Please note that the front-desk will be operating only from 6:30 am to 11:00 pm.

Please kindly note that there is a (single gauge) railway track between the hotel and the beach.

A deposit of 50% of the total room charge will be taken 14 days prior to arrival, with the balance due upon check-in.

FESTIVE SEASON STAYS:

A mandatory Christmas Eve dinner supplement of USD 125.00 per person and mandatory New Year's Eve dinner supplement of USD 150.00 per person will be charged separately for the 3rd and 4th Person.

Children up to 3 years will have no additional charge. 50% discount is applicable for children between 4-11 years on the above dinner charges.

The above extra person charges will be invoiced separately, as indicated above.Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation.
Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply.

I enjoyed my time at The Villa very much. It’s as place close to my heart. I have been returning to it for forty years.
Pros:

The architecture, garden, pools, location. The staff were very friendly and the food was good.

Lovely, relaxing place to stay
Pros:

We liked the surroundings the wildlife, the pools, the younger staff were amazing very attentive, the room was lovely the bed very comfortable

Cons:

The hotel it self was very expensive. The food and drink were very expensive and we would not pay that sort of money in England. We went to restaurants in the area which was a third cheaper than here. Too expensive for us to eat here more than 1 night, food was just the same as other restaurants in the area for less money.
We did have breakfast included in the price which was lovely however I asked for some orange juice which I had every morning, however one morning and was told by the member of staff that it was only the juices on display. The juice in display was blackcurrant juice and I don’t drink that because it has to much sugar in it. Quite disappointing that as a top hotel he couldn’t be bothered to get some juice.
Also a few minor points
Water left in the kettle and coffee pots not cleaned
A swarm of flies on the balcony every day

lovely hotel with great accommodations. loved the train that sped by during the day
Pros:

This hotel was beautiful, the staff were so friendly and our room was gorgeous.

Cons:

Shame that the sea was so rough and the beach not swimmable just outside but there was an area for swimming just up the beach - 10 minute walk.

Schöne, friedliche Lage (wenn man sich nicht durch die gelegentliche Eisenbahn gestört fühlt), sehr sauberer Strand, stilvolle Architektur, aufmerksames, freundliches Personal, sehr gutes Essen - was will man mehr!

Einzig die Gemäldeauswahl ist stilistisch teils arg unstimmig gegenüber dem ansonsten harmonischen interior design

Fabulous relax
Pros:

Beautifully styled property, very clean, immaculately kept gardens and pool. Great place for a relax, comfortable bed and room. Lots of lovely places to sit, short stroll over the railway line to the beautiful beach. Tuk tuk ride away from restaurants and shops. The hotel food was very good, breakfast was different each day, the buffet was very good but when they did table service on some days it was incredibly slow (my only criticism!) I would recommend this hotel.

Lovely boutique villa set against the Indian Ocean
Pros:

The Villa Bentota is a quiet haven by the side of the Indian Ocean. The villa was designed by the famous Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa. The pool was a real feature for us. 23 metres long and excellent for morning fitness swims. The food was excellent and the staff were extremely attentive.

Nothing not to like.

Pros:

I have been visited Bawa's work for the whole trip. This one is a very clean, nice, different one.
It is not a big hotel that owns lots of facilities, but rather a delicate one with interesting stuffs.
the room is small but very comfortable and clean. enough to use.
recommend the spa, it's much more cheaper than other fancy hotels, and it's good.

If you love trains barreling past the hotel throughout the day you’ll love it
Cons:

No way to lock our room internally at night.
Even though we emailed regarding a gluten free request, it seemed that the kitchen staff either hadn’t been informed or had no clue what that was. Eating options were very limited for me due to this.
Loud neighbouring party on our last night continued on till after midnight.
