the small deck did not accommodate furniture, and the massage I booked was excellent. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel with the suggestion to book a room on the second floor.

Beautiful property. The staff were all very nice and accommodating, the pool was great, and warm. Our room was small but we were rarely in it, comfortable bed and linens. The lobby, bar and restaurant were spacious and had stunning views.

Nice but way overpriced hotel. No elevator, no TV (we rarely would use). No reading light by bed, though general lighting OK. Very noisy room due to poor sound insulation. Ear plugs provided, no slippers. Nice brook running right outside patio door was audible at night. Wonderful walking trails around property in the middle of a forest. Breakfast was ordered off a fixed menu, not a buffet. Very small portions. Comfortable mattress. Road from La Fortuna was just awful.
