Great hotel right next to the greatest tiki bar!

Pros:

The biggest advantages of this hotel are its location and, for Los Angeles, the reasonable price - or I thought so. Now I realized that the room rates dropped almost 50 %! I paid almost 650 Euros, now tooms are available for the same time for much less... The $10 overnight parking fee also seemed fair.

However, our overall experience was disappointing.

We arrived about 50 minutes before the official check-in time, and although our room was already ready, we were asked to pay an additional $10 early check-in fee. I understand that policies exist, but charging for less than an hour when the room is available felt unnecessary and not very welcoming.
The property is also clearly showing its age. While the swimming pool was open, the spa/hot tub was closed and, judging by its condition, it looked like it had been out of service for quite some time.
Another disappointment was the "breakfast." It consisted of a few granola bars, two types of juice, and coffee. Calling this breakfast is, in my opinion, quite misleading and does not meet the expectations most travelers would have.
Overall, the hotel is acceptable if you are mainly looking for an affordable place to sleep in a convenient location. However, don't expect the amenities or breakfast to match what is advertised or what you would normally associate with a hotel stay.

We have stayed at Mikado many times over.20+ years. The rooms were clean and fresh. Breakfast was included. Parking was free. All the facilities worked. Not any more. It's been a steady decline except for the price. Sadly, we won't be coming back.8
