This is the cheapest hotel in Larnaca...people that review forget this. I paid £24 for 1 night for 1 person via a booking platform. You cannot check-in before 14:00 and the swimming pool is empty and under reconstruction. There is an elevator and the place was actually quite busy. The room has a balcony with two chairs and a new AC/Heat unit which I had maxed at 30 degrees, though unfortunately due to lack of insulation (glass sliding door to the balcony and a six inch gap under the bathroom door, the room was very cold. As expected there are no complimentary amenities in the bathroom aside from sink and shower soap. There was a vanity table, 1 bedside table, 1 refrigerator and a wardrobe with blanket and coathangars and a smart TV (though the remote was missing a battery so I didn't use it) The room was spacious enough and the bed was comfortable and the linen clean. Importantly, though the interior was aged and under renovation, everything in the room was clean including the linen and the WiFi worked well. For the price, how can one really complain? Upon check-out you'll also have to wait 5 minutes as they check the rooms. The location is very good and the staff were pleasant enough. For the price, 4/5 is absolutely fair.
I ask hotel two times for quite room and they promised but on the end I get room above bar where people was drinking and very loud behaved till 2 am and I had diving next day which require good sleep, when I pointed this to reception, they just say sorry, no much worth if you got all nights destroyed on your holiday.
Also we ask for hair dryer in reception and they told us they not provide, even in hostel you can get it!
Other night fire alarm because some one smoke in room! No apologies or explanation.
Only one positive was bartender Janusz which make nice atmosphere and good drinks plus gave us a lots of good advice.
The most disgusting hotel I have ever been to. It was filthy, bed bugs dilapidated. This hotel is stuck in the 70’s and probably will stay there. Food was cold and unappealing to look at. While the staff were given other food which was much nicer and theirs was seen by many people staying here. Staff were rude and the girl in reception never even looked up from her phone. The stench from the hotel toilets was vile and made me feel sick just to walk past the top of the stairs to go into them. Saw young couple come in went to their room and back down within 2 mins and left they were disgusted. Do not stay here. I have an ongoing complaint 🤢
Please do not book this hotel. We booked through booking.com and I only read these review afterward. 3am flight in from Larnaca and only wanted to get our heads down for 1 night before moving on to Paphos knowing there was a 24 hour reception for the late flight. Bed literally on the floor, dirt and mould everywhere. Huge gaps in the floor on the balcony and lift made everything not just completely disgusting but so unsafe. Had broken sleep for 2 hours and left at 6am not even wanting to take a shower or brush my teeth in the hideous space they called a bathroom. There is also a hospital opposite where, what we thought were dementia patients, were screaming and wailing with their doors open all night. Wish I took photos but just wanted to be out of there without evidence of how completely horrific this stay was. At £60 I didn’t expect a lot but shame on anyone advertising and taking commission from this hell hole.
Extremely disappointing stay. The room was dirty and had bedbugs. The toilet barely flushed, and the air conditioning worked only occasionally. Breakfast was soggy with very few options. The swimming pool had a plastic sheet at the bottom with bubbles underneath—very unhygienic and uninviting. Would not recommend.
THEY HAVE ALOT OF BED BUGS AND THEY DON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THEM NOR GIVE YOU ANY REFUND!! We had to leave all our clothes behind and they told us they didn't know about the bed bugs. Their beddings were full on those black spots, even the next ones when we asked to chance them. Otherwise you get what you pay for; barely working air conditioner, dirty over all look, mold and bored customers servise.
Fantastisk service:
Good hospitality stay ,friendly staff ,fair price with fast service.
Hotel location is very close to the beach and the neighborhood is quite and safe
Disgusting hotel and crew🤢
Talks badly about the costumers!
