I got good value for what I paid but on site parking is really street side parking. Credit card machine was not working so I had to get cash from an ATM to pay. Owner is willing to assist. What you see in the pics is what you get.
The property was clean, pleasant, the hosts were
Property was just ok
Wonderful hosts very helpful arranged taxi to ferry port. Not far to a really nice beach beside Sandals resort.
Great food at Chef Robbies across from Rodney bay marina about 10 minute stroll.
Would definitely stay again.
Great stay in an area of Rodney Bay that is mainly where the local folk live and only a 10 minute walk to the marina, or 1 minute in a local minibus taxi. Hotel room was clean and comfortable, large bed and bath/shower and great value. Area has bakery and laundry just behind guest house, and only a few minutes walk to a prestine deserted sandy beach with a few bars, mini markets and places to eat. Beach is next to the marina entrance. The locals are very friendly and helpful and will make sure you are ok and safe. Great walk along the coast to Pidgeon Island. This is a place to chill and relax, away from the tourists and resorts.
The room cleanliness and comfort was fine. However, having booked and paid via Hotels.com app on check-in I was advised by the property that the boking had not been paid for and therefore I was asked to pay in local currency and as this was the only way to be able to stay I did so.
The other issue was that the 'maid' looked in through a gap in the curtains in the morning which is inappropriate and an invasion of privacy!
Had an amazing stay. The only thing I would suggest is to have access to phones to at least make local calls.
This place was amazing. The owners treat you like family and welcome you. Close to the beach restaurant and night life. 10 mins away from Castries. Great area
brilliantly close to the action of St Lucia in a great spot
I’m almost hesitant to write this review, as I’m not sure I want the secret to get out, but I just spent 3 great weeks in January at the Hotel Chez Marie Alish in Gros Islet. I’m a budget traveler and this is the place I’ve been looking for in St. Lucia for years; don’t let the low cost make you think you have to sacrifice comfort. The apartment was kept immaculately clean by the housekeeper, and Mr. & Mrs. Louis outstanding hosts, we’ve never felt more welcome.
The self-catering apartments are very well stocked with service for four and all the pots, pans and utensils you could ask for. There is a four-burner stove with oven, microwave, a full-sized refrigerator, cutting board and they restock the kitchen roll as needed.
Our room had a comfortable queen bed and also a single bed, kitchen table and chairs, a desk, ironing board and iron. The wifi is strong and reliable. The outside balcony has a couple chairs and a bistro style table, where we enjoyed our breakfast each morning.
It's about a 10-minute walk to the marina and 15 minutes to the local beach just north of town.
I would recommend this property to other budget-minded travelers who want safe, clean, comfortable accommodations. It would also be ideal for yacht crew wanting a break from the boat or for a place to stay before or after a charter out of the base in the marina.
My stay was very good and I recommend this hotel at 100%... Everything about it was just perfect
Good, clean, good amenities.
I was very impressed with the the hotel and the room which I stayed in. The owners of the hotel was very friendly and welcoming and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. I love the fact that the hotel is literally on the bus route which made it super easy to get to the beach, down town Castries and the shopping malls in Rodney Bay and the daily room service which the hotel provided. Despite not having an onsite restaurant, there were places close by to get food and groceries from, since the room was equipped with a kitchenette to prepare your own meals which was a plus. A wonderful experience.
The hotel was very good. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Mr. Louis was very accommodating and kind to us. The apartment itself was clean and comfortable and perfect for the crew who need a place to crash at night and 'lime' all day. It is located just up the street from the Friday night party and in close proximity to travel everywhere. Great experience.
Not a pretty location right at the hotel... But close to a the bus line and walk to many options.
The host/owner was friendly and more than accommodating. The plus about the location was that it was on the bus route, but the minus about the location was that it was very noisy with trucks and loud vehicles going by all hours of the day and night. Roosters would start crowing at 330 am or whenever they felt like it. The room was adequate for us regarding a place to sleep. We wanted someplace with cooking facilities and this was minimal- providing 2 each of spoons, forks, plates, bowls, etc; which we could work with, but no sharp cutting knives or vegetable peeler, or colander, large sauté pan- things most American cooks need to prepare their meals. Scouring powder would also be helpful to help clean up after using pans. Kleenex tissue is usually found at accommodations but was not. We did appreciate the small outside porch/patio to sit at outside the room and eat at. It was budget priced, so I think if you know what you are getting, you can be happy with it. It is within nice walking distance from Pigeon Island National Park which is a nice place to spend a day. I was happy not to have to rent a car, as public buses and transportation are plentiful from this accommodation. It is worthwhile to spend a day taking a bus into Castries to experience the huge public market of produce and crafts. We intentionally planned our stay in St Lucia to have four to five days at three different locations in the island from north to south.
The location was prefect. I enjoyed mingling with the members of the community and at the same time having easy access to the local transportation. Beach was a good 15 minutes walk away. Fish night is held in the same vinicity so no problem after partying the night away.Nice spot will visit again!
Nice staff, room clean, sometimes insects around, but not a real problem. easy get around from the location of the hotel, short ride with the maxi taxi and 10 min walk to the beach
False advertisement comes to mind, which is not good. Why because the garden, which is located in the front is over grown. The doors do not properly fit, since you can stick your hand underneath and see them (finger tips) on the other side. I previously paid for a deluxe suite, only to be placed in a shoe box, of a room. The manager/owner didn't see a problem with it. Be prepared to see something other than what you would actually see in person. I left this place with the quickness, but not before being bitten on my face while I slept. I also acquired several other mosquitoe bites on my arms. The owner finally decided not to charge me for the first night, but he wanted/demanded his money for the remaining eight nights. I left after spending three nights there. I couldn't take it. Here I am on a beautiful island and I couldn't enjoy it, because my stay at this place was breaking my spirit. The manager/owner had the nerve to ask for the key back, even after I had several days left. Of course I refused and I returned the key, on the day before I was due to check out. I would recommend that Hotels.com send someone to verify if the pictures that a hotel post is truly what they offer, since their name is linked to the deal. Please verify your place of choice, before you get stuck like I did, where I had to spend more money for a better place. The only good thing is that the Gros Islet Police Department is in walking distance, which in itself gives you a sense of security.
