Exceptional hospitality from a warm, family-run property, offering outstanding comfort, great food, and thoughtful servi
Pros:

A very friendly, family-run property where ensuring guests have a great experience is clearly their top priority. The menu offers a good choice of reasonably priced dishes, and the bedrooms are extremely comfortable and finished to a high standard. As a lovely final touch, they even dropped us back to the train station when we were leaving, which really demonstrates the care and attention they give to looking after their guests. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend it.

Cons:

Nothing

Average Hotel
Pros:

The views from our room & the hotel terrace are spectacular. The food was well cooked & nice. The room & en suite are spacious. Comfy bed. Nice toiletries. The staff are friendly & helpful.

Cons:

The hotel is a little tired & could do with a refresh. The room en suite had substantial mould stains. The vinyl floor is lifting. The shower pressure was poor. The hotel is a 20min. walk from Cartmel. The walk is down/ up a very dangerous road with fast traffic.

Great location, warm welcoming staff and lovely food.
Pros:

Great Breakfast, superb location and views from the patio.

Cons:

The shower was really slow and unpredictable. The dresser chair was rickety and in need of tightening. A dan in the room is a necessity in the warm weather. One member of the team couldn’t answer basic questions e.g, check out times, soup of the day etc stuff that is so simple if you are heated up for putting the customer first and not just the task in hand.

Would recommend and we would stay again
Pros:

Great views, decent room, staff were all very nice, good breakfast.
We stayed when a big football match was played and they made a great effort putting a big screen outside which was well attended

Cons:

If I’m being picky it was a bit too far to walk back up the hill for my wife, a good 20 minute walk

Pros:

Staff very welcoming
Super dog friendly
Bedroom and bathroom great size
Bed super comfortable
Location

Cons:

Hotel was worn and tatty in places

Carpark and out buildings need a good clean up first impressions on driving in not great

The fact you have to pre order if you want breakfast

Evening menu on the night we stayed was a bbq very limited choice and paper plates ect Was a real let down Was expecting to be able to enjoy a nice mean on the terrace

Biggest thing we didn’t like was It’s more like a local pub than a nice hotel Locals very loud lots of swearing

Pros:

The staff were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was great. Location was good, short walk into Cartmel.

Cons:

The carpets in the hall way and bedroom were filthy and generally it didn’t feel clean. The bar area carpets on Sunday morning had not seen a vacuum from Saturday night when we had breakfast at 9am - the overall feel was dirty which is a shame as it was a friendly place to stay.

Comfortable and well-located accommodation in beautiful location.
Pros:

Stunning location and really comfortable room with beautiful view, well-equipped with great facilities; staff really helpful in enabling secure lock-up of our tandem.

Cons:

There are no faults or failings of Uplands Inn - it's a great place to stay with ample parking for car users.
Just a shame on the occasion we were staying, we arrived (exhausted after long cycle in heatwave) on a 'bingo night' where usual menu unavailable. Option was to walk back to town centre for evening dining.
