Excellent position on the edge of Burleigh House grounds and a 10 minute walk from town . Food was good in Millys Bistro staff all very polite and pleasant
Room 7 was a little cramped for a twin bedded room for senior citizens 🤔Hubby is 6 ft tall and fireplace mantelpiece was quite dangerous for him getting out of bed during the night as our age group need to do frequently . Also the shower cubicle in room 7 was very small . Lots of elbows bashing against the shower screen during shower time . Maybe check height of people being allocated this room ?? Sorry to seem to be whinging but room 7 was also noisy with traffic passing
We tried to close the window properly several times but couldn’t fasten it closed and it was draughty . Maybe have a look at the lock on the window . Despite all this we would come back but definitely ask not to be allocated room 7
Very relaxing stay in a comfortable room
Good location for facilities in Stamford.
Clean and well-appointed spacious ‘cosy’ room with all mod cons including wall mounted tv, DAB radio, coffee machine and tea making facilities. Large on-suite bathroom with bath and shower.
Double bed was comfortable however the soft mattress might not be to everyone’s liking. It was perfectly acceptable for our recent two night stay.
Beautiful hotel. Quite grand feeling and in keeping with Stamford’s general style and ambience.
Our room was above a noisy kitchen fan , but the manager, Sergio, was quick to address this and made everything right.
The breakfast was excellent; good quality products and lovely selection. We liked that it was cooked fresh and we could choose on the day.
The room was okay. We were switched to a twin room as we'd requested twin beds. Rather strange boho styling (painted beds, odd mix of pictures, etc), mattresses a bit soft for us. However, lovely shampoo, body wash, etc.
We had freshly made scones on arrival which were good.
Generally good, some areas need attention to move it to excellent.
Staffing seemed variable, some shone as excellent, some really needed a better attitude, it was just a job rather than making the guests feel valued. (Especially applies to the restaurant.)
I've stayed at the William Cecil several times but not for 5 years or so, I very much like the face lift throughout the hotel.
The room I was assigned (21) was in the attic and it was a hot sticky day, it was intolerably hot in the room. A large fan was provided but as the lower part of the sliding casement window was permanently fixed shut ( I understand the safety reasons for this) there was no way the fan could draw air from outside! The fan merely circulated the hot air. I spoke to reception who moved me to a smaller ground floor room, this room had opening windows and the supplied fan was able to draw in cooler air. In my opinion unless better arrangements are put in place then room 21 is not suitable for occupation in the warmer months.
We liked almost everything about our stay breakfast was good evening meal and we loved the garden area and there were two guys providing afternoon entertainment guitars and singing which was lovely very relaxing
Not that I didn't like but a little more choice on evening menu would be good
Cold tap span around as wasn’t fixed to sink properly.
Kettle on short lead so when shelf was pulled forward it toppled. Really dangerous when boiled.
Shower so small I struggled to use it effectively, could barely bend to clean myself.
Wedding party in evening, waited for the table service we were promised for a while then just went elsewhere.
Breakfast service was very good.
Everything no problem what so ever
Nothing
Well located. Clean and quirky. The staff were super helpful
The food was not up to the standard we would have hoped big gaps in replenishing the breakfast so only ended up having a piece of bacon, tomato and a mushroom
