I had a great time, Somerset people are so friendly, loved my stay at the George Hotel.
Pros:

Breakfast looked great, I personally don't eat much in the mornings. Staff were fantastic, really helpful.

Cons:

was nothing I didn't like. I wouldn't travel there again because it was too far, it was a one off for me, Edinburgh to Castle Cary 9 hours by train, and there was delays made the journey longer.

Poor start which got better.
Pros:

We came here just after 8.30 on a Thursday evening but were told that service was finished despite the sign outside saying it ended at 9pm. We therefore went to the Italian restaurant just up the street for dinner.
The next morning we went into the hotel to speak to the manager about our experience the previous evening and he told us the pub was closing shortly and that they were unable to access the website. We decided to stay for breakfast and enjoyed coffee and fruit juice, cereals and toast plus a Full English for me which was very good indeed.
The manager told us the place was closing for three years for complete renovation and had been acquired by the company behind the Newt group of hotels. Enjoy it while you can!

Alt i alt en fin overnattingsplass

Veldig gammel bygning, koselig

Vegg-til-vegg teppe på rommet og lukt på badet. Kunne vært litt bedre renhold

Pros:

Room was nicely decorated.

Cons:

More info at check-in or in room eg. about working the shower, would have been helpful. 4-plug extension cable in room looked dangerous. Breakfast waiter was somewhat grumpy. Filter coffee was awful. Not worth £90 per night. All rather disappointing.

Ok for a one night stop over but wouldn’t stay any longer
Pros:

Breakfast was superb. Staff were friendly.

Cons:

Checking in problematic as poor receptionist could not get code from owner to log in to system.
The room felt dingy and tired. It was in an annexe accessed from the car park where guests of the pub were drinking outside so quite noisy until the pub closed.
The flat sheet on the bed wasn’t large enough to fully cover the mattress and the duvet was too small.