We leave the hotel although we payed for 4 nights, dont come near this hotel
This hotel communal areas didnt look terrible for what i saw other than the pool it wasnt like the pictures, the sun loungers wernt the same and looked tired and nasty there was only a few parasols around the pool with poles stuck out of the ground where there was some and the others that were there were either torn or filthy the rooms themselves were dirty, other people's clothes left in room and spare pillow covered in sweat marks and doesnt have all amenities in rooms as listed, we couldn't lock our balcony door and the otherside of the balcony doors felt as if they were going to fall off the track at any point curtains had been damaged fan in the bathroom didn't work and the Internet plug behind the bed was literally hanging by the wire. Also there customer service was very rude and poor.
Booked this hotel for just one night because of an early checkout at another accommodation and close to the airport . Couldn’t believe my eyes . The place is totally dilapidated and filthy . Everywhere you look is disgusting. .Broken furniture . Dirt . Kinda thought someone was going to
pop out with a camera and say we had been pranked . 1 star at best . Reckon you get better accommodation in prison .
Terrible Experience – Avoid This Hotel
Review (ביקורת):
I stayed at San Remo Hotel on May 15, 2025, and it was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I was moved between five different rooms due to serious issues:
One had mold and water damage on the ceiling
Another had ongoing construction and dust on the balcony
One room had workers inside during my check-in
Others lacked basic amenities like toilet paper and a hairdryer
All rooms were old and poorly maintained. The entire check-in process wasted over 90 minutes of my trip. I emailed the hotel and received no response at all.
This hotel does not deserve to operate in a tourist city like Larnaca. Avoid at all costs
Staff outmost condescendent. Very poor English (surprinsingly), ergo difficult to communicate with them. They dont provide invoices. Insects in the room. No maintenance at all. Stinky bathroom only needing a fix which of course not possible to do.
Nice, clean, soft bed. Hot shower Good buffet breakfast. Friendly staff. Excellent location...close to the beach and good restaurants. Taxi to the airport was there in 5 minutes.
You get what you paid for, meaning I didn't expect much.Solo, I'd stay there again
San Remo Hotel was, unfortunately, a disappointment overall. I needed a 24-hour stay in Larnaca and, despite seeing mixed reviews and the “too-good-to-be-true” pricing, I decided to take a risk. While the hotel itself fell short, the staff truly went above and beyond. They were warm, helpful, friendly, and inviting—everything I look for in hospitality staffing.
However, the experience of the hotel itself was mediocre at best. While everything was functional, it was of very low quality and grade. For instance, the heater in my room didn’t work, and breakfast was extremely basic. These shortcomings left me feeling frustrated.
What made the experience even more disappointing was seeing the unrealized potential of this property. Its location, combined with the incredible staff, positions it to be a top-grade hotel. Sadly, it’s being underutilized, operating at a fraction of what it could be if time and investment were dedicated to raising the bar. While the staff made the stay tolerable, the overall experience left much to be desired.
11-12/11/24 Monday night
We three middle aged guys from London arrived on a late WzAr plane from Gatwick at 11. We had missed a (€4 each) bus to the centre so resigned ourselves to the taxi vultures who quoted between 20 and 25 for the 6km drive to this Hotel. We passed the (missed) 425 bus and got to the hotel door well before midnight.
A young Indian medical student checked us in and we went up to room 219 (lift available) to find a medium size room with three single beds there with a long wooden headboard. We had a bought a duty free bottle of spirit and needed a nightcap but there was only one glass in the room, none in the bathroom, so I went downstairs to ask for two more which the receptionist was happy for me to take from the bar opposite. On my return I was told there were only two pillows so down I went again and he said he would drop one more off. Which he did. This is odd as we had booked the room (for three) two weeks beforehand.
It was hot and humid (first rain the day before in five months) but the A/C worked fine and was quiet. We did not test the TV (I did the next day, it is a smart TV with other peoples' Netflix accounts etc...). A hair drier was also present.
A kettle and small fridge was provided but no cups or ice tray. The wardrobe had a few coat hangers, not enough for three) people but we were only there a night.
