Important information:

From 1st January 2023, a tourist tax of RM 10 per room per night is applied to all foreign guests. This tax is not included in the room rate and must be paid upon check-in. Guests with a valid Malaysian Identity Card or valid permanent residents MY PR Card are exempted. Please note that hotel policy requires Muslim couples checking in to produce a marriage certificate upon arrival at the hotel. Kindly contact the hotel's front desk for further information.

Pros:

Central spot within walking distance of street food, tourist sites, and bus stops.
Parking just in front of the hotel (limited on-site spaces ) which is very convenient.

Cons:

Old fixtures with poor/low water pressure.

Pros:

Staff were friendly, location is very convenient (close to e.g. The Blue Mansion), nice that it's a little isolated from Chulia Street itself since that can get noisier at night.

Cons:

Couldn't get an early check-in (but that's fine since it's not guaranteed), common bathroom was very small so hard to change in before I checked in. Bathroom for Petite Double Room was smaller than expected (basically the showerhead is right on top of the toilet + sink, so everything will get wet). Also wasn't clear that a RM100 deposit was required until shortly before checking in. All reasonable for the price but just be prepared that it's a 3-star hotel at the end of the day.

Good location, friendly staff
Pros:

It was set back from the street so it was quiet at night. The bed was comfortable and the ac worked very well. The location was about a 15 min walk to Armenia street and 25 to chew jetty. Lots of restaurants and food stalls nearby the hotel. It also near many bars but could not hear them from hotel.

Cons:

The bathroom is a bit small and all of the light switches are by the door which means going to door to turn in bathroom light.

Great stay!
Pros:

We had a wonderful stay at Chulia Heritage Hotel in Penang and are truly grateful for the kindness and hospitality of the staff. Every team member we encountered was warm, helpful, and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our visit.

The location is excellent—perfectly situated for exploring Penang’s historic streets, local food spots, and nearby attractions, all within easy walking distance. It made our trip so convenient and enjoyable.

The hotel was also exceptionally clean and well maintained. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and very well cared for, which made our stay especially relaxing.

Thank you to everyone at Chulia Heritage Hotel for making our visit such a pleasant experience. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Penang.

Buena ubicación
Pros:

Buena ubicación, habitaciones no muy grandes pero estaban limpias.

Cons:

Llegamos a las 7 a.m después de un viaje nocturno en autobús y pese a tener la habitación lista desde bien temprano no nos dejaron entrar antes… la chica fue bastante seca y mostró indiferencia frente al no rotundo de entrar antes a la habitación.
