One of my favourite hotels in Dubai.
Location and sports:
The hotel is close to the airport, and staying here gives you full access to The Aviation Club — a serious advantage. There are plenty of tennis courts, two squash courts, and a padel court (padel is paid, but worth it). Good coaches are available for sparring sessions.
The pool:
Opens at 6:00 AM — three 25-metre lanes for early morning swimming. Almost no hotel in Dubai allows pool access before 8:00 AM, which makes this place genuinely rare for early risers. The pool is also open until 10:00 PM, which is a big plus.
The rooms:
Spacious — at least 45 square metres. Clean, well-automated, very comfortable. For comparison, the Radisson Blu nearby offers rooms that are less than half the size, with a much smaller pool — even though it has more squash courts.
Breakfast — and the secret:
Breakfast itself is nothing special. But here is what you need to know: wherever they make omelettes, you can order avocado toast. It is not on the menu — it is a little secret for those in the know. I did not discover it immediately, but once I did, I order it every time.
The neighbourhood:
The hotel is within walking distance of a pizzeria, Asian cuisine, several Arabic restaurants, and an Irish village with live music and great beer — located right in the hotel courtyard. It makes you feel like you have completely escaped Dubai. Because of this variety, I often book rooms without breakfast and simply choose what I want at the moment.
One small drawback:
There is a conference hall attached to the hotel with events running throughout the day, which can get noisy and crowded. However, there is always a quiet area near reception with comfortable seating, good music — and complimentary Arabic coffee with dates. I love that combination.
In short: for anyone who loves sport and early mornings, this hotel is a mecca.
