The breakfast was excellent and cooked to order. Used local produce. Would have been nice to have some local honey to have on the toast.
The evening meal was good.i would have preferred a lighter meal. A salad offering would have been a nice touch.
Wonderful.
Comfortable and exceptionally clean rooms. Perfect location for the southern lakes. Ate in the restaurant, nothing fancy but cooked to perfection with good ingredients- delicious. Breakfast wonderful. Then there's the staff: welcoming, friendly and helpful. Basically, this is a gem.
Fantastic stay, staff were happy and friendly and super helpful…. The view from the Kent room was stunning too!
Great location, great host and great breakfasts. We will definitely be returning

Great bar and lounge, Bingo night/ BBQ nights also weekly on offer should you fancy .
Location ideal in Southern Lakes for Cartmel Village,Grange Over Sands, Kendal and easy reach to Settle,Windermere and Arnside etc. Thoroughly recommend.
Cleanliness, appearance
It’s situated up a long hill, having to make breakfast decisions before 9pm night before
Lovely hotel staff really friendly
Every was lovely, dog friendly
Beautiful location and within walking distance of Cartmel village and Grange and other places of interest further afield.
All the staff were welcoming and friendly, nothing too much trouble.
Our room was a good size with a bath and shower in our en-suite!
The food, we had breakfast and an evening meal, was delicious, with a varied menu.
Could have done with some hand soap in the en-suite, although we did bring our own.
Didn’t stay here so don’t know much about the rooms.
We went for a meal after our registry office wedding. The staff were wonderful, as usual, and the food was lovely, even accommodating the more fussy eaters amongst us.
The setting was perfect for pictures - only the weather let us down.
Thanks Sue and the team for helping to make our big day special! J&D
We recently stayed at the Uplands Hotel in Cartmel. The location is excellent, just a short distance from the village, and the free parking was a real bonus.
Unfortunately, the experience on arrival wasn’t the warm welcome you’d hope for. Check-in felt very rushed — it seemed more about taking payment and getting us to the room as quickly as possible. It was probably the fastest hotel arrival experience we’ve ever had, and not in a good way.
I had rang earlier in the week to make payment for the room as it was a surprise, and a meal with Simon Rogan in the local village. The person I spoke to couldn’t use the machine and a call would be made to me, that never happened and when we arrived the money owed was announced loudly, like I’ve never experienced in any bed and breakfast- again highlighted that our arrival didn’t fit in their agenda for the day.
It soon became clear why, as a large private party arrived shortly afterwards and completely took over the hotel and gardens. Guests not connected to the event were left feeling like an inconvenience, and there was nowhere comfortable to sit and relax. We genuinely couldn’t work out whether it was a celebration or a funeral gathering, so we decided to head out for the day instead.
To be fair, the rest of the staff we encountered were pleasant and friendly, but the overall atmosphere didn’t feel particularly welcoming for guests. Breakfast was basic but complimentary when booking direct so was not expecting a lavish affair.
Cartmel itself is lovely, and we’d definitely return to the area, although next time we would likely choose to stay in the village itself or book a more traditional hotel experience.
It was lovely and quiet
They was flooding that was coming up outside the shower , and we arranged to have breakfast at a set time and everything was closed like no one was expecting us
Lovely location and very friendly and welcoming staff. Lovely rooms and very nice food and everyone is very dog friendly. Will definitely stay here again.
Friendly owners, gave us a lift to L’Enclume
Nothing. Was a bit further out than we thought, bit of an uphill climb if walking.
A wonderful, family run little Inn, in an old, historic building, in the beautiful setting of Cartmel, Cumbria,
We arrived to a very friendly welcome from the staff who booked us in and took us to our room, helping us with our luggage. A great start! They had upgraded us to a larger room with a huge bed without us asking - simply because it was available! It was a very pleasant surprise.
The first evening, we were the only guests staying and the family took time to spend with us in the lounge area, chatting away about all manor of things. It was lovely and we almost felt part of the family.
The food throughout our stay (dinner and breakfast) was very good indeed - hot, tasty with portion sizes being more than enough (good for me - I love my food!!) An impressive, substantial selection of drinks was available at the bar too.
The room we had, had a stunning view as we discovered on the Sunday morning when drawing our curtains back.
A place you must certainly consider to stay if visiting the area. Thank you.
