Great people at The Boathouse. My son and I used it as a convenience hotel to catch and return from the Holyhead ferry terminal (5 minutes away) so we had 2 nights a week apart and particularly enjoyed the second night's stay as a local folk band was booked as the evening's entertainment - they were terrific! With good meals on offer too we were made very welcome at The Boathouse, thank you.
Nothing!
Great location! It is very close to the ferry and Breakwater Country Park, which was perfect for a nice morning hike with my dog before our departure.
I was specifically promised a ground-floor garden room to make staying with my dog more convenient. However, upon arrival, I was told that room was no longer available. Instead, we were given a room on the second floor that was as far away as possible. Managing a dog and all of our luggage back and forth up the stairs was a real hassle. Very disappointed with how this was handled.
The situation is pleasant and convenient for ferries to Ireland.
Very expensive especially as it didn't include breakfast which was a rip- off. Stayed the previous night in another Booking.com hotel nearby which was also on the coast, was cheaper and included an excellent breakfast. No-one was around to check in and generally the service was very casual. The shower was cold.
Amazing location — quick walk from Soldiers point ruins and some flowering fields, and our room overlooked the marina. Gorgeous! Super friendly staff and good food. Perfect night before an early morning ferry ride.
Friendly clean and comfortable.
Very convenient for the ferry
Bed frame was noisy.
Everything! The setting, the comfy old-fashioned relaxed atmosphere, the helpfulness of staff, the food.
We were catching the ferry from
Holyhead to Dublin the next day so the hotel was in a great location. The restaurant and bar (when it was attended) were good.
The host ensured that we knew the hotel was “the Fawlty Towers” of Holyhead so we didn’t expect everything to be perfect. However, she was quite abrupt and was very “stressed out”. Her staff were the opposite and had more of a casual, almost “who cares” approach. The door on our room didn’t lock easily / normally but we were shown that it had to be locked “the British way” with handle up (?). The shower had to be run for over 10 minutes in the morning before the water heated up (but it did heat up!!)
It had parking on site
The hotel / Bar was not the cleanest the shower had mould around it
There was any food availble in the evening
And i had to make numerous requests for a vat invoice
Everything. The staff and owners were lovely, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. My room was immaculate with decent WIFI with very comfortable bed and pillows. Plenty of off street parking and a great welcome. Only had one meal there which was absolutely delicious (garlic prawns with salad). I will definitely be going back. If you want a criticism - it is too cheap for what it is!
A guest deciding that having a cigarette in their room at 1.45am was a good plan and setting off the fire alarms was deeply irritating. But you can’t blame the hotel for that and at least we knew the fire system was working.
Nice old inn. Food was delicious and the couple who run it very helpful.
The shower was difficult to get temperatures right, the slightest bump of handle made very hot water, just too touchy to get normal shower temps.
Food was great. Bar staff exceptional 👌
Stunning location. Incredible staff
