Afternoon tea
Pros:

Went for afternoon tea for 2 ladies 80th birthday celebrations, when we arrived we had a chipped cup, pot of tea very weak with 1 tea bag in pot for 2 people, 7 finger sandwiches for 2 people, hard sausage roll, 2 cheese scones with jam and cream (meant for fruit scones) cakes soggy as if defrosted and left, we had rang up and asked for 2 ladies to have only ham sandwiches, which was eventually brought out, mentioned it all to waiting staff who made more tea and added a tea bag and brought out fruit scones and ham sandwiches, we were disappointed with food as we were celebrating birthdays,

Nice location
Pros:

Nice location(you can see the Angel of the North from the car park), clean room, comfortable bed. There's a bar and restaurant downstairs, and the food was very tasty.

Cons:

There were only a few plugs in the room. Not a big issue as you can unplug the kettle to charge your phone, just an idea to have a couple more in the room.

Friendly staff, great views
Pros:

Lovely place, very friendly staff, great location and view of the angel

Cons:

The bed was really uncomfortable, and it was really hot in our room as the radiator was stuck on during a heatwave (broken valve) and they couldn’t provide any fans. Bit of a shame as it’s a lovely spot otherwise.

A nice hotel, lovely staff!
Pros:

For us, visiting family - the location was everything, I liked free parking and free WiFi.

Cons:

There was an event in the night we stopped, it was quite noisy, as it was hot we needed the window open, Air con or at least a fan in the room would be nice. The floor boards on the landing are very squeaky and doors in adjacent rooms slam loudly.

The hotel was welcoming and the staff, although very busy, we're a pleasure to deal with!
Pros:

The stable block rooms were much bigger and airier than the ones we were originally given. They were also much more accessible than the ones upstairs. The shower was excellent and roomy. The biscuits were much appreciated and the staff were all really friendly and helpful.

Cons:

There was no toilet roll holder in the bathroom, quite inconvenient to have the toilet rolls standing on top of the cistern. Also, there was no shelf in the shower for sponge, soap and shampoo. It would be really helpful to have a grab rail in the shower to steady oneself, as the shower floor can become slippery whilst in use. There was no toilet brush. There was nowhere to place toothbrush, soap, etc as the washbasin was quite small. The mattress was not particularly comfortable but after a late night 18th party it was sufficient. I was quite cold overnight.

Spacious, quiet and comfortable with lovely country walks from the door.
Pros:

Whilst it is probably easier to get here by car from central newcastle there is also a bus to get to the hotel. It is deceptively large with lots of different large reception rooms suitable for different gatherings. The atmosphere is perfect for a those that love a quiet break, with country walks right next to the hotel and the angel of the north itself a 5 minute walk away. The two courtyards were really beautiful, especially the roses and bamboo and gardening style. The rooms were immaculately clean and the shower rooms were exceptionally striking with a really good hot shower. I liked the courtyards because you could smoke out there and as long as you took one of the many little ash buckets supplied by the door and didn't make a mess, the hotel weren't giving you a hard time. (Which is the number one reason why I won't stay in a swathe of hotels when they don't make provisions for me like that, but this one was much more reasonable.) The breakfasts were lovely. The staff were all super nice and helpful and keeping a place like this going must be a lot of work. I would go there again. I thought the best bit was that you could have several separate spaces and nooks and crannies for various meetings. I think it's an ideal place for a seminar. Lovely hotel, great use of a bautiful piece of architecture.
