Hotel Plaza Playa - Near Playa del Carmen Main Beach

Great place to stay. Not too far from the beach. Clost to shopping center.

It was a great experience. My wife left her shoes and they made every effort to get them to us

Location was great. Bed was comfy. Place was clean. Staff was good. Secure parking was nice.

Worst night of sleep in a long time. First, not sure if this is the case in all rooms--but there was an access door in our room that was secured by a small bolt. If you open this door, you can see straight down to the parking lot. A huge hole in the floor, large enough for a person to fit through. There was a second access door that had a key lock and we heard some type of animal behind that door... birds maybe? Again, probably no barrier between the floor and the parking below, so easy access for people or animals. We literally piled our suitcases next to these doors as an extra barricade.

As if thinking someone might come through the wall wasn't enough--the hallway is extremely loud. We were next to the elevator and could hear each time someone arrived & wheeled their suitcase down the echo-y hall.

Lastly--not that this was the fault of the hotel (although a less loud hall would help)--but at 1 am, after I had finally drifted off and stopped thinking about that access door... then I woke up to someone knocking on doors. At first, it sounded like they were going room to room knocking. But then they started BANGING on a door near ours and yelling. This went on for at least ten minutes. The way the sound travels in the echo-y hallway, it still sounded like they were moving to different doors. I finally woke up my husband certain that they would get to our door eventually. Thankfully, they didn't. But still. WORST night of sleep.

Staff was nice though and it was clean-ish

The best area for those who want to be close to all the excitement and fun but also be able to sleep somewhere quiet at night. This place has a gated parking lot for our rental car which saved a lot of worry, and the hotel is right next to the convenience store for a quick bite. It is not far away from Playa Del Carmen, being no more than a 10-minute walk to 5th Ave / ocean where everything is. The area is well-lit and feels extremely safe, and we would love bring our families here next time. Staff was extremely sweet, speaking English and Spanish alike. The person who was in charge of our stay was new yet the most welcoming and most amazing person imaginable.

I was basically happy with the room ect. I booked this particular hotel because it advertised an elevator. It has an elevator, but it has been out of commission for over a year. I am 72 years old and have a few mobility problems. The staff was accommodating and gave us a room on the second floor, meaning that I would only have to navigate one set of stairs. It was still difficult at times, especially in the heat.

Everything was good, but it was just a little noisy

Cons:- Bed wasn't cleaned or bedsheets were not changed, 1am shouting voice from some customers, water stoped during bath (another person went down and asked front desk, they fixed).

Pros:- frontdesk people nice and friendly with smily face, quick check in, alowed me to park my car inside gated area , offered one more day for less price than online.

We liked easy parking, closeness to town and the beach.

Hôtel à une quinzaine de minutes à pied de la plage. Il y a une épicerie et toutes les commodités à proximité. Par contre, la literie aurait besoin d'un remplacement et l'insonorisation laisse à désirer.

The room was ok. Chain in the toilet had snapped so it didn’t flush. No biggie. Shower leaked water all over the floor. Again, no biggie. The worst part was the noise. My room was across the street from a truck loading facility. Seemed like it was active all night. But over all the hotel was nice and clean. Comfy beds.

I booked an airbnb that gave me directions to this hotel. I was not able to contact the airbnb hosts but the friendly staff at Plaza Playa went above and beyond to find this airbnb. They spent a couple of hours in total helping me. I'm financially struggling at this moment and the best I could do was tip $10 but damn... this hotel and the people were so nice and helpful I will book with them in the future.

When I say "above and beyond" I mean this was some hard work they didn't have to do but they did it and with a smile. Top notch!

Cleaning staff is the best they keep rooms and the bathroom of the room very clean. And they are sooo welcoming and friendly!!! : ).

Requested room w / 2 balconies was told already taken , there 11 days not once was there someone in that room . I know because they put me in room next to it never once was used . And cleaning staff asked me" why didn't I get that room? you have for the last 2 yrs."
Not thanked for returning for the 3rd time or even acknowledged that we have been there before by reception staff . Reception staff has been the same for 3 yrs yet cleaning crew remembers me .

Water pressure is super low if you have long or thick hair it will never rinse , I always bring a big 60 oz cup to rinse hair with
water is almost always always COLD in shower in the morning. Only took 1 hot shower in the morning all others were cold. Wifi only works in hallway or if standing next to entry door to room.

So if you need a place w / AC , clean ,and don't spend much time in room it's great ! It is in walking distance to EVERYTHING food, shopping (Walmart& Mega ) ,beach money exchange , 5ta but I try to stay away from there . Like I said I will return just wish reception was more welcoming. reception Doesn't have to kiss my butt but please be a little friendlier w/out us you don't have a job.

Side note tip
If you want to eat at EL FOGON on the corner and don't want to have to wait because at dinner there is always a wait . There is one to the north of hotel about 4-6 blocks and one to the south also about 4-6 blocks . They are both just as good and busy but rarely a wait and if so no more that 10 min as opposed to an hr on the corner

I have been coming to Playa Playa for the last several stays and I am always happy. Staff is lovely, rooms are very clean, nice beds, oodles of hot water with good pressure, great wifi and strong aircon. It is in a safe area and I am very comfortable walking around as a single female. Tons of great places to eat. It is quiet and nice.

I had the opportunity to stay in Playa del Carmen for 1 more night and I returned to this hotel, and actually it costed me like 650 pesos (approx USD 30), last time I stayed here was 4 years ago and the price per room was double. However, I find very good deals in Booking, I really wanted to book through your webpage but the other companies have cheaper prices, not sure why_ I hope I have the time in the future to book through your own webpage so you do not have to pay any commission to another company. Good hotel, clean, friendly, and I can even park my car inside the premises for more security. Thanks I will definitely return.

Hotel and staff are lovely as always. Beds are comfy. There was a problem with getting hot water in the morning. Other than that, everything is very nice