The neighbours were sitting outside on the balcony chatting, when they came inside they were just as 'loud' as the walls are paper thin. They stopped chatting before we did so were probably more disturbed by us!
The room wifi was very good (90MBps down AND up!) which was useful for updating my last TA reviews from July in Bosnia.
After the nightcaps I slept well albeit the bed sheet was rather heavy and fluffy. In the morning my friend said his lumpy bed (nearest the window) was not comfortable. Our friend had a top mattress like mine so was more comfortable so he (and I) slept well. I found a single proper sheet at the bottom of the bed in the morning which was the only one supplied for all three of us, rather disappointing given our early booking. We noticed a dripping noise at night which turned out to be inside the toilet cistern and we could not stop it.
Breakfast was from 07:30 to 09:30 so on getting up it was evident the sun was on our side and it was very hot on the balcony. As I'm typing this my friend is sitting on one of the two upvc chairs by a table enjoying the morning sun before checkout.
I got to breakfast at 07:40 to find a good selection of hot and cold food including a full English buffet, feta, hams, fruits, cheeses, plus a hot water dispenser with tea bags and Nescafe sachets. A chilled juice dispenser and chilled milk dispenser for cereals was also present along with two simple popup toasters. It was quite busy and a steady stream of guests seemed happy enough with their varied breakfasts.
The apple, pineapple and orange juice were not fresh and were quite strong flavoured indicating they were made up from concentrate. The apple juice was actually fermenting which is not good for Muslim guests or breakfast! I did tell manager who was indifferent to my advice until I mentioned the word 'alcohol'!
On my return to the room I had a shower which was an interesting affair. The shower was attached to the wall at head height with no adjusting so sprayed against the wall only. The cold tap/faucet was loose so needed fine adjustment. The plastic shower curtain breathed in with hot water so stuck to me whilst showering, not pleasant. I did not use the shower gel provided incase I got trapped in the shower with no water as the pressure and temperature varied a lot.
There was no mould in the bathroom or main room. The ceiling of the bathroom was a metallic grill design and had some rust (obviously style over function).
Opposite the hotel was a derelict (EU funded?) sculpture park which is abandoned and closed off. Maybe local kids skateboarded there and disturbed the hotel guests? The whole area is a building site especially on the seafront opposite us. Weekdays no doubt can be relatively noisy with local building workers doing their jobs but it was not that bad. The sea could be spotted down the dead end road opposite (although misleadingly no way through for pedestrians).
We went for a walk to the beach before checkout and there was a marina (EU funded in 2006-8) full of small fishing boats and some for tourists fishing excursions. A small shelter sold fresh fish including the (cheapest) invasive lion fish at €7 a kilo, which is quite tasty apparently. This may be served at some of the local restaurants as fish of the day at €35 a kilo!
We checked out at 11 and headed north. Round the corner to the north is a stray cat hotel in a park and recycling bins which I was unaware of when leaving the empty litre bottle of Vodka in the bathroom bin. Oh dear, a bad impression (we decanted 70cl into a plastic bottle being much lighter).
HSR is basically a 1970s concrete hotel with pool for kids not far from the beach. Flaking paint is everywhere including on the balcony and on the room ceiling. It has seen better days but the owners are friendly albeit not quite understanding English.
Horrible place, stay away.
We arrived at 2am to a room with no AC in the heat of September.
The room stank and the extra covers were smelly as well .
The other room we got was also so bad with a horrible smell, stained sheets and a broken shower head.
Never again.
Dirty and filthy property. Mould throughout.
Even when cleaners cleaned the room it was still disgusting. Black mould throughout the bathroom for example.
Breakfast was always scraps left only at any time and cold and lack of choice.
DO NOT STAY HERE
The hotel was full and couldn't offer us the room we booked and paid for - they refused to give us a refund even though they couldn't offer what we have booked. Offered us a meal at another hotel as compensation which is disappointing, we left and booked somewhere, this shouldn't happen it is robbery - if you can't give the room that has paid for you should give the money back - it's that simple.
