Jyoti Mahal is the only hotel I want to stay in when in New Delhi
Pros:

Where to begin: I had tears in my eyes on my last day. All the staff and the hotel made me feel so at home, I didn’t want to leave. So many wonderful people to thank: Gulshed, Parveen and Mahi, Bala, Sandeep and Ranju. 24 hours reception is such a treat when you arrive - as I did - around 4am. A smile awaits you. Your luggage is taken care of. Beautiful authentic decor and the loveliest room keys. Bottled water in the room. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom so charming and spacious. Everything in good working order. The breakfast is easily the best I ever had anywhere. I wasn’t interested in continental, but that’s there if one wanted. Potatoe curry, chickpeas, omelettes, filled breads, the most delicious yogurt. Masala chai and a very good coffee machine. I loved the decor, I hope it’s never ever going to be changed ! Staff very friendly and helpful, just charming. A jewel is also the fantastic roof terrace where one can chill, enjoy drinks, delicious food and just feel relaxed and at home. What isn’t on the menu you just ask for and there is a high chance you will be served exactly that. Amazing. Just what I needed after exploring Old Delhi, New Delhi, Agra… This was my first visit to India and because of the Jyoti Mahal and its staff it formed my view of Delhi and the people. Also many jolly places to discover in the immediate neighbourhood: Main bazaar with fabulous food places, shops for decor, shoes, fabrics, the Metro, ATMs and lots more. I was very lucky to meet the two owner brothers. Rightfully proud of their jewel and taking a real interest in their guests and staff. I was shown one of the rooms they were currently restoring, painter at work hand-painting the splendid motives on the ceiling. The bathroom walls set with beautiful mosaic stones. What a place and also not a surprise to casually meet other guests at breakfast or in the roof terrace who have been coming to this hotel for more than a decade.

Overpriced

Cleaner, roof top bar and front desk lady were well trained.

Cons:

It’s 2 star hotel and overpriced. All pictures you find at the website look good but don’t reflect reality. We stayed for 4 nights. And each time we had to ask to get amenities ; shampoo, toilet papers, soap, bottles of waters, bags of coffees. They don’t clean up rooms each days, you should ask them. We had been allocated a room faces front street and a room behind. It was impossible to sleep even with ear pins from the street, so we asked to change room but they didn’t agreed. Less hospitality and overpriced. Definitely no coming again.

Was close to CP which was helpful.

Cons:

They did not give me the room i paid for. When i approached the front desk and asked to be switched to the room type i chose, i was told "all rooms are the same price" despite not being given the specific room type I had reserved. The room i was given was quite dirty as well as the hot water did not work and they were unable to fix it for the length of my stay.

Very beautiful hotel in the heart of Delhi
Pros:

Wonderful building with very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are very beautiful, best shower in India :-) . We very much enjoyed the rooftop restaurant that offers great and friendly service and some very good food. The hotel is a short walk away from the metrostation where you can easily find a motorcycle rikshaw or a taxi.

Cons:

Due to the structure of the building, it can get very loud also in the rooms, where all noise from the reception can be heard. It might be an idea to ask guests to respect calm after 10 pm.

front of house staff rude, I was caught in a payment scam with booking.com and the hotel, paid excess of 300euro, no one took responsibility, mosquitos in room, no hot water, didn't clean room, TERRIBLE
