Good location, good price but the hot water incident soured our stay.

Cons:

Our stay was tarnished by the absence of hot water to the room. There was a power outage earlier in the day which was blamed for the hot water failure however the staff did not check to see if the hot water had come back on before they allowed guests to check in. Once we were checked in they would not refund our room to allow us to stay elsewhere. The staff on duty could not offer any information about when it might or might not be repaired. It did not come back on until 7am the following day. The staff were very defensive and would not accept liability. When we asked for a refund we were told “you had water”. Well, yes, we had water but it was cold. We did receive a partial refund on the first night but this was inadequate in our opinion.

Quick stop over in St. Helens.
Pros:

Reception staff are great. The evening meal at the restaurant was brilliant, possibly the nicest fish, chips and salad that I have had in over twelve months. The dessert was nice too! The whole package was good value for money.
