We made a pit stop before heading to Yakushima. The location was ideal — very close to the harbor, yet also near the city center. Great value for money, and the service was fabulous.
There is not much to complaint, considering the price.

Sehr schönes Frühstück, klein aber fein, man kann aus drei Varianten wählen, ich empfehle die lokale.
Feste Zeiten angeben passt immer schlecht im Urlaub
The property is close to the port (some minutes of walking), allowing you to choose if you want to go to the harbor with Ferries for Sakurajima (left side from the hotel) Tanegashima and Yakushima (right side from the hotel once going to the harbor).
This has been immensely helpful as I couldn’t book any ferry beforehand, and needed to get an early place by waking up early and asking at the counter.
After leaving my luggage I could also go straight away to the aquarium, which was a big plus, and there were some vegan places nearby.
As for the staff, which had kindly replied to my messages asking for information on ferry times and providing the websites (sadly not updated at the time), this was my third experience with very kind, polite, patient and helpful staff: the first day I realized that I might end up better having the luggage on hold at the hotel when I go to Yakushima, and the person that helped me with that information (her name started with K., I believe it was Kawaguchi but I’m afraid I misremember it and I’m very sorry for it) politely explained everything and how the system would work, how the information and luggage is kept and that we could do that either the day before or even at 5am (confirmed also by another staff member) the same day of my checkout.
On the second day I realized I would feel really sad being unable to go to Tanegashima, and asked for more information to the staff member that was working that morning along another woman. As he said he needed to look for info the woman took over and checked, in a very very time consuming process, how to book the very scarce taxis, what times I would have to be present at which location, and booked them directly on my behalf and provided the information on a sheet of paper for my knowledge, along printing times.
I actually don’t think there’s much to dislike about the property except maybe that the roof weren’t fully isolated: I could hear very clearly the “neighbors” in the double room, along other people residing in their rooms, but this was not at the level of the Toyo Hotel in Fukuoka where people were unruly, so it’s not that big of an issue. A bit of tightness in the room but also not that big of an issue, though they kindly remind you to not short with open door because the vapor easily gets into the room and can trigger the fire alarm.
What I can tell you as advice on whether to choose the property or not is that you have to consider whether you will focus on ferries or exploring Kagoshima prefecture: just like in Miyazaki you cannot do both easily, because the ferries are convenient but far away from the other side of the city and the transportation (but Kagoshima station can be reached relatively easily with buses or even 25 minutes brisk walking if you don’t have to hurry).
Some ferries will go to other places in the prefecture, and sometimes you have to choose whether to focus on those too, but the longer you travel away the more the risk of not having transportation and means to return to the hotel.
This is just what one that has different plans than the island might experience in the city and prefecture. I could easily reach Sengan-En and other locations with the city view bus, or even just walking to some of them, but choosing this location limits you to a specific part of the city like Miyazaki in my other review, and it’s not in the more lively part of the other station. This is based on your need, so I would recommend to check a map and times of transportation to locations you really want to visit *besides* the islands like Sakurajima, Yakushima and Tanegashima, keeping in mind that there are also ferries going to Ibusuki and other places.
