We just returned from an incredible trip to Hopkins, Belize.we stayed at jaguar reef and absolutely loved it. The location is perfect. The grounds are beautiful and clean (didn’t see a single bug except for a couple small beetles), the staff overall is incredibly friendly and helpful. We stayed in Orchid and we loved it. It’s large and perfectly positioned in front of the smaller pool which was perfect with our kids. The room needs some TLC as one of the showers leaked constantly and the back toilet leaked as well, the septic system needed work so there was constant gurgling in the sink but it didn’t smell, just loud. The lock also needs to be replaced as it was incredibly difficult to lock/unlock, a couple times I gave up and just went back to the pool. Ultimately we had an amazing time and the staff was very responsive, but for almost $400/night I hope they get those issues worked out. The place was so great, though, that when we go back to Hopkins we will definitely consider staying there again.
When you go, make sure to say hi to Captain Larry, the coconut guy! He’s so friendly and he’ll get you a fresh coconut - definitely a highlight for my kids, and so delicious!
The absolute best part of our stay at Jaguar Reef was Mario. He was our guide on three occasions - he picked us up from the airport, drove us to monkey river and was our guide for Xunantunich. What a treasure he is! On our way from the airport he taught us all about Belize, from exports and agriculture to animals and geography. He was the perfect guide for Xunantunich, he shared his vast knowledge of Mayan history as well as jungle survival knowledge and stories. He loves Belize, loves his Mayan culture and is incredibly knowledgeable and kind. He also kept a great pace for the variety of people (kids to elderly) in our group. Our experience was richer because of Mario and we will be forever grateful.
I am a proud Belizean and I always tell all my American friends that they should go visit Belize, but be prepared that it may not be like Hawaii or Jamaica or someplace like that. But after staying at this amazing location, I have to take it back and tell my friends to go enjoy Belize and expect it to be the most enjoyable vacation they’ll ever have if they stay here. First thing was the service. The staff that greeted us were great… Jazmine, Julio and Elisha were everything you’d want when checking in and learning about the hotel. They took customer service to new heights and made me so proud of my country and our people. KK gave us a tour and she was outstanding. The bar staff was great. The wait staff were outstanding. The young man at the ceviche bar who cut up all the vegetables right in front of us for every ceviche order he made and he made at least 100 while we sat there and had drinks was just a fun way to spend the afternoon. The beachfront view from our hotel room was everything I needed to reset, refresh and just find myself all over again. I can’t say enough good things about this fantastic facility.
This was our first vacation to Belize and the almond Beach resort will be one of the reasons we come back! The resort property was pristine and well manicured! The beaches were beautiful! Everything from the flower gardens to the daybeds to the pools, restaurants bars, and areas to relax made the location perfect for Valentine’s Day vacation getaway! But the staff was what really made this place special! From those they greeted us every day at the front desk… Julio, Priscilla, and Kayla, to the staff that took care of us every day at breakfast and dinner… Leo, Amy, and Andy, as well as Jerry at the Paddle House bar… everyone was just exceptional! They seemed as if they were old friends… Warm, welcoming and wanting us to feel comfortable and at home every step of the way. Two superstars or Greg at the adventure office/gift shop and Lucas at the poolside bar… They learned our names immediately greeted us enthusiastically every time we stopped by and much like the other staff were always warm, welcoming and aiming to meet our every request! They were just spectacular.
Our room was well appointed and beautiful! The Caribbean vibe was immediately relaxing, and allowed us to really enjoy our stay! We went on a bioluminescence boat trip on her last night and it was informative and beautiful. Our boat captain was Alec and I believe the tour guide was Sharika and both were wonderful! It was a perfect way to end our Belize stay! Almond Beach and Hopkins are definitely places we will return to!
It is always a pleasure to be in Belize, and I really enjoyed my stay at Almond Beach Resort last month! From the beginning, I was warmly greeted by Jasmine amd Tarik! Whenever I saw them during my week there, they always asked how I was doing and remembered my name--always a tangible gesture of excellent customer service! As always, Captain Larry was enthusiastic, caring, and willing to assist. I did not go out on the boat with him this time. However, every time I saw him, he would check on me to see how things were going. Grateful he had a couple of days off during my visit, and I missed his positive vibes. When dining at Paddle House, I enjoyed the meals, as well as interacting with the wonderful folks there--especially Queyli, Leo, and Jason. Kayla also had a warm, caring presence, and she checked on me in the mornings regarding how things were going, events for the day, etc. Also, a shout out to Brandon at the pizza area for hia consistent positive attitude too! I would absoltely recommend Almond Beach Resort--lovely acccomodations and fantastic staff all around!
Our first trip to Belize and everyone at Almond Beach made it a great one. The room 50 feet from the beach was great. The Paddlehouse restaurant had great local foods. We made reservations at other places but nothing compared to the Paddlehouse. The wait staff were all top notch. Ceviche at the Big Dock Bar was great too.
Joseph took care of us and checked in on us all week. Very attentive and helpful. Went on a chocolate tour and made chocolate the Mayan way. The tour and our guide, Cippy, were fantastic. Captain Larry kept us smiling and laughing all week.
We want to come back but we may have to split our next trip up to try other Belize Collection Resorts.
Our stay at Almond Beach Resort was amazing! The staff was top notch! A special shout out to Brandon, Larry, Greg, Edgar, Jerry, Priscilla & Brenden!! Our room was absolutely beautiful and we had everything we needed. Take advantage of renting a golf cart and go to the village. Lots of great food and great people to meet.
What set this resort apart was the amazing staff. We ate every meal in the dining room and Nincy, Richard, and Leo took such good care of my sister and me. They were friendly and attentive and had good recommendations for food and activities. The host Joseph made sure we had everything we needed and Alisha the adventure guide helped us book a fun snorkeling trip and golf cart rental to zip into town. I had a beachside bungalow that was beautiful and very private. I would highly recommend the entire experience!
