Lovely, welcoming hotel. Very approachable receptionist. All staff were very friendly and accomodating. Will definitely recommend and will return. Great walks and scenery on doorstep! Beautiful pub called the white lion Inn 2 min walk away, with very friendly atmosphere. We had delicious hot breakfast at Patterdale Hotel!

Friendly hotel, great location, needs updating
Pros:

After having heard lots of good things about the hotel I finally got the chance to visit.

The location is great, especially for Ullswater. Glenridding is a short walk away. The main car park was full pretty much for my entire stay, so I parked in the car park over the road (there were plenty of spaces and this didn't incur a charge).

Hospitality is on request only. Unfortunately, when I asked for it, my bins weren't emptied as requested.

The WiFi and phone reception (for me at least) was absolutely terrible, although I know this can often be a problem in the Lakes, based on past recommendations.

Breakfast is OK. Evening meals are also possible and there is also a bar in the property. There is a pleasant lounge on the ground floor too. There is entertainment in the bar on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

As mentioned in other reviews, this hotel does need updating. Some ceiling paper needs to be replaced and carpets in the corridors and staircases were old.

A friendly hotel overall.

Pros:

We loved the location of the hotel which is very close to some excellent walks around Ullswater. The decor of the rooms is a bit dated but they were clean. The breakfast was good, but the staff were very quick to remove your plates.
The reason I did not give this five stars was because the noise at night, as it was next to the main road and the dated decor. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay at a very reasonable cost.

Mid hotel
Pros:

Hotel itself was ok, very outdated and the rook very small and needs a lick of paint, the wooden corridors are something from the 80s, reception staff is asked some questions and the lady continued with what she was doing and kept ignoring me.

Mattress on the bed was flimsy and not comfortable at all woke up with back ache.

Breakfast half cooked was OK

Pros of hotel, entertainment of an older gentleman in the bar he was lovely and sang well.

Pros:

I had an enjoyable stay at the 'Patterdale Hotel' as it allowed me to get warm and dry when the conditions outside were atrocious, so bad we all lost TV reception but this was no fault of the hotel. The staff were pleasant and helpful throughout. The hotel was completely full over the weekend and parking was difficult, I used the one across the road without issues. In general the décor and furnishings are dated but still functional, don't expect a Premier Inn. The entertainment in the bar on Saturday night seemed to drive everyone away so I suspect that it may soon change. I only ate breakfast at the hotel (perfectly adequate if again a bit dated) so can't comment on the rest of the menu. Note that no dogs are allowed inside at all, an unusual policy for this location.

Decent, No-nonsense Hotel
Pros:

Standard hotel, rooms are basic and functional, though in need of refurbishment in some areas. Having said that, there is a nice, lived-in feel about the place, so maybe it doesn't need too much gentrification. Staff are extremely polite, helpful and efficient, much more so than in most more-expensive hotels I have visited.
Dinner was a little bit disappointing, breakfast was better!
Overall, it's a decent place to stay if you are active and looking for somewhere to stay where you won't feel out of place coming in muddy and wet.

Pros:

The staff were Brilliant. We were given what could be described as a standard room when we arrived. When we showed reception picture of room which was booked they changed room to room on picture immediately. It was mentioned that it should not have been advertised as a superior room. Hotel was perfect for a warm , quiet welcome after a day walking. Staff were fantastic.

This is a 2 star hotel, not 3 star as advertised.
Pros:

This hotel is advertised as a 3 star hotel but when you arrive to check in you realise it is a 2 star hotel. I have filed a complaint to hotels.com about misleading trading practices. This hotel is indeed a 2 star. Room is outdated, the bathroom was dirty and there was a smell of urine. The walls are paper thin and there were only 2 sockets available for us. The breakfasts buffet was ok for a 2star hotel, the personnel was friendly and this together with the good location are the only positive things I can say about my stay. I got charged for a 3 star hotel, not worth it.

Lovely area and perfect position for the Coast to Coast Walk. Staff were lovely and helpful. The only negative side to the stay was the evening meal which was very mediocre and certainly not worth £30!
