The location, friendly staff, cosy room and the food!
Difficulty getting in late at night though the night porter was amazing. They could do with an intercom on the door or giving customers a key for the outside door
Clean, tidy friendly staff and very easy to get to, straight in off the A1.
Nothing, I couldn't fault it.
It was clean and the bed was comfortable.
Paper thin walls. Could hear a two way phone call that someone in the next room was having. Had paid for 2 nights but stayed for 1. Stopped serving food on Sunday at 4:30pm, check in wasn’t until 2 and if you get there any later you’re damned if you prefer an evening meal like myself because you can’t get any food. Had to drive to the nearest garage to get food for the night. The Monday night I waited over an hour for my meal when it was quiet and about 4/5 tables yo wait on, felt there was no need for my food to have taken so long. When mentioned this to staff they went to the kitchen and all of a sudden the food was ready? Had kids running up and down the corridor and shouting on until bout 10pm as there had been a function on and their parents were too drunk to tell them to stop and when mentioned to the staff their response was “ah yes it is half term”. Closest plug socket facility from the bed was at the desk at the other end of the room and only 2 to use. Wasted £80 on a bed that I didn’t stay in for the second night because I could hear the football commentary from the person next doors room.
Breakfast staff very welcoming
Hotel tired in appearance.
long wait to book in.
Attractive stone buildings. Easy parking. Friendly staff. Nice quiet room. Good atmosphere in bar/restaurant. Good breakfast. Good value. Could actually walk to Angel of the North sculpture across fields then via pedestrian crossing on main road,
Room was quite chilly on arrival, but ok when I turned radiator up. No heat in bathroom - radiator was cold and no adjustment possible, as no valve on radiator - didn't report this to staff, as it wasn't really a problem.
Couldn’t fault in any way very welcoming and friendly staff
Everyone was absolutely fantastic all staff that was on duty that night were amazing nothing was too much trouble
Friendly staff
Beautiful chicken parmo
Good guiness
.
A friendly hotel with a handy location for Newcastle, Durham and the coast. Lovely buffet provided for the party we attended.
Traffic noise from the nearby A1.
Breakfast staff were very friendly
Really bumpy car park
The room was nice but small.
There was no plug socket near the mirror for my hairdryer. There was no telephone in the room in case any problems occurred.
Staff and location. Radiator was not working but staff provided space heater which did the job.
Rooms extremely tired and dated.
Great location
Needs rooms updating
Great staff and location
Could do with room updating and general maintenance/upkeep required in room.
