The staff were Friendly, breakfast and meal at restaurant was good.
We were allocated room number 28, the room was dirty, grubby and uncleaned. The entire room was dirty, not clean and not suitable for us to stay in.
The carpet was stained and dirty with dead bugs and dead spiders on the skirting boards and under the chairs.
The net curtain was black, the window sill was full of spiders and uncleaned and the window was also full of cobwebs.
The head board was full of dust and the unit where the additional pillows were kept was also full of dust and not cleaned..
We had to move rooms and was moved to room number 18. This room was much better but there was no running hot water on Thursday 23rd July and we were getting ready to go to a Wedding, which this caused us to be late.
I reported the issues to reception, so they are aware of our complaint, they said the hotel was going under renovation of the rooms. Although this did not help us as it gave us a bad experience.
I feel that with the issues we raised warrant me to be reimbursed for the cost of the stay.
I have photos of the room and the concerns I have raised.
Many thanks
This is one of the loveliest rooms I have stayed in. The evening meal was nicely presented. Serving staff were helpful and all worked hard. Reception area and bar well presented.
Corridors leading to rooms a total mish mash, old and tired decor. The evening meal took an hour and 10 minutes to get to us. The hotel was not at full capacity. Breakfast was inedible on the whole. First receptionist was rude, second very pleasant. I would say they were under staffed. Probably wouldn't choose to stay there again.
The whole experience from arrival to departure was highly enjoyable. The spa was excellent and nothing was a problem. Dinner was superb and all staff attentive. The room was also well appointed and lavish in decor and style. Breakfast was exceptional and offered to cater for every need. Checkout was smoothly done and reception staff very polite and considerate.

Surroundings
Nice hotel, a little tired in places but overall good value for money.
Cleaning staff shouting at the top of their voices in the hallways waking us up! Also could not get hold of the reception team despite multiple calls during the week prior.
We had a lovely, spacious room overlooking the courtyard.
The staff - exceptional considering how few there were during busy periods.
The pool and facilities.
Despite the critique, we had an enjoyable stay and would return.
Location - on a very busy road, but with a rear room, it was an enjoyable few days.
The downside would be that there just aren't enough staff in duty at any time. The staff appear to be rushed off their feet and under pressure, whether it be at breakfast time or in the bar/lounge in the evening. In fairness to the staff, they were brilliant
- always friendly and courteous and helpful - all while being run ragged.
The hotel is in need of external maintenance and upgrading. The courtyard could be spruced up to make it an appealing place to sit. Just the simple addition of ashtrays would negate the abundant dog-ends in the grass.
It appears scruffy at the rear of the building and in need of decoration.
The courtyard was lovely outside and the views were great.
The breakfast was very limited. The bed was uncomfortable and it was very echoey in the room. It just didn’t feel inviting.
Staff were all welcoming and helpful
Nothing to dislike
Our room 49 was so lovely clean and the decor was beautiful. It had everything you needed and was so comfortable. Some team. Members couldn't do enough for you and were kind and friendly
Some staff could have been more helpful and smiley. The young blonde girl who helped with breakfast on the Monday morning was so friendly and helpful.. equally the young staff member with short blonde hair in the Normanton bar on Sunday night was so chatty and friendly wen we were watching the football. Reception staff could do with some people skills (and they were the first person you saw when u entered the hotel).
The only improvement in regards of our room is that if you were taller that 5ft 2 in then you wouldn't be able to shower comfortably. Parts if the hotel looked old and shabby and definitely needs some tlc
I've known the hotel most of my
life as originally from worksop. I've been to many occasions there and this time was definitely a poor experience in some areas.
Location
Water slow drain from sink and bath
. Bed had springs that were uncomfortable. Definitely not a premier inn quality.bed.
Minimum coffee and condiments. Tired decor. Expensive breakfast.
Great location very spacious
The staff in the evening were great and very accommodating.
We were in a room which faced the road. There was no air conditioning or fan in the room so the windows had to be open overnight. This meant that I was woken by traffic noise and couldn't get back to sleep because of cars and lorries whizzing past at 60mph, felt like I was trying to sleep out in the middle of a motorway. At 4.30am it was so bad I requested another room but was told the hotel was full. They didn't even have earplugs they could give me.
I do have a video with the noise sound on it, but can only load photos unfortunately.
No cooling fans provided were not working - bugs in bed, black mould on bath mat, unhelpful staff, breakfast poor quality
Food was lovely - fairly basic but tasty, and hot! Venue for wedding was beautiful - forest style setup for ceremony was gorgeous and reception room lovely with air conditioning.
Room was advertised as Executive upgrade - room was good size but carpet had ripples, only one power point which made charging phones, using hair dryer etc a bit troublesome (given it was so hot and needed fan
plugged in all the time) and bathroom had lots of mould. Appreciate we were there for wedding so lots of bookings. When we visited our friends rooms they had lovely dark brown floorboards and well appointed, with lots of power points :) so perhaps we just had a room that was on the list for renovation