Our family was at resort for my sisters wedding. They did great excellent job accommodating over 30 family members.
Service was 1st class
Julio kept all plans mom track
Kayla was wonderful hostess
Victor, Brandon Anderson and Leo great waiter and bar tender
Captain Larry was awesome
We spent 9 amazing days at Almond Beach in a private cabana on the beach. We were greeted by Priscilla and Julio at the front desk for amazing welcoming drinks. We then were greeted by Kayla from guest services for a resort tour. She also checked in on us every day to see if we needed anything. We had Jerry who was an amazing bartender at Charlies’s pool bar. He always met us with a smile. Our other favorite bartender Victor took care of us at the lobby bar. The staff was all amazing and welcoming including Odalys our house keeper and Theo head of security. The resort is very clean, the food is great!! We felt safe at all times and well taken care of.
The resort is incredibly. Beautiful. Kayla is delightful - always checking on you and greeting you.
Greg arranged the best tours custom made for our time frames. We enjoyed the ATM caves, the monkey river trip with a local guide Jeremy Garbut.
In the evening Rina Bolonowner of mayaway shuttle and tours was a great driver and guide!! He connected us with a wonderful guide who seemed to have super vision- spotting so much wild life!
And Larry is very friendly!
Right from the start, Priscilla and Tyrique at the front desk made us feel totally welcome—they’re so friendly and helpful with everything. We also got to meet Captain Larry, and you can really tell he cares about everyone’s experience; his hospitality is just next-level. As for the adventures, make sure you book a jungle night hike with Mario Chaco. He’s a total pro and found so many cool things in the rainforest that we definitely would’ve missed without him. Our snorkeling trip with Tyrique and Captain Alex was a highlight of our trip; they took us to some stunning spots on the reef and made the whole day a blast. When you have some downtime, definitely grab the free kayaks and head out on the water for a bit—it’s such a chill way to spend an afternoon. If you’re heading to Hopkins, stay here; the people alone make it worth it!
This was our second stay at Jaguar Reef and definitely won’t be our last. Friendly service, great location and the beach is fantastic! In June, while the islands and Placencia had serious sargassum issues, we had very little. Dolphins and manatees right in front of the room! Hopkins village is within walking distance, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Golf cart rental is quick, easy and reasonably priced.
Captain Larry is an absolute GEM!! Lucas at the dock bar will take care of you too. Alfredo (Benny) kept the pools and the hot tub nice and clean. Leo at the Paddle House took great care of us too!
I givs Jaguar Reef a 5 star review because of Captain Larry. He was extremley nice and was always so positive. Captain larry made this vacation welcoming and the best I've ever had.
Kayla was a wonderful host when we first arrived. Capt. Larry has been an incredible staff member during our stay - he is the captain of hospitality😁👍.
Very happy from the night we showed up at the hotel. Front desk people were friendly and helpful.(think her name was Kayla) Ensuring we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Had dinner at the paddle house and food was good. Leo the server was attentive and helpful with the ins and outs of Hopkins. Room was beautiful, spacious & clean. Beachfront view was gorgeous. Grounds were very well kept. Had morning chats with Deon the grounds keeper from our balcony. He's a very nice and professional person. Really nothing bad to say about the stay so far, maybe either then the bed being pretty creeky.Just a wonderful experienced
Our stay here was wonderful! The food and drinks were great and our room was amazing with the ocean just feet away. There were even manatees swimming near the dock on some of the days. All of the staff were always friendly. Priscilla at the front desk was always very helpful with anything that we needed. Captain Larry also always made sure to ask if we needed anything when we saw him. Everything was great and would recommend anyone to stay here, especially if they want to get some good relaxing in.
Excellent place to stay!! Everyone made you feel like family from the moment we arrived to when we left. Don’t think twice about booking here. Manatees, barracudas, and tarpons off the dock for those seeking to view aquatic life.
We stayed at Almond Beach @ Jaguar Reef for our honeymoon in early November, and I can't imagine a better experience. Miss Kayla gave us an incredibly warm welcome, made sure we had everything we needed, and helped make our experience truly special throughout our entire stay. Thank you, Kayla! Plenty of outings were offered, and Elishia and the rest of the team at the concierge desk went well out of their way to help us book and schedule additional excursions with qualified local guides. We'd also like to thank Chris and Shameika for making my first-ever snorkeling trip so fun, beautiful, and memorable. The food on-site was exceptionally good--special thanks to Andy for the great service at Paddle House, and to Greg and everyone else on the Big Dock team for all the wonderful drinks, ceviche, and great conversation! The complimentary bike rentals made it really easy to spend time in the village for even more great food and unforgettable memories. Our room was beautiful and clean, with everything we could've needed. I'm so glad we came here, and we can't wait to come back soon!
This has been an awesome trip for my wife and I. It was our first time to Belize and we are so impressed with all the wonderful people. Staff at the resort, like Captain Larry, the beach captain, are always so kind. He’s always happy to see everyone and so energetic. He’s given great restaurant recommendations and other helpful info. Greg and Elisha in the tours office have also been great. When they weren’t able to offer the tour we wanted (slow season so we didn’t have anyone else interested in going to meet the minimum participants) she reached out to another small tour company who was willing to take us the very next day. Others around the village are also friendly, everyone often waving hi to each other or shouting greetings. The resort is very nice, but not too fancy or pretentious. We ate at several different places (here, other resorts, and in the village) - and everything has been great! The food at the Paddlehouse has always been good and well priced (it’s a little high for some things but it’s very reasonable for a resort option). I hoping to be back in the future.
