Staff , location, breakfast.
The hotel is a little tired in places but Was built in the 1500"s, we had extreme heat and the rooms do not come air conditioning, but where supplied with vans.. needs a little tlc
Comfortable room, good buffet breakfast. The hotel has an old fashioned historical feel, which we like, and is set in lovely grounds.
Only small niggle was that a comfy chair in the room would have been nice. There was only a dining-type chair at the desk.
The quality of the cooked breakfast was excellent. The first morning however one or two items had not been replenished which was a shame.
Clean, well organised, friendly staff, easy place to find, parking good
Drinks are a bit expensive
We stayed for a wedding and it us a lovely location for this although the gardens need some attention
We booked a superior room and although our room was exceptionally clean, it was not superior. Toiletries were already used no air con, coffee and tea facilities poor.
The gardens could be beautiful with a bit of attention
Breakfast: Over cooked eggs but loved the bacon (even swimming in fat) and delicious sausages. Room clean, bright and cheerful. Bed was fine.
As with the bacon, eggs were ALL saturated in fat, over cooked and hard. A good variety of other cereals etc, Tables should be cleaned after previous persons had eaten. Some tables had solidified , previous days food on surface.
An amazing building with wonderful gardens and a real historical interest. It's like a mirage, as its right in the middle of a built up area. The room was super clean and comfortable, the breakfast was good but a little underwhelming for me as I'm a veggie and there wasn't any oat milk or good veggie alternatives to the bacon/sausage scenario! Lovely staff though and much more interesting than a travel lodge or basic hotel but with similar pricing. Go! It has to be seen to be believed!
Could have been a few more vegetarian options on the food menus but nevertheless the mushroom and halloumi burger i had was really delicious.
Staff grounds food
Fire alarm sounding
The food was absolutely out of this world. Both dinner and lunch were truly incredible, generous, and full of flavour. The room was very comfortable as well. There was no air conditioning, but overall this did not affect my stay too much. I also did not mind the airplane noise as much as I expected.
While some interactions with staff were perfectly fine, the check-in and check-out experience did not feel very welcoming. The person assisting us seemed very process-oriented rather than guest-experience-oriented. There was little personal warmth or interest, such as asking how we were or whether we had enjoyed our stay. Instead, the interaction felt mostly transactional, focused on questions like which room we had booked and whether we needed a VAT receipt.
I also noticed some details that made the front desk feel less professional than expected, such as staff using their phones on the work floor and personal clothing or bags being visible behind the check-in desk. For a 3 or 4-star hotel experience, I would have expected a warmer and more polished service approach.
Comfortable, clean room in a beautiful setting
Some form of air conditioning or a room fan would have been beneficial
