Casa Catrina

We had a wonderful enormous second floor room - more like a suite - with a huge bathroom and even larger covered terrace which had a seating area adorned with tropical plants. Breakfasts were wonderful, with a huge glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and typical Oaxacan hot chocolate, along with one of a half dozen egg preparations. The location was excellent for touring, being in walking distance of all the important sites and markets. The housekeeping was excellent, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The only potential drawback was the church across the street which rang its bells at sunrise. We enjoyed the local color of the bells which were clearly being rung by hand, but lighter sleepers might not appreciate it quite as much.

Casa Catrina is a delightful hotel just a few blocks from Santo Domingo. Our room was stunning and very well appointed. The staff was both professional and friendly--there to help. We had the American Breakfast offering with fresh fruit, homemade breakfast rolls, coffee and lots more. I would absolutely stay there again.

Our six day visit to Oaxaca was anchored by a delightful stay at the Casa Catrina. Inocencio and Ana made us feel at home, providing delicious breakfasts, transportation assistance and touristic advice. We stayed in the red room upstairs with a beautiful balcony, spacious room and huge shower/bathroom. Almost everything we wanted to do in town was in walking distance. The perfect hotel for us in Oaxaca!

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Catrina. The staff were attentive and the breakfasts wonderful. Our room was spacious and had the most beautiful piece of art that gave us joy every time we were in the room. Great location. We highly recommend this hotel and plan to stay again.

Casa Catrina is a delight! We had a wonderful time staying here. Ana and her team are so friendly it felt more like staying with a good friend than a hotel. The breakfasts are delicious and the location is ideal for visiting museums, churches, bars and restaurants. The design and decoration are all beautiful and our room was very spacious with a lively terrace. Can’t wait to come back!

Ana and her staff were wonderful to my parents. The service was excellent and the breakfasts were tasty! A staff member even fixed my dad’s cane!

The red suite was one of the loveliest stays we’ve had in Mexico. The room was very spacious with a separate sitting area, a marvelous terrace, and an enormous bathroom. It’s located on the northern edge of the historic center so it’s very quiet, but do expect to hear church bells twice a day for mass. The staff here is friendly and helpful and we would absolutely stay here again!

What a sweet spot with the loveliest staff. We loved the garden terrace off our room where they brought us breakfast (included). The hotel is in a great location just north of Templo San Domingo. We stayed at a few places in Oaxaca City and this was our favorite. Downside: the beds in Mexico can be on the very firm side.

The food, service, staff and room were all excellent. The hotel is also located in the central part of Oaxaca. All the wonderful sea sites to see are located in this historic section.

Great smaller hotel, with excellent breakfast and large rooms. Family style feel with all the staff super helpful. Excellent location walkable to all things in Oaxaca.

Casa Catrina was the perfect hotel for our visit to Oaxaca. They took such good care of our large group. The food and service were excellent. Most impressive was the warm service and attention to detail. Staff answered questions and provided assistance with everything we needed. Great hospitality! The entire staff from the management to the cook, cleaning and wait staff were fantastic. The food was home made. The location of Casa Catrina is in a great location for tourism. Many restaurants, bar and shopping, all walking distance. The streets are safe to walk around at all hours of the night.

Beautiful and traditional property in a perfect location. The best part was the outstanding service from the staff. Everyone was so friendly and made our stay very pleasant. We definitely recommend this place.
