Friendly staff, nice room with a beautiful view. Good location right in town. The room would have been even better had the bed faced the window and the view or if there were comfortable chairs to sit on either on the deck or in the room. In that respect it was somewhat limited, especially on a rainy day. Also, without a screen on the door to the deck the room got pretty stuffy at night.
Loved Duffin Cove! Especially the very private balcony overlooking the ocean. Beautiful. Also loved the town location with access to all the shops and restaurants. Super comfy bed and beautiful bathroom too!
The staff were amazing. The view of the room is amazing. Exactly as they show on the photos. The hotel’s location is super good and close to everything. Staff allowed us to stay a bit later for checkout, which was very sweet.
Great view. Nice touch with the pet friendly treats
Great view, very attentive staff, walkable to anywhere in Tofino. Overall a great stay.
Beautiful property. Our room has direct water view. The property has been recently renovated with first class linens and furniture. Landscaping was beautiful. Really nice staff.
It was an amazing stay, the view across the bay was stunning.
Lovely hotel, stunning views and great staff! Worth the price. Only fault would be noisy if staying on a ground floor room due to loud floorboards above!
Really beautiful view from the room, staff were welcoming and gave us a treat as it was our honeymoon which was really lovely. Small things but it wasn't accessible with bags all all you had to go up and down multiple flights of stairs and there wasn't any laundry service, the one in town being rated as appalling.
Great room that was clean and comfy. The bed was cozy and the bathroom was clean and large. Had a small fridge in room (no freezer) and a coffee machine where you could get extra pods at the front desk.
For ice you ask the front desk or go to a liquor store up the street. My only meh was that it was very hot and humid and there is no AC or dehumidifier (there is one but it heats the room). You need to open the sliding door and hope the curtain keeps the mosquitoes out (we ended up having to light a citronella candle since the mosquitoes still came and ate my legs)
Right downtown in the heart of things, while the rooms face directly to the cove/sea offering full privacy....the best of both worlds.
Excellent location. Room patio veiws are amazing
Good service and stay
After being a little surprised by a recent review, I thought I’d make my 493rd contribution as fair and helpful as possible. I have no connection to Duffin Cove—or even to Canada—but I do like to be balanced.
First, Duffin Cove offers beautiful views over the bay. The accommodation is exactly as described: while the rooms are compact, I’d call them snug, with the bonus of a generous balcony. Our bathroom was spacious and well-appointed. There are no on-site facilities, but this is made clear in the listing. In reality, everything you could need is only a short walk away, and a few nights tucked up at Duffin Cove feels almost magical.
Having stayed everywhere from luxury hotels to budget B&Bs—many of which I can barely remember—Duffin Cove will remain firmly in my memory. My advice: read the description carefully. If what you see appeals, you’ll love it here. If you’re looking for a coffee shop, spa, or other extras on-site, this isn’t the place.
The activities nearby are outstanding. In one afternoon we saw six bears, a grey whale, seals, sea otters, and even an eagle.
And as for the gravel car park—it fits perfectly with the character and natural feel of Tofino.
Beds are very small in the two double bed room and views of ocean limited
Our unit could only see from the balcony
Convenient area in Tofino, great to walk to local restaurants and shops!
We loved staying at Duffin Cove. Our room had the most incredible view and huge deck to sit out and enjoy it. The room was lovely and the location was within walking distance to anything we wanted to see in Tofino. I can’t recommend it more.
I liked the location.
Beautiful property - the views can not be beat. Staff were great and location is walking distance to everything Try to get room on top floor as the sound really carries- we could hear walking from the people above us. There are 2 single family A frame cottages for rent as well and are situated between the hotel rooms and the water so all the balconies face them and the last 2 nights we were there they were rented for a family reunion so lots of visitors coming by throughout day and eve so took away some of the quietude but not sure how often that occurs as the first 3 nights it was just a single familiy in each no extra visitors so much quieter.
PRO: Great view, short walk to town, modern decor, good bed, good shower. CONS: No facilities or services, small deep gravel parking lot, long breezeway catwalks and outside staircases, small rooms, sticky doors, no desk or table, no microwave, no space around bath sink for toileteries, paper thin walls and ceilings, no A/C but next to sea, so not really needed, barrels for night tables, designed for looks rather than practicality. Beware of swag lamps next to bed. Not for seniors or persons with mobility issues. More for the younger back packing crowd. Too rustic for our taste. Would never stay there again.
